It’s already the final day here in Mexico. Given there aren’t any breakaway shenanigans there’s a threeway fight for the GC between Ewan, Coquard and Dainese.
Iversen and Oshri form today’s break. There’s not much in it for them except a minor KoM and GC result, though the latter doesn’t account for the young Lithuanian who lost time after his breakaway appearance back in stage 1.
Oshri wins the first KoM sprint.
As expected only Iversen contests the intermediate sprint.
Coquard takes some potentially crucial points and a second from the pack.
Iversen wins the second KoM sprint.
The Dane also wins the last intermediate sprint. Jakobsen takes the remaining points.
The break is over with 20 km to go.
With 5 km to go the three GC leaders have their usual trains set up.
Coquard launches his sprint just behind the red kite.
The Frenchman is in the lead with 300 m to go. Peak and Perera are his biggest opponents right now.
But Coquard is too strong and gets his third stage win in a row! Peak and Perera are the other podium finishers today.
The remaining seconds go to Liu, Kamberaj, Dainese, Ewan, Stash, Coutinho and Welten.
Coquard adds the GC win and the points jersey to his three stage wins. It’s been a huge race for him!
Muhindos work in the first three stages are rewarded with the KoM win.
