This is an Ardennes classic. Breakaways have no chance. But that doesnt stop a lot of riders from trying

Heres the 12 that got away: Ford, Van Hummel, Reynes, Jacobs, Deroo, Tondo, Brizuela, Berthou, Lefevre, Parra Pinto, Aulas, Duret

But thats not all. they were joined by more stronger attackers who attacked between 110 and 85km to go - Ulissi, Gerdemann, Klemme, Marzano, Iglinski, Vastaranta, Boom

Those later attackers take control of the break and as the race wears on a few of the weaker riders are dropped from it

With 44km to go, Ricco attacks and reaches the break

A few others - Rodriguez Oliver, LL Sanchez and Cancellara tried to follow but met the descent of that particular hill before they could quite get a gap

Ricco is instrumental in narrowing the break down further with the pack closing in, only Boom, Klemme, Marzano, Iglinski and Gerdemann go with him

The 5 up front dont have a huge lead, but if they can keep it then it will be enough as they go under 10km to go

Gadret and Claeys have caught the 3rd group on the road now, with Keinath on his own after them.

Approaching 5km to go, Vanendert leads attacks from the 2nd group

It results in the 14 riders merging into 1 group, albeit spread out, with Sinkewitz taking the lead

Claeys, Rodriguez Oliver, Iglinski and Bakelandts are closing in to make it 18 riders challenging for victory up the Mur de Huy

The Mur is tough, and it will be hard for riders to move past others, all going at a similar pace
