Betonexpressz GP (C2) - Preview
Welcome to Hungary for the ninth edition of the Betonexpressz GP! The Hungarian flat classic is usually won by a sprinter, but has some undulation on the parcours, and with some corners definitely offers a chance for the rouleurs as well. Let's take a closer look at the profile.
And let's have a look at the best sprinters at the startline.
Nat. | Name | FL | ST | RS | SP | AC | | Carsi Mustafa | 70 | 66 | 69 | 80 | 82 | | Zariff Nur Aiman | 70 | 71 | 67 | 80 | 80 | | Minali Riccardo | 73 | 70 | 74 | 79 | 79 | | Kennett Dylan | 75 | 73 | 76 | 79 | 78 | | Willwohl Willi | 73 | 71 | 67 | 79 | 78 | | Riabushenko Aliaksandr | 76 | 71 | 74 | 79 | 77 | | Welten Bram | 76 | 72 | 71 | 79 | 75 | | Page Dylan | 75 | 72 | 72 | 78 | 79 | | Gibbons Ryan | 75 | 73 | 72 | 78 | 78 | | Krieger Alexander | 70 | 69 | 72 | 78 | 77 | | Zhao Jingbiao | 74 | 68 | 74 | 77 | 81 | | Barbier Rudy | 75 | 72 | 71 | 77 | 79 | | Hofstetter Hugo | 74 | 71 | 71 | 77 | 78 | | Tivani German Nicolas | 70 | 68 | 78 | 77 | 78 |
Carsi and Zariff are the favourites when looking at the red numbers in the table, but their other skills aren't very favourite-like. Generally they suffer from a lead-out, but since the final km's aren't totally flat, having a lead-out might just work in their favour this time? Minali or Zhao have an average of 79 spr/acc and might also be looking at being one of the teams who realy on their deliverance with a sprint train.
Kennett seems to be standing out with his versatility here, with some other similar sprinters below him in the table. Krieger is looking to win the race for the second time and make it two in a row, with the first eight editions having eight different victors.
Let's see what rouleurs are at the startline.
Nat. | Name | FL | ST | RS | SP | AC | | English Felix | 78 | 74 | 73 | 71 | 75 | | Andersen Idar | 78 | 70 | 75 | 68 | 69 | | Mundle Benedikt | 78 | 67 | 71 | 58 | 67 | | Sagiv Guy | 77 | 73 | 71 | 72 | 72 | | Mraouni Salah Eddine | 77 | 71 | 72 | 71 | 74 | | Houle Hugo | 76 | 73 | 68 | 77 | 75 |
PCT outfit ISA - Hexacta brings three rouleurs, but English seems to be the best rouleur, with Mundle as a similar rider hoping to score for Simba. Houle isn't getting younger, but still has a decent mix of flat and sprinting skills. Can he put them into a decent result in Hungary?
Good luck to all, startlist below.

The length of the race should favour Gibbons and English somewhat, but the lumpy course probably negates that. With how unpredictable sprints have been I'd be happy with any kind of result really, so let's hope for the best.

Should at least suit Houle to some degree but not sure considering this ends in a mass sprint I think Kennett will be hard to beat |

Hoping for another great performance from Kennett, kinda looks slightly bumpy nut Between always did well here so that shouldn't be an issue
Thanks Nemo, good luck all

Love seeing Tivani actually make the list of favorites - it has been a huge struggle for him this season in sprint classics where he just isn't good enough to even sprint. Hopefully once he finds his way into a sprint, he can find a podium. The uphill drag and good resistance gives me hope.
good luck all!

Thanks for the preview!
Hoping the undulating terrain can favor Hofstetter or, who knows, trigger a late attack by Wackermann. That helped us in the past.
Good luck all!

Decent performance from Gibbo, would've been nice to nab a top 5 but won't complain. Thanks for the report!

The heartbreak, I can't believe Welton lost that much ground in that short amount of time. We will take a podium, but losing like that is wild.

well, the SEE Turtles found a way to disappoint again. I love my team - but lord I did not plan them well this year. Took a huge risk and it is not paying out. The Tivani success at ToA in 2023 really made me think he could find success in sprint classics this year and that was a terrible conclusion to come to. Muhindo gave it a real shot and he has to be one of my top signings of the off-season but 17th is still not something to be thankful about.
I'm sure some overall season frustrations tie into this, but from a simulation standpoint, I am frustrated to see the simulation team surviving all the way to the line in the final group. The top rider finished 61st, ahead half of the field and they clearly all stayed in the peloton. As seen in the video, they were also still sprinting to the finish line. The PCM AI still registers them as a team and on auto they still participate. We've seen weird splits all season with downhills, turns, etc and 3 riders worth of positioning or 3 right/wrong riders in a group can be the reason a group relays or doesn't.
To be clear, I don't think the race should be redone and clearly the team didn't fall into the scoring slots. It's just something that could impact a race somewhere along the line that can be really easily avoided.

Sorry about that. Will be more careful from the next race.

Very exciting race to follow from our POV, but the outcome is far from good enough when we bring all our top guns

Really can't complain about Kennett, he always gets into the action and 2nd is a great result!
