6 Men were allowed to get away today and fight for the win. In the end though, it was all about who could survive the longest before running out of energy - Bert Grabsch. There was a tough headwind throughout the stage and at one point the peleton had split into 4 different groups, they came together though and Boonen and Hunter led them home, passing one of the breakaway, Cortinovis, in the last few metres.
