Yearly tradition goes on: The Stage Creation Contest
NewsWow, we've been online for a long time now. On the 5th of December 2006 we mentioned the Stage Creation Contest by Cyanide - and guess what, now it's back. Stage Creators all around now the globe can now once again submit their work and become known as the best stage creator in the world ;) Also, if you want to, you can become a part of the Official Stage Creation Team for PCM08 (meaning that it's also very likely you get to try out the beta versions before everyone else ;)).

Official Announcement (we are of course sorry about the language, but after all, they are French, and they did try to translate to English - that's more than they normally do ;)):
2007 Stage creation contest

To detect the best stage creators of the community, we organize a stage creation contest.

This contest is open to all Pro Cycling Manager player who aren't in the examining board. We invite the communities of each countries to mobilize them to discover all talented stage creators.

Contenders will have to make a stage among one of the four following places :
1. Savoy
2. Souther Alps (from Nice to Gap surroundings)
3. Western Dolomites (from Bolzano to Come Lake)
4. Austria

THe lenght of the stage will be beetwen 180 and 220 kilometers (+/- 10%).
Stages that the profile will take a long part or entire route about the last Pro Cycling Manager can't be accept!
You choose if the finish line will be in a summit or not!
The limit date to send the stage will be the Monday, November 5th 2007 at 8.00pm

The stage's mark will be done by a examining board composed by Wawan, Wizaja, Thune and I.
After the ranking publication, no comment will be accepted! We try to be the most fair as possible!

We're particularly attentive to :
- bends in the climbs (variety, not too many bends who feel dizzy,...)
- realisation of the 2D profile
- summit of climbs
- "isolated building" use
- cities and villages placing
- realism of the stage (climbs, city start, finish city or finish climb,...)
- global landscape rendering
- model lakes or sea is better

We're very hard with :
- the non-respect about flat portions (0.5km) beetwen a downhill and a climb
- excess load in the 3D with too much isolated building, too much cities or too many roads
- abrupt break of slope with a bad placing about village, crossroad,....
- isolated building in the sky or across the road

Sending the stages :
Contenders will send their creations to the following email address :
gasrom@free.fr
The sending will be done as a joined zipped (.zip or .rar) document, which will compulsorily feature the following items :
- xml file of the stage
- bmp map, with the same name that the xml file supporting the stage (format will be either 512x512, either 1024x1024, either 2048x2048) so that the route can be easily understood when the stage gets opened in the stage editor.
- In the message, a little word to see your motivations for creating stage for the next PCM!

Authors of the best pieces will be able to join the official stages creation team of the next Pro Cycling Manager game. As stages will change every season on the main races, creating those stages is a monster work and we need to bigger our team !
Happy creating to you all !

God damn it, they added some parts to the text I translated (my last job for Cyanide), thus the lousy English in some parts [/big ego mode Pfft ].

Good luck to all anyway. Smile

PS : how does it feel to spend hours building stages when people play them all on x8 or simulate them all ? Pfft
