when you hire a trainer is the one with the largest salary better than one with the same reputation but a lower salary?
and if so why?
thanks in advance.
reputation is what matters. however, if a guy has a higher salary, it MIGHT mean he has a specialization (classics riders, time trial, young riders, etc.).
I don't know if you can see the specialisation without hiring them, but you could in PCM06.

You can't see the specialisation in PCM 2007. However, the height of the salary does not say everything. In Kicker or the earlier version of the Hannes editor you can see (in DYN_Staff I thought, not sure) that a certain 'potential' is linked to certain names. This way, not only the reputation affects the quality and quantaty of the staff-members work, but also the name. If you hire a trainer for instance, you can see that one trainer can handle up to 8 riders (and still have an 'excellent' rating), while others can only handle 5 riders. This way (for a 'maximum result' you need 3 high potential trainers instead of 5 lower potential trainers with the same reputation, thus saving costs. But remember, the 'bonus' which you get on the traininglevel 'excellent' only applies when riders still can learn something. Otherwise is does not matter (to my knowledge) if you higher a lower reputated trainer or let him train the amount of riders that affect his effectiveness rating (giving him a 'good' or 'average' rating)

thanks, forgot about the number of riders they can handle
although, two trainers with the same rating (excellent, good, etc.) will get very different results from the riders. the better their reputation, the better the result.
That is so true. Reputation is what matters the most in terms of training bonus. The number of riders however, is determined by the 'staff-potential' (only visable when you look inside the database with HannesConvertor or Kicker).
