Let's look at all participating teams in detail:
| | | | | | | | | Adidas - Eurocash | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | SP | AC | | Aregger | Marcel | SWI | 33 | 70 | 70 | 77 | 75 | | Frame | Alex | NZL | 30 | 62 | 69 | 77 | 76 | | Keup | Pierre-Pascal | GER | 22 | 67 | 64 | 65 | 68 | | Schachmann | Maximillian | GER | 31 | 75 | 74 | 69 | 78 | | Tracz | Szymon | POL | 25 | 67 | 65 | 62 | 65 | | Vogt | Mario | GER | 31 | 80 | 78 | 62 | 63 | | Watson | Calvin | AUS | 30 | 78 | 76 | 62 | 72 | | Wilksch | Hannes | GER | 22 | 66 | 66 | 62 | 63
Adidas-Eurocash will focus on the trio Schachmann, Vogt and Watson.
They should hope for a better performance than in Clasico San Jose, where Vogt and Watson finished 20th and 23th.
| | | | | | | | | Air New Zealand-Alfa Romeo | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | SP | AC | | Archbold | Shane | NZL | 34 | 59 | 67 | 70 | 70 | | Costagli | Teodoro | ITA | 35 | 67 | 64 | 50 | 61 | | Diaz | Daniel Ricardo | ARG | 34 | 67 | 64 | 58 | 63 | | Naesen | Oliver | BEL | 33 | 71 | 75 | 76 | 74 | | Phelan | Adam | AUS | 32 | 74 | 73 | 64 | 79 | | Puccio | Salvatore | ITA | 34 | 64 | 73 | 58 | 52 | | Scully | Tom | NZL | 33 | 66 | 65 | 78 | 79 | | Shalunov | Evgeny | RUS | 31 | 69 | 75 | 64 | 63
We don't see a true contender in this Air New Zealand squad.
Maybe they can try to play the breakaway option.
| | | | | | | | | Babymetal Cycling | CT |

Chinese Yikui Niu finished top 20 in both Gisborne GP and Coppa Placci.
The main support will come from David Drouin and Viktor Verschaeve.
| | | | | | | | | Bordeaux Métropole - Euskotren | CT |

Bordeaux Métropole - Euskotren has been dominating the hill scene so far.
Victor Lafay won Coppa Placci and was second in Clasico San Jose. And Quentin Pacher won the opener in Gisborne GP.
| | | | | | | | | Caja Rural Cycling Team | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | SP | AC | | Adriamihajanarivo | Herizo | MAD | 33 | 71 | 66 | 58 | 66 | | Balloni | Alfredo | ITA | 34 | 63 | 62 | 60 | 62 | | Barbero | Carlos | ESP | 32 | 75 | 76 | 70 | 74 | | Barcelo | Fernando | ESP | 27 | 73 | 71 | 67 | 73 | | Garcia | Jhojan | COL | 25 | 70 | 71 | 63 | 71 | | Garcia Pierna | Raul | ESP | 22 | 66 | 63 | 67 | 65 | | Guardini | Andrea | ITA | 34 | 61 | 69 | 77 | 77 | | Sinkeldam | Ramon | NED | 34 | 72 | 69 | 65 | 63
Caja Rural only took part in Clasico San Jose, where Quevedo finished 12th.
Quevedo isn't on the startlist here, so the main focus will go to Carlos Barbero.
| | | | | | | | | Crabbe-CC Chevigny | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | SP | AC | | Altanzul | Maani | MGL | 31 | 69 | 68 | 78 | 75 | | Berckmoes | Jenno | BEL | 22 | 57 | 68 | 60 | 66 | | Edmondson | Joshua | GBR | 31 | 79 | 75 | 70 | 76 | | Fagundez | Eric Antonio | URU | 25 | 59 | 69 | 65 | 70 | | Kireva | Albert | ZIM | 33 | 68 | 71 | 69 | 71 | | Paulus | Milan | BEL | 22 | 65 | 66 | 67 | 69 | | Rubenis | Pauls | LAT | 22 | 59 | 64 | 67 | 69 | | Smirnovs | Andris | LAT | 33 | 76 | 73 | 71 | 77
Joshua Edmondson has been consistent so far for Crabbe-CC Chevigny. He finished 4th, 5th and 6th in the C2 hill classics.
Smirnovs will be the main guy to support him along the way.
| | | | | | | | | Ekoi - Le Creuset | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | SP | AC | | Jiang | Zhihui | CHN | 29 | 66 | 69 | 75 | 75 | | Karatsivis | Panagiotis | GRE | 22 | 68 | 70 | 64 | 71 | | Lammertink | Maurits | NED | 33 | 75 | 73 | 67 | 67 | | Le Gac | Olivier | FRA | 30 | 77 | 73 | 64 | 69 | | Paret-Peintre | Aurelien | FRA | 27 | 77 | 73 | 72 | 74 | | Paulus | Daniel | AUT | 30 | 77 | 71 | 62 | 71 | | Russo | Clement | FRA | 28 | 73 | 73 | 76 | 78 | | Teuns | Dylan | BEL | 31 | 78 | 73 | 66 | 72
Clement Russo takes the start as the winner of last year. Ekoi - Le Creuset puts a stellar line to this race.
We also see the likes of Dylan Teuns (4th Coppa Placci) and Aurelien Paret-Peintre (7th Gisborne) who can win as well.
| | | | | | | | | Fastned | PCT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | SP | AC | | De Kleijn | Arvid | NED | 29 | 75 | 71 | 74 | 75 | | Debesay | Yacob | ERI | 24 | 72 | 69 | 63 | 72 | | Denz | Nico | GER | 29 | 76 | 70 | 63 | 73 | | Fisher-Black | Finn | NZL | 22 | 64 | 65 | 59 | 71 | | Hessmann | Michel | GER | 22 | 65 | 73 | 60 | 67 | | Vingerling | Michael | NED | 33 | 61 | 71 | 78 | 78
PCT team Fastned will looking to pick up some minor points with De Kleijn, if he can survive through the hilly part.
| | | | | | | | | Gjensidige Pro Cycling Team | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | SP | AC | | Bourgoyne | Lucas | USA | 22 | 60 | 71 | 67 | 71 | | Della Lunga | Francesco | ITA | 22 | 64 | 61 | 67 | 65 | | Eiking | Odd Christian | NOR | 29 | 81 | 78 | 68 | 76 | | Loland | Sakarias Koller | NOR | 22 | 65 | 65 | 64 | 68 | | Lunder | Eirik | NOR | 24 | 66 | 78 | 72 | 77 | | Skjerping | Kristoffer | NOR | 30 | 77 | 71 | 58 | 65 | | Van Stayen | Michael | BEL | 35 | 73 | 67 | 78 | 69 | | Wandahl | Frederik | DEN | 22 | 70 | 70 | 65 | 68
Odd Christian Eiking is once again a big favourite for this one. He finished 3th in Clasico San Jose, 4th in Gisborne and 5th in Coppa Placci.
The first win is bound to happen, maybe now is the time.
| | | | | | | | | Hilcona Racing Team | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | SP | AC | | Aebi | Antoine | SWI | 25 | 72 | 72 | 69 | 71 | | Grmay | Tsgabu Gebremaryam | ETH | 32 | 74 | 71 | 61 | 71 | | Johanson | Kristjan | EST | 26 | 68 | 63 | 62 | 67 | | Kuypers | Gerben | BEL | 23 | 73 | 67 | 64 | 75 | | Martinelli | Alessio | ITA | 22 | 66 | 69 | 64 | 64 | | Morin | Emmanuel | FRA | 28 | 78 | 75 | 69 | 76 | | Nitu | Adrian | ROM | 33 | 73 | 71 | 51 | 68
Hilcona has Emmanuel Morin as their leader. The Frenchman was 8th in Gisborne and 6th in Clasico San Jose.
The support squad looks solid with Aebi, Grmay, Kuypers and Nitu.
| | | | | | | | | JEWA TIROL | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | SP | AC | | Boudat | Thomas | FRA | 29 | 68 | 71 | 79 | 78 | | Kabas | Maximilian | AUT | 22 | 68 | 68 | 62 | 66 | | Koep | Thomas | GER | 33 | 72 | 73 | 51 | 56 | | Lienhard | Fabian | SWI | 29 | 75 | 77 | 73 | 76 | | Muhlberger | Gregor | AUT | 29 | 75 | 69 | 68 | 74 | | Pernsteiner | Hermann | AUT | 33 | 76 | 71 | 60 | 70 | | Selig | Rüdiger | GER | 34 | 62 | 68 | 76 | 76
JEWA TIROL is doing great all season. Berhane and Grossschartner aren't here in Slovenia.
But they brought Fabian Lienhard, who has a good sprint if he can survive the uphill parts. He was already 9th in Gisborne.
| | | | | | | | | Manada Coyote | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | SP | AC | | Bulux | Fredy Domingo | GTM | 22 | 64 | 69 | 59 | 71 | | Cadena | Edgar | MEX | 23 | 67 | 74 | 65 | 64 | | Gomez | German Dario | COL | 22 | 65 | 67 | 59 | 69 | | Granados | Kevin | CRC | 22 | 67 | 68 | 68 | 71 | | Marin | Gabriel | CRC | 29 | 65 | 73 | 78 | 78 | | Murillo | Luis Esteban | CRC | 22 | 65 | 69 | 66 | 70 | | Ruiz | Bredio | PAN | 22 | 65 | 70 | 65 | 64 | | Samudio | Joseph Ivan | PAN | 24 | 60 | 71 | 66 | 67
Kristian Haugaard Jensen isn't selected by DarkWolf. He gets some rest after winning San Jose and podiuming Coppa Placci.
They will target a breakaway appearance and gain some experience for this time.
| | | | | | | | | Podium Ambition | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | SP | AC | | Canty | Brendan | AUS | 31 | 73 | 71 | 68 | 67 | | Gayral | Joshua | ANT | 26 | 72 | 70 | 71 | 72 | | Lagane | Christopher | MRI | 25 | 77 | 70 | 75 | 77 | | Le Court | Kim | MRI | 27 | 76 | 67 | 64 | 66 | | Mayer | Alexandre | MRI | 25 | 77 | 65 | 72 | 77 | | Morales Ortega | Jacob | PUR | 24 | 71 | 69 | 63 | 71 | | Mutsumine | Wataru | JPN | 31 | 77 | 73 | 63 | 71 | | Pons | Gaetan | LUX | 31 | 73 | 73 | 74 | 76
Podium Ambition is looking for a breakout performance. Christopher Lagane has the perfect skillset for this race.
Can he deliver a victory? He already finished third in the Gisborne opener.
| | | | | | | | | Saeco | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | SP | AC | | Aru | Fabio | ITA | 33 | 73 | 73 | 55 | 69 | | Ciccone | Giulio | ITA | 29 | 73 | 70 | 51 | 69 | | Colbrelli | Sonny | ITA | 33 | 60 | 72 | 78 | 73 | | Petrucci | Mattia | ITA | 23 | 66 | 66 | 61 | 66 | | Ulissi | Diego | ITA | 35 | 76 | 77 | 70 | 69 | | Vendrame | Andrea | ITA | 29 | 76 | 75 | 71 | 75 | | Zordan | Andrea | ITA | 31 | 77 | 72 | 65 | 74
Andrea Vendrame is another guy who could shine on this parcours.
Saeco has multiple cards to play with also Ulissi and Zordan (9th Coppa Placci).
| | | | | | | | | SEE Turtles | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | SP | AC | | Arissol | Ahmad | SEY | 32 | 71 | 70 | 62 | 68 | | Betancourt | Carlos | COL | 34 | 77 | 67 | 64 | 69 | | Duchesne | Antoine | CAN | 32 | 77 | 73 | 69 | 79 | | Huera | Richard | ECU | 24 | 67 | 68 | 64 | 66 | | Obando | Bryan Raul | ECU | 22 | 67 | 63 | 60 | 62 | | Tivani | German Nicolas | ARG | 28 | 67 | 68 | 77 | 78 | | Trillini | Walter | ARG | 32 | 75 | 75 | 73 | 76 | | Vermaerke | Kevin | USA | 23 | 70 | 72 | 65 | 67
SEE Turtles have Canadian Antoine Duchesne in their lineup.
He opened with a decent 6th place in Gisborne. Manager seancoll could hope for a bit more.
| | | | | | | | | Simba Cement - Tanga Fresh | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | SP | AC | | Ait El Abdia | Anass | MOR | 30 | 73 | 69 | 65 | 71 | | Barbin | Enrico | ITA | 33 | 77 | 74 | 70 | 75 | | Cisse | Issiaka | CIV | 32 | 63 | 73 | 78 | 77 | | Felline | Fabio | ITA | 33 | 76 | 74 | 73 | 77 | | Kamzong | Clovis | CMR | 32 | 72 | 70 | 65 | 68 | | Redecker | Heiko | NAM | 33 | 71 | 72 | 76 | 76 | | Weiss | Martin | AUT | 32 | 76 | 75 | 73 | 74 | | Wippert | Wouter | NED | 33 | 66 | 74 | 77 | 81
Simba Cement - Tanga Fresh have an insane depth in their hill department. Guys like Lorenzo Rota (8th Coppa Placci) and Gregory Hubentobler (7th in Clasico San Jose) aren't even selected.
They count on Enrico Barbin (9th in San Jose), Fabio Felline and Martin Weiss to bring a good result.
| | | | | | | | | Stela-Vita | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | SP | AC | | Batmunkh | Maral-Erdene | MGL | 29 | 65 | 72 | 74 | 74 | | Freuler | Jan-Andre | SWI | 31 | 75 | 73 | 67 | 75 | | Groselj | Ziga | SLO | 30 | 75 | 72 | 72 | 72 | | Luchshenko | Sergey | KAZ | 29 | 75 | 77 | 75 | 75 | | Merlier | Tim | BEL | 31 | 68 | 72 | 78 | 74 | | Touze | Damien | FRA | 27 | 70 | 73 | 70 | 72 | | Urcelay | Adria | AND | 29 | 70 | 71 | 57 | 71 | | Villella | Davide | ITA | 32 | 77 | 72 | 65 | 80
Another stacked team with Stela-Vita, who is doing great in their opening season.
Sergey Luchschenko was second in Gisborne. But also the likes of Davide Villella or Ziga Groselj could score here.
| | | | | | | | | Strava | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | SP | AC | | Bernas | Pawel | POL | 33 | 74 | 73 | 69 | 71 | | Bouhanni | Nacer | FRA | 33 | 62 | 72 | 79 | 75 | | Gaday | Lucas Manuel | ARG | 30 | 75 | 75 | 71 | 73 | | Nielsen | Joanis Albert | FAR | 30 | 67 | 71 | 73 | 71 | | Sbaragli | Kristian | ITA | 33 | 65 | 74 | 76 | 76 | | Tarvis | Peeter | EST | 30 | 74 | 74 | 64 | 72
Sarawut Sirironnachai was the hills leader in their other classics (best result was 13th in San Jose), but he isn't selected by Shonak.
Lucas Gaday and Pawel Bernas look like to be their main guys.
| | | | | | | | | Tafjord Kraft | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | SP | AC | | Asgreen | Kasper | DEN | 28 | 77 | 70 | 64 | 74 | | Bardet | Romain | FRA | 33 | 73 | 70 | 51 | 73 | | De la Cruz | David | ESP | 34 | 72 | 67 | 57 | 68 | | Dyrnes | Kristian | NOR | 31 | 78 | 73 | 65 | 77 | | Eriksson | Lucas | SWD | 27 | 78 | 78 | 65 | 76 | | Hoem | Bjorn Tore | NOR | 32 | 72 | 74 | 58 | 62 | | Ludvigsson | Fredrik | SWD | 29 | 76 | 74 | 67 | 76 | | Waersted | Syver | NOR | 27 | 67 | 69 | 78 | 79
Tafjord Kraft chose to skip San Jose and Gisborne in the beginning of the season. Dyrnes was seventh in their first hill outing in Coppa Placci.
Dyrnes and Eriksson are their best options, although they could lack the necessary sprint skill to finish it off in a small group.
| | | | | | | | | Team Würth MODYF | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | SP | AC | | Finkst | Tilen | SLO | 28 | 67 | 69 | 68 | 70 | | Grosser | Aaron | GER | 27 | 74 | 74 | 75 | 75 | | Heinrich | Nicolas | GER | 22 | 59 | 63 | 67 | 72 | | Hindley | Jai | AUS | 27 | 76 | 75 | 67 | 73 | | Koch | Jonas | GER | 30 | 70 | 71 | 72 | 73 | | Stalberg | Albin | SWD | 22 | 59 | 62 | 71 | 69 | | Vangheluwe | Warre | BEL | 22 | 61 | 68 | 61 | 69 | | Willwohl | Willi | GER | 29 | 65 | 71 | 79 | 78
Aaron Grosser and Jai Hindley lead the line up of Würth MODYF. Grosser finished 10th in Gisborne, Hindley was 11th in San Jose.
Again they are outsiders to win this race.
| | | | | | | | | Trans Looney Tunes | PCT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | SP | AC | | Doull | Owain | GBR | 30 | 65 | 71 | 73 | 73 | | Jang | Gyung Gu | KOR | 33 | 75 | 70 | 65 | 72 | | Katrasnik | Gasper | SLO | 28 | 63 | 72 | 63 | 72 | | Munoz | Cristian | COL | 27 | 73 | 67 | 57 | 70 | | Murn | Bostjan | FRA | 22 | 65 | 71 | 60 | 66 | | Pibernik | Luka | SLO | 30 | 76 | 76 | 68 | 74 | | Stimulak | Klemen | SLO | 33 | 65 | 69 | 71 | 72 | | Tulett | Ben | GBR | 22 | 65 | 68 | 63 | 68
Luka Pibernik is the best shot for PCT based Trans Looney Tunes.
They have three riders who hope to shine on home soil.
| | | | | | | | | Tryg - Gobik | PCT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | SP | AC | | Blume Levy | William | DEN | 22 | 60 | 68 | 68 | 69 | | Currie | Logan | NZL | 22 | 61 | 67 | 63 | 70 | | Enggaard | Victor Grue | SLO | 22 | 65 | 71 | 60 | 66 | | Kump | Marko | SLO | 35 | 73 | 70 | 77 | 74 | | Sander Hansen | Marcus | DEN | 23 | 62 | 69 | 65 | 64 | | Van De Paar | Jarne | BEL | 23 | 61 | 65 | 65 | 69 | | Wulff Frederiksen | Oliver | DEN | 23 | 60 | 64 | 67 | 66
Another two Slovenians on the start list, with good old Marko Kump being one of them. Can he surprise one more time?
He already won his 'home' race two years ago as C2HC.
| | | | | | | | | Xero Racing | PCT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | SP | AC | | Boileau | Alan | FRA | 24 | 72 | 66 | 66 | 72 | | Novardianto | Jamalidin | INA | 29 | 68 | 70 | 73 | 79 | | Pinzon | Edgar Andres | COL | 22 | 67 | 69 | 64 | 67 | | Ramirez | Jhon Stiven | COL | 24 | 66 | 65 | 60 | 62 | | Tesfaye Heyi | Henok | ETH | 30 | 73 | 74 | 68 | 73 | | Van Niekerk | Morne | RSA | 28 | 67 | 73 | 61 | 67
Another PCT team to close out the preview. No real contender for Xero Racing.
Talents like Pinzon, Ramirez and Boileau could maybe look for the breakaway.

So how is T3A gonna f*ck this one up? Somehow i expect Mutsumine to be our best finisher in 28th, whilst the perfect trio of Lagane, Meyer and Pons somehow turn crashes back on, and underrated Gayral punctures.

The Return of the Hills!
Not sure how this one'll play out, and if Luca isn't our best hope again. Would love to continue our good streak and doing better than last year. Maybe doing like in Gisborn or Zuri, and have Luca or Quentin with a group of pure puncheurs is the way to go. I think we have the team to do that.
Thanks for the preview, good luck everyone:

Would love to see Eiking win, but I smell a Villella masterclass.

I think Felline should captain us here, but we have several options. Redecker could also contest a sprint if he makes it over the hills

First of all thanks to laurens for the preview, I really like your team-by-team approach! Of course it's even easier to like with sentences like this
We once again bring our complete puncheur squad to our goal race (Top 5), but we're not the only ones with that goal race and that approach, so everything's possible from a win to a 18th place as best result. Only good we should be covered for all eventualities with Teuns or APP for the attacks (the latter even for a small group sprint) up to Russo for the sprint in a non-selective race. Not so good we weren't the only ones with that idea once again ...
Apart from that I'd really like to see our loan-out Boileau in the break as our own riders most probably won't be there.

Not really the C2 result I was hoping for. Lienhard is a dissapointment so far.

The sense of relief is unreal. A flop in this race would have really killed me and potentially ended the project (seriously). There is arguably no better event on the entire calendar for the T3A punchers, so i am just relieved.
The lack of support scoring from Pons (24th isn't bad) and Meyer (38th is bad) does pretty much put to bed the promotion hopes. But it's compensated by securing the Win Goal and the tasty tasty funds that'll provide for training.
I genuinely feel like a weight is lifted with this result, and have a level of faith restored this dumbass Caribbean project could work in the end.

Congrats to TMM for this big win, I think we're all glad if we still see the Pirates in the peloton next year
8th for APP is okay-ish, but I have the feeling we should have got more out of this race.

Wow, great win by Podium Ambition! Congrats TMM.
10th is definately not what we came for.
Wonder how the CT-table look like now, cause we have not been impressive lately.
Thank you Abhiskhek! |

If we had to loose to anybody, it was great to see Podium Ambition and TMM take it.
Hill focus is not the way to go to grab points. Got hands down, the number 1 favorite with 3-4 more Hill points then the field and all get out of it is 4th?

Big congrats to TMM on a great win here! As you said, if there was one classic on the calendar tailor-made for Lagane, it was this one for sure! Hopefully this result will wake up the rest of the pirates gang to ignite the promotion flame again

Yes Luca! 2nd to Lagane is very good, and he adds to our strong results in the hills indeed. When he was in the front group, it would always be a perfect finish for him.
Not much depth points, but with TOME, that's good results in C2 races to somewhat make up for our absence in C1...
Thank you for the report Abi, congrats TMM, that win was long due.

Nice to see this race being semi selective which isn't always the case. Still the right rider won in my opinion. Congrats to Podium Ambition

Redecker didn't make it over the hills, but fantastic with a podium for Felline

Niu put in his best but nothing to do against the strong competition! Congrats to Lagane and Podium Ambition with that sprint from the front! |
