It's now time to reveal the results of this year's PCM.daily awards! If you've been around last year, you'll remember how close most of the categories turned out to be. Although there haven't been 4 ties like the last couple of years, or a victory shared among 3 nominations, a lot of these awards turned out to be tighter than expected, and I'm sure that you'll be surprised by some of the results, too.
Just like usual, new winners join some of the more usual suspects and defending champions. Congratulations go out to all of you, whether you've just been nominated or also won an award - you're the soul of this site. Huge thanks to all who voted and especially those who also took the time to send nominations, in order to make the voting possible.
The winners and runner-ups are all revealed below, and I have also posted the full results into each thread in the Awards subforum.

Surprise (Rider) of the Year: Lilian Calmejane (26%). Runner-up: Dylan Teuns (24%).

Non-WT Classic of the Year: PRO Ötztaler 5500 (34%). Runner-up: Le Samyn (19%).
Management Game
Manager of the Year: Shonak (28%). Runner-up: Roman (19%).
Shonak's ascent to the PT is something that hasn't been seen often in the Man-Game, and after coming short last year, Strava's manager has his team's likeability rewarded.
New Manager of the Year: Aquarius97 (39%). Runner-up: AbhishekLFC (27%).
Aquarius has joined the MG just this year but immediately distinguished himself as an incredibly passionate manager. With his exceptional reports, activity and initiatives, he definitely earned himself an award that put him against one of the strongest manager classes we've seen in recent times.
Reporter of the Year: tsmoha (38%). Runner-up: roturn (22%).
tsmoha's graphically-rich, high-quality reports have earned him the award for the 3rd time in 4 editions of the award.
Site Initiatives Awards
Fantasy Betting Champion: wackojackohighcliffe (237,300 PCM$). Runner-up: Jarci (171,344 PCM$).
wacko was able to find an unprecedented winning strategy, by exclusively relying on 'Another Rider' to win each of his 11 attempted bets. Luck was surely a factor in his overall win, but you can't deny that he certainly took some calculated risks, which is why he beat the bookie 9 of those times.
Man-Game Fantasy Betting Champion: SotD (18644 PCM$). Runner-up: wackojackohighcliffe (13960 PCM$).
SotD takes the first ever MG betting crown, using his knowledge and experience to reinforce why he's considered one of the best managers to ever have graced the game.
Fantasy Cycling Season Champion: Selwink (7832 pts). Runner-up: trekbmc (7398 pts).
Selwink takes a very commanding win after several changes at the top, that eventually led his team, led by Roglic and Zakarin, to beat trekbmc, now second in this particular game for the second time in a row.
Site Awards
Best Forum Thread: PCT Roundtable Analysis (38%). Runner-up: Is Sagan Really the Greatest Cyclist of all time this year? (24%).
The PCT Roundtable Analysis is probably the most in-depth preview the Man-Game has ever seen. The analysis, conducted as a cooperation among AbhishekLFC, Croatia14, jandal, knockout and trekbmc, beats out trekbmc's stream of consciousness thread for this year, an equally in-depth analysis of why, among other interesting details, Laporte is superior to Peter Sagan.
Best Avatar: matt17br (66%). Runner-up: fintas (17%).
Best Story Writer: Kiserlovski01 (43%). Runner-up: zuff (29%).
Kiserlovski's fantastically written and consistent story describing Caja Rural's adventures earns him the awards as the best site-wide storyteller.
Best Team Story: Caja Rural by Kiserlovski01 (56%). Runner-up: Team Novo Nordisk by sutty68 (22%).
Second consecutive win for Kiserlovski in this category, as Caja Rural continues for another year with the same quality as the last.
Best One-Rider Story: Be A Pro in the 80's by zuff and One in a Billion by AbhishekLFC (30%). Runner-up: The Life and Times by jandal7 (22%).
The only award that saw a draw in the top spot of the podium, this year, has been this one. But of course both of the stories, written by zuff who therefore gets his second consecutive chip, and Abhishek who deservedly takes an award for his commitment to his 'One in a Billion', did absolutely deserve the award too.
Best Forum Game: ICL (37%). Runner-up: PCM.daily's Favourite Rider (16%).
ICL is at the top for yet another time. It's followed by Mre's PCM.daily's Favourite Rider, that sees some of the highest activity on the site each and every year.
Best Site Initative: Management Game (53%). Runner-up: Expansion Pack (21%).
There's no touching the Management Game, even in its 10th season. It's Daily's most popular activity for sure, and looking at the voting it's been for at least the last 4 years.
Best User Project: ICL (59%). Runner-up: Velogames Championship (19%).
The ICL gets further recognition for its fantastic organisation, that brought about outstanding activity. In the runner-up spot, ringo gets some spotlight for his solid running of the Daily Velogames rankings.
Best Jersey Designer: the_hoyle (43%). Runner-up: -Gaz- (25%).
After several nominations in this category, the_hoyle finally takes the best shirtmaker award this year. 4th or 5th time lucky as they say!
Best Graphic Artist: the_hoyle (43%). Runner-up: Jacky Durand (39%).
A fourth consecutive victory for the_hoyle in this category, who narrowly edges out Jacky Durand. Fun fact: the_hoyle now holds the record for most consecutive victories in a single category!
Best Stage Maker: Leon40 (52%). Runner-up: emre99 (16%).
Leon40 takes his first award in this category after years and years of top quality stages, with some of the best and most creative uses of the Stage Editor that the PCM community has ever seen.
Best Database: PCM.daily Expansion Pack for PCM 17 (46%). Runner-up: Man-Game Database (27%).
A lot of work is poured in the Expansion Pack every year, and each year the community recognises it by making it the most popular Database on PCM.daily.
Best (non-DB) Download: Jacky Durand's Sponsorkits CPE (33%). Runner-up: ICL Development File (30%).
Jacky Durand finally gets some more recognition for his astonishing one-man project consisting of sponsorkits for hundreds of PCM races, after being the runner-up one too many times. The ICL Development File comes remarkably close to pulling off what could have been a huge upset.
User Awards
Member of the Year: matt17br (31%). Runner-ups: Croatia14 and roturn (25%).
Matt takes his 3rd victory in the Member of the Year award in a very narrow vote that sees Daily's cream of the crop facing each other.
New Member of the Year: Raziz (73%). Runner-up: aldrofj (23%).
The New Member award has seen in the last 4 years, some of the highest vote shares for the winner. This year is no exception, as Raziz, mostly active in the games and cycling section, dominates this category with 73% of the total votes.
Most Improved Member: Aquarius97 (35%). Runner-up: jandal7 (21%).
Aquarius won his award as the best new member of the year last year, and clearly the community liked his activity enough to think that he's been an even better resource for the forum, mostly thanks to his activity in the Management Game sections.
Admin of the Year: matt17br (54%). Runner-up: roturn (34%).
Matt's lead of the Database Team, paired with his involvment with the Fantasy Betting, as well as other areas of the forum such as News and Downloads, win him the award against a just as valuable admin - roturn - who won the title in the last few years instead.
Most Helpful Member of the Year: matt17br (92%). Runner-ups: 3 (3%).
The clearest victory in the history of the awards and the first ever with a win share bigger than 90%, as Matt defends his title as Most Helpful Member!
Funniest Member: trekbmc (52%). Runner-up: Waghlon (32%).
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand trekbmc. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of Cofidis, most of the jokes will go over a typical reader's head.
Most Missed Member: MARSUPILAMI (30%). Runner-up: Avin Wargunnson (25%).
MARSUPILAMI is, as expected by virtually everyone, the most missed member of the site. The Spanish shirtmaker, gone from the site since this year, beats out equally valuable members such as Avin, Jesley, isso and luigi.
And that ends the awards! Congratulations to all the winners, once again. As usual, credit goes to emmea for creating the signature design used for the userbars. |
