Cyanide announces a new database editor for Pro Cycling Manager – Tour de France 2008 PC
The French game studio, Cyanide, which released the first Pro Cycling Manager© game in 2001, bringing out a new version every year since, has announced that a new database editor will be available in its upcoming Pro Cycling Manager – Tour de France 2008 PC edition. "For any sport fan, being given the opportunity to live all aspects of his favourite sport from a professional angle is very exciting. Since the first edition of Pro Cycling Manager in 2001 (Cycling Manager before 2005), we, at Cyanide, have tried hard, year after year, to create a very realistic and immersive cycling management sim. We are very receptive to all feedback we receive from our community and we noticed ever-increasing demands for an improved team/rider/race customization system. This database editor is a logical answer to their expectations and it will be available in the June 2008 edition of Pro Cycling Manager!" says Clément Pinget, the Pro Cycling Manager project leader.
As you know, Pro Cycling Manager is the renowned cycling management sim that gives players the chance to take on the role of a general manager of one of the 65 official cycling teams. You, the manager have to handle all aspects of a professional team’s season. This includes: choosing the team, dealing with rider transfers and contracts, creating training schedules, managing the team’s finances... You must also take on the important task of searching out the most promising young riders. Manage all of these aspects and build the most competitive team! Across 180 real-time, 3D playable races, decide on and then put into action the best tactics including: attacks, relays, protecting your leader, feeding riders...
Furthermore and new in the 2008 PC edition, it will be possible to customize races, teams and the names, characteristics and personal data of riders. The new database editor allows you to create unique riders, races, and names for your team. Of course, when you create a new rider profile your choices will affect his performance across the season. This summer, once again, BE the best cycling manager of the season! Pro Cycling Manager – Tour de France 2008 will be in the shops on end-June, 2008. Interview with Clément Pinget Pro Cycling Manager project leader
Clément, the game is in beta phase at the moment. Will testers be allowed get their hands on this new feature shortly? It will be possible for them to test it in the next few weeks. By the way, although beta registrations closed on last March 31st, players and cycling fans can join us on official game forums. It is the main place to discuss PCM 2008 with us. Feel free to ask your questions!
Will it be possible to customize rider characteristics from the official teams? Yes, that’s the main interest of this database editor! Players do not always agree with our notations (it's a very subjective thing, because each player has a different point of view on the same rider) so they will be able to make their own changes!
Is this database editor user-friendly for new-comers to Pro Cycling Manager? Of course, it will be very easy to change characteristics, names and other parameters with this editor. It will be a stand-alone application, so that you will be able to edit your database while browsing a website (to check the results of a rider for instance).
Finally, what can players customize in this database? I do not have the final list but you definitely will be able to modify all the physical characteristics of a rider, his potential, his nationality, his picture... You also be able to edit team names, budgets, the division they race in, as well as other key factors, such as the way they recruit a rider (for example, you can say that Team Milram will recruit lots of Italian and German riders, or that Team High Road will recruit any nationality, etc…).
