More speculations about PCM08
NewsOne of the very first rumours about the next edition of PCM was that it would turn into an arcade button-bashing-like game which we reported about in October in the Weekly News #41. This rumour has now moved rapidly, especially after the release of the PCM Viewer for PCM08. At Portuguese forums, they have digged even more into the news and has found another set of bars which, of course, can be interpreted in many ways.

The bars we are talking about are these:
PCM 08 bars

The theory is that you need to push the arrow keys to fill up the right-hand bar which is supposedly a speed bar. The bottom bar is supposed to be some kind of energy / tiredness bar. If it's a tiredness bar you will have to make sure it doesn't get filled up too quickly, if it's an energy bar, fill it up as fast as possible by pressing the buttons as fast as possible ;)
As said, it's all just rumours, but we will hopefully soon learn more about the game from the "officials" ;)

I knew that Cyanide is crazy...but THIS... Angry
#5 | cio93 on 13. January 2008 17:12
let's hope that's only a rumour...
#6 | CrueTrue on 13. January 2008 17:13
As said, there's no official confirmation of this. And I'm truly honest when I say this: I don't know if it's true or not. I have been told, though, that they're working on a new road gameplay with a lot of changes, and we also shouldn't forget that this rumour comes from a guy who were pretty close with Cyanide, Aquarius.

That being said, I personally think that Cyanide is going to implent the arcade-feel into the Track-mode, but will keep the original gameplay for the Road-mode.
#7 | Waghlon on 13. January 2008 17:15
For track-mode, itll be... acceptable seeing how its a technical, not a strategical exercise.
#8 | Addy291 on 13. January 2008 17:16
I agree for track racing it could be ok, but not for roadWink
#9 | ruben on 13. January 2008 17:22
Not for road please
#10 | mrlol on 13. January 2008 17:30
still if it's only for track... I can understand it, but I still dont want to have to buy a new keyboard every week....
#11 | SportingNonsense on 13. January 2008 17:47
Turning Pro Cycling Manager into an arcade button-bashing game would probably be the last nail in the Cyanide coffin.
#12 | issoisso on 13. January 2008 17:52
agreed with Waghlon and others. not for road please.
#13 | MarcoPRT on 13. January 2008 17:58
Cyanide guys are insane if you want to put this in road mode, unless they have good and resistant fingers...

For track mode, is acceptable.Wink

Anyway, I know this stuff for 2 weeks, it's another rumor, and I'll be expecting the game.Grin

I dont think its about pressing fastets on the buttons that would just be too dumb, but on the other hand its cyanide you can never know. But i think the rumours about pressing fast on the buttons are wrong.

We will all know more about this pretty soon.

thats the end of Cyanid, poisoning the oldfashioned pcm series ... OMG THE END OF GREATES AND ONE AND ONLY CYCLING MANAGER EVER !!!!!!!!:x:cry::cry::cry::cry:
#20 | Crommy on 13. January 2008 22:23
If it was the only, it must have been the greatest. I just find it amazing just how many times they can completely ignore the whole community. They must just listen to one person who just makes up what he wants in the game Rolling Eyes
#21 | issoisso on 13. January 2008 22:51
c'mon Crommy, let's not judge. if in fact the game mechanics are very changed, we'll see if it's for the better or the worse.

Although just as with any game, one thing is certain:

whatever the new features are, the general reaction at first will be "it sucks", and after a couple of weeks the "real" opinions will surface
#22 | SportingNonsense on 13. January 2008 23:11
Thats right isso, after a couple of weeks and knowing Cyanide, a couple of patches Pfft
#23 | Guido Mukk on 14. January 2008 02:02
@Isso..for me biggest problem is that. they mess again with strange stuff..and again we gonna get not ready version. But I would never say dont do it..it is damn easy to be critical and be Plakker. Probably I buy the game at june or july this year also.
#24 | CrueTrue on 14. January 2008 10:28
Well, do you guys remember what was critized the most this year? I do -- that the game hadn't changed enough. Now, Cyaníde is changing the game a lot -- they have added track racing, and they are changing the road gameplay a lot. We don't know what this means, yet, we only have speculations. For the same reason: Don't cross your bridges before you get to them.
#25 | Aquarius on 14. January 2008 13:38
The button bashing thing is just a thought Freire once had, maybe meant as a joke, maybe not. No one knows, at least I don't.

About the track game-play, I would rather imagine something like : an energy bar going up and down, growing and reducing faster the smaller your sprint stat is, then you'd have to click or push a button at the right moment to produce a good sprint. The biggest the bar when you pushed the button, the better the sprint.

Just guessing though...
#26 | AaB-ern on 14. January 2008 13:47
Well, perhaps the arcade-like icons are for a minigame, like the bouncy-like game in PCM3.
#27 | MJ91 on 14. January 2008 16:28
It better be rumoursFrown
#28 | cio93 on 14. January 2008 20:18
The biggest the bar when you pushed the button, the better the sprint.

so it would all depend on one push? not very logical...
#29 | CrueTrue on 14. January 2008 21:03
Again, that's just a thought (of Aquarius) - not necessarily how it's going to be.
#30 | Takitdown on 15. January 2008 22:48
Just 1 thing, the information was at pcm-portugalPfft
