Tour de France 2011 - here it is!
Pro Cycling Manager 2011

Update: We have added a sheet of information about the game to the screenshots section. You can see it right here.

Cyanide's upcoming console game Tour de France 2011 for XBOX and PS3 has not been officially announced by Focus yet, but luckily for them, we're here to help. We've been in contact with a publisher of the game who've kindly provided us with plenty of information about the upcoming titles.

As expected and previously reported, you will be able to play the 21 Tour de France stages - and that's it. The stages are played in a 1:1 scale, but you will only be able to play the most interesting parts of the stages, e.g. mountains, sprints etc. It's being rumoured that some additional content will become available after the release.

You will not be able to make your own rider. Instead, you will take over an existing rider on an existing team - and you will be able to "switch" riders from stage to stage. For example, you may want to control Petacchi on the flat stages and Scarponi in the mountains.

During the stages, you will be able to communicate with your team-mates (like "attack", "help", "get me some water"), and your team director will also make sure to give you information during the race, e.g. time gaps, distance left etc. It's also important to stay friends with the rest of the peloton. It's possible to form alliances, and if you respect your word, you will gain reputation among the rest of the peloton. It's not mentioned how this works out exactly, but I guess we will know later.

Since it's a console game, there will of course also be plenty of achievements to unlock.

The release? We've previously reported the 16th of June as being the release date, but that appears to be the day where the pre-orders begin. PanVision says that they expect the game to be released on the 30th of June in the Nordic countries (Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland).

And lastly -- want to see it in action? We have a video ready for you, but bear in mind that it's an old video with outdated graphics. The game is said to have progressed a lot since then. (Edit: We decided to remove the video on request from Focus/Panvision)

Sounds and looks great, especially 1:1 scale Smile

Arggh mute button! Please use some other music Cya/Focus! o.o

I think this kind of game mode has big potential, but to be honest: Besides the graphics, it doesn't look very impressive. Altough the repuation system sounds nice and of course the 1:1 scale... but apart from that it sounds kinda lame. No own rider, only the Tour, switching from stage to stage.

Well, in a multiplayer mode it would be a lot of fun! But apparently there is none. Did/Can you ask them if there really isn't one?

It remembers me a bit of "Track on Road" from PCM09(?)

Indeed EintrachtFan Smile

Crue True : Is the same release date planned for PC as well ? That would fit with what Amazon said to me.
#5 | R_Funk on 23. May 2011 19:51
Looks great, though I have no console. First time riders don't go through each other. The player seems to " bump" against the AI. That would disturb me when I had a console.
#6 | lluuiiggii on 23. May 2011 20:00
Damn, some info looks great, such as the 1:1 scale, the team mates/team director communication and the rest of the peloton things (reputation, alliances, friends, and such).

Pity it's a simple game, only 21 TdF stages.. also about the only play interesting parts, imo it should be 1:1 scale and then a speed that goes as high as x80 (which would be x8 on current game). Also interested to know about what R_Funk said, if you would crash with the others or if it would be like the current track mode..

Anyway, this could be the beginning of a near future Be a Pro mode, maybe?
#7 | the max on 23. May 2011 20:43
I don't think you will be able to crash. It would be way too hard.
#8 | Mresuperstar on 23. May 2011 21:15
The game looks very tempting ... but I think I'm going to just buy the PC game again because of the lack of depth on the console (Just TDF). But I love all the new features it is going to bring to the table for future games. Hopefully another report like this will come out for the PC version soon Grin
#9 | superider2010 on 23. May 2011 23:14
if it had some classic races and the big tours,it were more awesome then pc version
i belive in impossible and they will amaze us with dlc giro and vuelta
#10 | Martjeu on 24. May 2011 06:45
What will be the price of the game?
#11 | Eyolfur on 24. May 2011 09:00
This video is completely bullshit, it comes from a PC version with gamebryo, and it has at least 4 month of age, it was a work in progress version.

Thanks PCMDaily to post nothing but crappy info about the game. The communication is lame but you're not helping at all posting fake trailers.

And yes, there will be crashes and appropriate gameplay linked to the one rider control.
#12 | CrueTrue on 24. May 2011 09:19
Thanks PCMDaily

You're welcome.
#13 | Crommy on 24. May 2011 09:22
Another victory for the Cyanide PR machine Banana
#14 | CrueTrue on 24. May 2011 10:14
#2: No multiplayer mode is mentioned on the back cover of the Nordic version.

#4: I highly doubt that the PC version will be delayed. I don't see that happening.

#10: Amazon.fr has it listed for a price of 50 €: https://www.amazon.fr/Focus-Tour-de-Fr...amp;sr=8-1

I wonder why there are then "these" trailers and screenshots when they show nothing that comes close to the final product, why are there then these videos and screenshots?
Why isn't it like other games that are released closely compared to Dungeons and Dragons Daggerdale (ok some kind of dumb comparison but..)
Announced a year ago, some trailers that represent the final game and their features in the video at the last 3 months and tomorrow is the release..

I think no one will notice these screenshots and trailers "outside here" so I don't think it's bad

#11: "And lastly -- want to see it in action? We have a video ready for you, but bear in mind that it's an old video with outdated graphics. The game is said to have progressed a lot since then."

The article said that it's outdated. Wink

If the price is what it's rumoured to be - and mentioned earlier somthing like 40 pounds - no way I'm going to buy this. Looks ekstremely limited.
#18 | aroda on 24. May 2011 11:23
Please, everybody, stay calm, chill out and don't take things too seriously.
First of all, the video, as eyolfur pointed out, is completely useless, I don't even know why the nordic publisher filled out that crap because it was a very very old prototype version done in PC and it doesn't reflect the final quality of the game.

There have been people from the forum who have tested the game and all the feedbacks have been quite positive, so don't base your judgement on a fake video and wait to see the real footage of the game.

For people who complain about the lack of communication, well, the point is that we are actually working on making the game, which is far more important that making a lot of communication and having a worst product (EA-style, a lot of PR but unfinished games).

The question about why there has been no announcements or videos 1 year ago!!! (seriously ?) is just because 1 year ago this game didn't even exist.

Having to develop a game for the first time, on 2 different platforms, one of them completely new for us, and in a very short time doesn't let you too much time to think on any kind of PR, the most important thing is to finish the game as best as we can and then we will make sure to hand you the needed information.

And for those that I see coming to blame on Focus (2nd national sport here at daily after blaming cyanide), they have also done a great effort for this game, this is not like pcm-pc, this kind of game which requires a certification process from both Sony and Microsoft also demands a lot of work on their side and it is completely understandable that they didn't have time to communicate more because, just like us, their priority is to make sure the game will be ready on the deadlines so you all can enjoy the game during the Tour de France.

I hope that people for once stay away from that negative attitude and just wait to play the game to give an opinion, im sure the game will surprise most of you and even if it is limited and there are a lot of things that could be improved, please remember that this is only the first edition of a new game, it is useless to compare it to PCM which has been around for 10 seasons already. The game can only progress with the support of the fans, if you want to have a console version of a cycling game just make sure not to kill him even before it's out.

For your info, Focus will be making screenshots and perhaps even a trailer with the final version of the game soon.
#19 | SportingNonsense on 24. May 2011 11:48
Eyolfur/aroda - at least PCMdaily helping to gather interest in it, no matter how different you claim the end product will be.

Also, why not release the PC prototype Pfft
#20 | CrueTrue on 24. May 2011 11:57
And a few notes: "stay calm, chill out" - the only one reacting harshly so far was Eyolfur.

The rest of the comments are positive/negative reactions based on the info that's been released. No one has mentioned neither Focus nor Cyanide.

Isn't it fair to say that "it's a pity there's only 21 stages"? Or is that being too negative and "negative attitude"?
#21 | Crommy on 24. May 2011 12:05

Yet you're employees still have time to post this:

This is worrying reading and not really optimistic is it?

even if it is limited and there are a lot of things that could be improved, please remember that this is only the first edition of a new game, it is useless to compare it to PCM which has been around for 10 seasons already. Eyolfur/aroda ignore other posts and focus on this post

after release the game, came with downloadable content(dlc) adding races like paris-roubaix,amstel gold, fleche wallone, liege, milan sanremo, world champs and tours like giro and vuelta(add at least the clasics+wc or giro+vuelta)
and that's enough for xbox360/ps3 version this year

Eyolfur/aroda convince your team manager to add DLCs
after you playing 20-30 times(that's take, let's say 6 mounths) the whole tour de france,it will be boring because you need new races/tours to keep your interest the whole year

next year if you don't add ONLINE MODE,then add a SPLITSCREEN MODE.in fact it will be more awesome to play with my brother on splitscreen
#24 | Kadaffy on 24. May 2011 13:19
First of all i gotta agree with CrueTrue and Crommy.
And writting stuff like "having a worst product (EA-style, a lot of PR but unfinished games)", that is something you should keep for yourself.
Imo PCM is the worst product compared to any EA games, and PCM is never finished when they release it, and every year its the same unfinished game sadly.

Anyway i will buy this consol version just cause its something new and i have always wanted to just control 1 rider in sted of a hole team
#25 | Chadwick890 on 24. May 2011 13:23
Now just release a whole game with the create a cyclist option and 1.1 scale in the 3d mode and id be set for a long time Grin
#26 | DJP19 on 24. May 2011 14:14
PC or PS3 that is the question.
#27 | CrueTrue on 24. May 2011 14:23
Both Wink
#28 | R_Funk on 24. May 2011 14:33
Still looking forward to the game, the images showed an ok game with bearing in mind it are old images. Still happy to get some info about the game. Btw. For the first you see riders not going through each other. A huge improvement in my honest opinion. I love pcm10 and probably will love pcm11 as well.
#29 | hillis91 on 24. May 2011 14:34
Looks like a big step in the right direction, this can be a lot of fun. Defenetly picking this game up come release date Smile
#30 | saivert on 24. May 2011 14:38
Cant wait Grin
Im gonna buy it for both PS3 and PC.
