Ras Tailteann
The race is reported by kandesbunzler26
Welcome to the 13th edition of the Ras Tailteann stage race. The race has undergone many transformations in division, length and profiles, but over the last 5 years it has settled in as 3 day sprinters only race. No KOMs, pan flat throughout with the F1 style bonus seconds system for the top 10 finishers. The most consistent sprinter wins the race. The race has moved from the continental division to PTHC, so don't be surprised to see the toughest field of sprinters, as the best from PCT and PT come together.
With that said let's look at some of the favourites:
Sprinter | FL | RS | SP | AC | Lead out | FL | RS | SP | AC | Gaviria | 76 | 76 | 83 | 84 | Bogdanovics | 73 | 69 | 78 | 77 | Dainese | 76 | 76 | 81 | 82 | Gibbons | 75 | 72 | 78 | 78 | Ewan | 75 | 71 | 83 | 81 | Contreras | 72 | 75 | 78 | 80 | Demare | 73 | 72 | 82 | 81 | Kump | 70 | 67 | 77 | 74 | Grosu | 73 | 70 | 83 | 80 | Van der Kooij | 73 | 74 | 78 | 77 | Kemboi | 78 | 77 | 80 | 80 | Dekker | 75 | 76 | 75 | 74 | Manninen | 74 | 75 | 81 | 80 | Ruiz | 79 | 71 | 73 | 75 | Halvorsen | 76 | 71 | 81 | 80 | Räim | 74 | 72 | 76 | 75 | Philipsen | 74 | 70 | 81 | 80 | Garcia Cortina | 76 | 72 | 77 | 76 | Aniolkowski | 76 | 74 | 80 | 79 | Lutsyshyn | 70 | 73 | 79 | 80 | Cullaigh | 74 | 70 | 80 | 81 | Barbari | 71 | 69 | 76 | 79 | Vesely | 73 | 68 | 81 | 80 | Kooistra | 75 | 69 | 74 | 74 | Zabel | 74 | 70 | 81 | 79 | Haller | 72 | 71 | 80 | 79 | Kragh Andersen | 77 | 74 | 81 | 77 | Forssell | 68 | 73 | 76 | 76 | Enger | 73 | 73 | 81 | 78 | Groselj | 78 | 78 | 73 | 72 | Carsi | 70 | 69 | 80 | 82 | Van Lerberghe | 74 | 74 | 75 | 73 | Kennett | 75 | 76 | 79 | 78 | Bennett | 70 | 67 | 78 | 78 | Einhorn | 74 | 71 | 80 | 78 | Eislers | 74 | 68 | 76 | 75 |
Gaviria is certainly the clear choice as the #1 favourite here. After him I would say there are four more that are a tier above the rest. Dainese matches the Colombians flat and resistance. Ewan and Grosu both boast the same top sprint stat. And finally we have Demare and well, he's Demare, right? All of them have strong sprinters as lead out man should they deploy them.
Afterwards we really see just how deep the field of sprinters actually is. There are seven more 81 sprinters and another five 80 sprinters, including some big name such as Kemboi, Manninen, Halvorsen and Philipsen. Then again we have seen that sprints haven't been kind to the favourites at all. I wouldn't be surprised if some sprinters at the end of this list or some not even on it, perform significantly better than expected. Either way we should get a new first time winner of this race.

Should be easy GC win for Halvorsen and at least 2 stage wins

I believe this is our win goal, so fully expecting Kemboi to not get a single bonus second here |

Thanks for the nice preview, red. Sponsor top 5 goal here, so hoping the sprint luck is in our favour. Good luck to everyone!

Great start for AKA. Went just a little early, but luckily the finish line came before he cracked completely. 4th is a good result, especially given the time bonus structure here. But now we have to back it up with some consistency.

Well that first stage couldn't have gone any better obviously! Amazing ride by Manninen, and also superb stuff from the legendary Quispe to score some bonus seconds with that intermediate sprint. I understand the other teams not giving such a mad man more space and closing the break down early. Thank you for the report, kandesbunzler!

Big win by Dainese! He did enough on stage 1 to establish a decent lead on the rest, but it’s still wide open going into the final stage. Fingers crossed!

Welp, an insanely stupid sprint by AKA there, but I guess when Grosu is 20th I can't really complain.

Vesely finally comes up with a(ny) result after four poor sprinting stages in Denamrk and here. And, it's a great one!
Congrats to Sykkel and thanks for the reports kb

So the big home race and one we always do terrible in!
I see Kennett has scraped a couple of bonus seconds so a couple more might give so something at least!
I'm off to pray in Irish to the sprint gods!

Manninen a bit boxed in and never able to get out it seems. Hopefully he can remain in the top-5 GC tonight. Luckily for Quispe no time gaps awarded on S2.
Nice win for Assa, congratulations Sykkel! And thanks for another nice sprint report, kb

Of course the one day AKA doesn't go super early, everyone stops without leadouts and he gets caught behind every to finish way out of the time bonus slots.
Mestric's breakaway ends up being a real lucky break for us though (no pun intended), as the time bonuses vault him into 14th and essentially move our GC up a few spots. in terms of total points. When 90% of the peloton is on the same time, that's super valuable for us.
Lots of PCT teams above us also means that despite the 11th place, we don't lose out to anyone we're really in competition with, except maybe Moser with Gaviria. Of course, commiserations to alex for that result—Grosu in 27th is a travesty.
Thanks for the reports and congrats to sykkel!

Nice to score 13th and 23rd in the GC from breaks. It was a tough decision not to send Hsu here, but having someone finish in front of Ewan and Grosu shows it might not have been the worst decision. Good to finally have a successful race again. Thanks for the reports and congrats to the winners! |

Great stuff from Matti to finish fifth on the day and second in GC and green. Not only great for our title push, but also having secured all sponsor goals (par the top-5 in PCT) officially now. Quispe's effort(s) on day one rewarded with some nice points as well to get him to around 100 points individually is also amazing.
Congratulations to sykkel_freak on the great Dainese win here, and conmiserations to teams such as Rabo, Xero, Tryg, Cedevita for not having their (top) sprinters deliver at all. Thank you kb for three very fine reports
