Kraftwerk Man Machine
Welcome to the Head Quarters of Kraftwerk Man Machine Cycling Team riding in PCM Daily's Management Game 2024 Season.
Kraftwerk plunged from 7th place in PCT in 2022 to 17th in 2023. We need a better transfers to get back on track.
Kraftwerk and Trivago are back for another year of sponsorship and we will be riding in the same iconic shirt.
Main Sponsors
Kraftwerk https://www.kraftwerk.com/
The Dusseldorf based Pioneers of Electronic Music and big cycling fans are stepping up from their cycling club Radsportgruppe Schneider, to sponsor a professional team. Here is a great article by Jack Thurston from 2005 that describes Kraftwerk's history and love of cycling following the release of Tour de France Soundtracks in 2003 (eagle eyed members will have spotted my avatar is from the cover of this album ).
Trivago https://www.trivago.com/
The travel tech company also based in Dusseldorf.
Dusseldorf base with international mix
Kraftwerk Man Machine are based in Dusseldorf riding on a German licence. The team is comprised of an international squad to reflect the international appeal of Kraftwerk's music, although Germany will always be the best represented nation.
The Kraftwerk Man Machine team name is taken from Kraftwerk's 1978 album The Man Machine. The concept of the Man Machine is of humans, technology and nature combined in harmony with the Rider, Bicycle and Parcours being a prime example. The youtube link below is the live version of The Man Machine from the Minimum-Maximum tour (its playback restricted if embedded).

Renewals
Renewals went well with a saving of 225k and we have some spare cash and cap space. We thank the aging Dominik Nerz who was released after a great career with Kraftwerk. Also release were David Boily, Jan Dieteren, Eugert Zhupa and Arvin Moazemi.

Thanks to Knockout for his roster listing tool.
Kraftwerk are looking to replace their aging riders with younger guys so swap deals would be of interest.

Had never noticed Zubov's stats before but what an interesting rider, especially with his first decline.
Have to say a nice TT core and you look well set up for sprints with Zabel and Haller (should he end up staying put). Surprised to see the availability on your mountain men, but am sure you have a plan. Excited to see it play out!

Good to see the team making plans for the future. I know you had said personal complications had stretched you capacity, so hopefully things have improved so the Kraftwerk tour can continue with greater freedom.
If Sean's favorite weird rider is Zubov mine is Cherkasov,

Haller available, no attempt to get the ToA stage win record for himself
Otherwise, I see some interesting "Maybes" and a "Yes" - we'll likely be in touch for the latter at the very least

Good to see your renewals went well so you can try to rejuvenate your squad. Shouldn't be too hard to find managers interested.

Seems like that awesome core who had you so consistently good for so many years has aged or fallen out a bit now. You are a great squad-builder who I'm sure can get things back on course, especially with that new cap space. Best of luck

Looking at those ages, I'm not surprised your looking towards rejuvenating the squad a touch. I'm excited to see what you bring together, having enjoyed some of the previous iterations.

A rebuild of this squad seems well overdue, maybe it finally happens this time.

Haller leaving makes sense, but yeah, a sad day to see. And congrats to Nerz on a great career.

@seancoll - he is a useful minimum wage minor scorer, open to offers. After doing transfers for a number of years I have given up on plans as they never last past the first day!
@UU - Thanks for your kind thoughts, I am still stretched, I have had to go back to work after retiring. Lots of juggling, I don't want to drop the Man Game as its full of wonderful fellow managers
@Fab - Haller has the record and I think he still has a good season in CT left in him. Looking forward to talking in transfers.
@kandesbunzler - I hope I can generate some interest, its been a bit of a challenge the last couple of seasons.
@jandal - my recent transfers have not managed to keep the quality up/adapted to the new PCM versions. I need some luck, cheers.
@liefwarrior - I am getting too sentimental in my old age and don't want to let good team members go!
@red - maybe, but i am a bit set in my ways
@BBL - Sad if Haller goes, he was my best value transfer by a long way, but I think he could do well in CT. No interest in Nerz in transfers so he stayed with us to the end.

Kraftwerk Transfers
Deals
4 riders join the team.
Anthony Turgis takes over from Kanerva in non-mountainous hills. He is better but at three times the wage not great point per wage value.
Fausto Masnada takes over stage race duties from Ranaweera, we have tried to adjust the calendar to more suit Fausto’s talents. Don't worry Fab we will take good care of him.
Max Walscheid comes in for Haller in the second sprinter slot, we plan to put his prologue to good use.
Felix Gall joins Kraftwerk after Groenewegen nearly joined but changed his mind in the last 11 minutes. At least Felix is relatively young!

Alexander Evans is a useful depth stage race scorer and is relatively young.
Michel Koch, Dan McLay and Lennard Hofstede are all C2 eligible and joined late after the Groenewegen situation left us with wage cap space.
Young Tim Torn Teutenberg is a Düsseldorf local and was a top target for the team. Not sure which way to develop him yet.

Always sad to lose a rider you're attached to, but I really like that Fausto ends up with a team having the same depth-first approach as I do
Gall is a great complementary signing and can do all the non-TT uphills, so Fausto can concentrate on the latter. Turgis may have suffered from Meurisse also being there last year, one of the duo always picked the short straw I think. Hope he can do well for you
Walscheid is a nice local signing and a very solid sprinter, sadly he isn't the youngest anymore. But depending on how you develop him, Teutenberg should fix that pretty soon Great to see that you were able to get him in the end!
Commiserations on the failed Groenewegen deal, swap deals getting hijacked sadly has become the trend of this transfer period... Hope the replacement riders will still get you some decent points!
