MEMBER AWARDS
Members of the Year: cunego59 and Nemolito (30%); Runner Up: AbhishekLFC (25%)
For the first time in PCM.daily Awards history, we have two winners of Member of the Year. In a very close vote, cunego59 and Nemolito share the honor, each just one vote ahead of AbhishekLFC.
Most Improved Member: kandesbunzler26 (55%); Runner Up: Imladrik (25%)
kandesbunzler26 wins the vote among three exceptional community members for his activity, his excellent reporting contribution and overall great vibes.
Best New Member: seancoll (90%); Runners Up: Caspi and noutisgoud (5%)
It's one of the most lopsided win of this year’s Awards show, and with all due respect to his fellow nominees, it’s perhaps not the biggest surprise. seancoll has been a stellar addition to our community, with activity throughout the ManGame, including pitching in with high quality reports.
Funniest Member: Nemolito (35%); Runner Up: TheManxMissile (26%)
In one of the most balanced polls, Nemolito comes out on top. Always quick with a joke or a witty comment, his posts often brings a smile upon our faces.
SITE AWARDS
Best Forum Thread: Fabianski’s Ranking Updates (78%); Runner Up redordead’s 2023 PCT prediction (17%)
A fabolous 2023 PCT prediction thread wins silver very deservedly, as it are Fabianski's +- 30 outstanding ranking updates per year/MG season that take the gold medal. Time after time Fabianski manages to recap the last Man-Game month and races per division, team and sometimes even rider in an amazing way, giving everybody a clear insight in what went right and wrong. With a new MG season on the way, the managers are already looking forward to read the first ranking updates purely because of the class and style Fabianski gives them.
Best Avatar: jandal7 (36%); Runners Up: DaveTwoBob and Gustavovsky (32%)
A very close race but jandal comes out on top with the pinguin 'Private' from the Madagascar franchise. Some cyclists aim towards one particular race in a year, and jandal seems to do the same with this award. The kiwi makes it two years in a row as winner of the best avatar award, something he himself would call criminal. Props also go to Croatia14 for the nice assist.
Best Story Writer: Kiserlovski01 (59%); Mresuperstar (41%)
For years now, Kiserlovski01 and Mresuperstar have carried our story section and the awards reflect that. After three consecutive Mre-wins, Kiserlovski01 is back on top again this year to take his record 4th win in the category. His Caja Rural story is one of the most remarkable achievements on this entire site, and long may it continue.
Best Forum Game: ManGame (95%); Runner Up: ICL (5%)
This is the most lopsided award. Also not a surprise, and a result that perhaps calls into question the future of this award.
Best User Project: Classics Fantasy Game (68%); Runners Up: MG World Rankings and NFL Predictions Game (16%)
Ollfardh wins a very, very deserved award for his fantastic Classics Fantasy Game. Organising and conducting the draft, keeping track of 200+ riders and churning out quick recaps for weeks on end is a big effort to keep participants extra involved in racing throughout the spring and is worthy of this kind of recognition.
Best Jersey Designer: Ezeefreak (63%); Runner Up: hillis91 (29%)
Ezeefreak wins this award, and although runner up hillis91 has also done amazing work as usual, it comes too no big surprise. Ezeefreak has singlehandedly designed over half of the new jerseys needed in the MG peloton (even if you only count Adler's jersey as one instead of the ten different ones he received). Apart from quantity, the quality of the jerseys was also from another world.
MANAGEMENT GAME AWARDS
Manager of the Year: Nemolito (39%); Runner Up: Fabianski (30%)
Considering the importance of the ManGame for the site, it makes sense that the impacts of Nemolito are reflected not only in the Member of the Year but also in the Manager of the Year category. Since winning the award in 2022, Nemolito has taken on more and more background tasks, still contributed a good chunk of reports and is just an all around good presence.
New Manager of the Year: KaiserAdler (39%); Runner Up: Imladrik (26%)
The votes are nicely spread out in this category, and rightfully so. Runner up Imladrik and bronze medals Ezeefreak and kandesbunzler26 have proved to be amazing additions with the work they do for the MG community, as well as all three of them building out a nice regional team so far. The winner of the category is KaiserAdler, who managed to promote to PCT in his first season thanks to some amazing racing by Lahcen Saber. In addition to that he also helped out with several nc reports in his debut season, and to this day remains to be one of the more colourful managers of the pack.
Reporter of the Year: UlrichUlriksen (63%); Runner Up: Imladrik (21%)
Just like for Manager of the Year, we have a back-to-back winner in the Reporter category. Ulrich’s efforts cannot be overstated, with not only a massive number of reports, but also consistently high quality and attention to detail, no matter if it’s a Grand Tour or a C2 race.
Team of the Year: Isostar (50%); Runner Up: Jura GIANTS (25%)
He might have disbanded over a year ago already, Croatia14 simply keeps winning as an MG Manager. He ended his Isostar career with a third PT victory in a row, and today they get the final award of their career. So far at least, as we can only hope a manager like that some day makes it back to the world of MG. For now, some other managers are allowed to win the highest title in MG.
Best Team HQ: Podium Ambition (33%); Runner Up: Cedevita (28%)
Stunned to even be nominated, TMM might be even more surprised to take home the award, but his fairly unique approach with more storytelling-based posts, as well as perhaps an overall appreciation for his island project, see Podium Ambition on the top step in a very close race. And the gifs, of course, don’t forget the gifs!
PT Race of the Year: 2022 Giro di Lombardia (64%); Runner Up: 2022 Tour de France (21%)
The peloton exploding with more than 40km to go, a long-ish range decisive attack by some of the biggest names in the game and a historic win for Peter Sagan to complete the monuments collection for Moser - the Giro di Lombardia, captured by a fantastic report by Imladrik, had it all.
Non-PT Races of the Year: 2022 Tour of America and 2023 Viana do Castelo (39%); Runner Up: 2022 Giro dell’Emilia (22%)
A shared award between the CT Grand Tour - with 24 seconds between first and second place and just a single second between second and third one of the closest GTs we’ve seen in a while, beautifully documented by Fabianski’s reports - and the unique Viana do Castelo, which put about as much excitement into a one day race as you can get.
CYCLING AWARDS
Male Rider of the Year: Tadej Pogacar (42%); Runner Up Jonas Vingegaard 32%
He might have came short in the Tour de France GT, basically everything else Pogi touched in 2023 turned into gold. This includes victories in Paris - nice, de Ronde van Vlaanderen, Amstel Gold Race, La Fleche Wallonne, winning yet another monument in Lombardia, his two stage wins in the Tour de France and a bronze medal at the World championships in Scotland.
Female rider of the year: Lotte Kopecky (54%); Runner Up: Demi Vollering (38%)
The Belgian Lotte Kopecky takes the win with an amazing 2023 campaign. She won Omloop, de Ronde, a Tdf stage and the World Championships, and also finished second in the TdF GC. Apart from that she was also very succesful on the track as well, a very deserving winner.
Surprise (Rider) of the year: Derek Gee (43%); Runner Up: Ben Healy (35%)
From unknown to unforgettable. Derek Gee broke free during the 2023 Giro d'Italia, where he spent around 1.000 km in the breakaway. It lead to four second places and two fourth places, as well as second in KoM and points. A bit later he did manage to win the Canadian time trial championship, and this year he has made an even bigger name of himself with his Dauphine stage win and great GC in the Tour de France.
Men's Team of the Year: Jumbo-Visma (79%); Runner Up: Alpecin Deceuninck (14%)
Just as in the 2023 season, Jumbo-Visma wins this competition without a very big fight. Their win count in the 2023 season was 69, including the Vuelta, the Tour de france, and the Giro. Winning the three Grand Tours in one season is absolutely mental, definitely when you keep in mind they also managed to win other important GC's and classics such as the E3, Gent-Wevelgem, Omloop het nieuwsblad, Tirreno - Adriatico, Basque Country, Catalunya, Dauphiné, and last but not least the Tour of Guanxi.
Women's Team of the Year: Team SD Worx (93%); Runner Up: Canyon//SRAM Racing (7%)
It's no surprise that Team SD Worx, the team that won almost everything in 2023 won another one. The voting margin is almost as decisive as the WWT rankings, too!
Men's Race of the Year: Tour de France and Giro d'Italia (38%); Runner Up: E3 Saxo Classic (25%)
Two winners in this competition. The Giro was a very close one. Evenepoel started great with two time trial victories, but had to leave the race with COVID. A very tense battle between Roglic and Thomas followed, with the Slovenian winning the GC in the end. In the Tour it wasn't a Slovenian that ended up victorious, but a Dane. Jumbo-Visma and Jonas Vingegaard were simply stronger than Tadej Pogacar and UAE in the 2023 Tour, which started in amazing fashion with a battle between the Yates brothers.
Women's race of the year: Paris - Roubaix (50%); Runner Up: Strade Bianche (42%)
A big crash in the female edition of Paris - roubaix lead to a surprising Canadian winner of the monument, EF Education's Alison Jackson. She showed her dance moves on TikTok and other social media to celebrate, and when she hears the news this race was PCM.daily's 2023 favourite we are sure she will dance some more.
