Weekly News #34
After having been confined to my bed for a while, I'm slowly getting back at 100 %. For the same reason, the Weekly News have been delayed a little, but since I'm now close at being fit again, here they are ;)
Another "starter" leaves PCM.daily's Line Up has changed a lot since the site opened in November. Alex134 and cmfos are the only ones - except me, of course - from the original crew who's still here. Unfortunately, that has now changed. Cmfos has - due to fortunate events - decided to leave the crew. Cmfos has been quite inactive during the past months, but for those who don't know he's the guy who wrote the 3rd most popular article here at PCM.daily, the "Fit or Fatigue"-article which explains the fitness system of PCM06 (and PCM07) in detail. You can read it here.
Aab-ern joins the crew When one leaves, there's always an open spot which needs to be filled. Aab-ern is not cmfos' replacement, though - he's mine ;) On the 22nd of August, I will start studying at the university of Roskilde, meaning that I'll probably have to spend less time here. Luckily, Aab-ern is willing to do my jobs here, meaning that his main priorities will be to keep the download section and the news section updated. He knows the system which this site is based on, and he's top motivated to do a good job. So, please welcome him.
Official Real Name DB for Patch 1.0.2.0 Several databases have already been released for the latest patch, but most of them, if not all of them, has French race names which is not exactly what we're looking for here in our international community. Luckily "someone" has made an "official" real name DB. It still includes the two fake teams, Ergomo and Freenet, but else than that, it's "real". Download it here!
Hannes Editor goes into 2nd version As with his converter, Hannes Editor is now in its 2nd editor. This also means that the program is in English. Or, partly, that is. There's still some words which haven't been translated, but it should be pretty understandable by now. Anyway, the very popular simple editor is available here.
Lots of new graphical add-ons While we are still yet to see the first "big" database for PCM2007, lots of great graphical add-ons are being made. Not so long ago, the Japanese master of graphics, Miya, released a new Champs Elysses for PCM2006 which stunned us all. Now, it has been released in a new PCM2007-version, looking even more stunning. The file is available here where you also can see a screenshot of how the Champs Elysses looks in real life .. or, wait, is that really PCM2007?? ;)
There's not a week without new backgrounds, of course. This week's new backgrounds are one with Tom Boonen and one with Fabian Cancellara. The Tom Boonen one is quite special since it looks like a drawing of Tom Boonen. It's good with some innovating stuff :) Later today, more new backgrounds will be added, so keep an eye on the download section!
What else do we got? Well, the country flags which was seen in the yet to be releasd PCM Spain pack have been released seperately in a "Country Flags"-pack. They are made by Ivancin and can be downloaded here.
If you're already tired of the loading screens in the big tours and classics, Banu1 has made some new ones for you. Basically, they are showing some of the monuments from each of the three tours, and as said, if you're looking for a refreshment for your game, they might be worth checking out.
Another update for your game is the Newspaper Pack. All the newspapers have been collected by Torpalex, but have been made by a lot of different artists. As far as I know, they were originally made for PCM06, but they work just fine for PCM07. You will find lots and lots of newspapers, and there's probably also one from your country. The pack is available here. Speaking of newspapers, our member, Smoothie, has made a "Cycling Weekly"-newspaper. It's available in our forum.
Community Update A community is not worth anything without its members. And luckily, we have lots of active members who are contributing to the community. First of all, there's PCM.daily's Management Game which is getting close to the end of the season. SportingNonsence and his Saunier Duval-team won the last stage of La Vuelta, and they also took the overall victory with Francisco Mancebo (boooh!).
Our Andy Schleck-fan, A_Schleck, has also been contributing with a CSC-story. It's a long story with lots of text, so if you're a "text person" /which you are if you have read all this), this story is really worth reading. You can read it here.
You can read all the PCM07-stories here, and the PCM06-stories here. There's a lot of activity in both forums since lots of you still play PCM06 due to the huge amount of (unfixed) bugs in PCM07.
