Saeco
Saeco hasn't been seen in the peloton since 2004. A year wherin we had celebrated two Giro stages with Bario Conte and Mario Cipolini, a Tour stage with Salvatore Commeso and the Tour de Romandie GC with Paolo Savodelli.
Since then, things have changed for the company. Saeco has been bought by Philips in 2009. Yet it still lives on as a quality brand of manual, super-automatic and capsule espresso machines and other electrical goods with headquarters and factories in Gaggio Montano near Bologna.
The Saeco coffee machines maintain a large market share in Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Czech Republic and Germany. With lesser, but noteworthy presence in Turkey, Slovenia, Poland and Estonia.
Philips in the mean time has pumped a lot of money into a succesful cycling team, today known as Sony - Force India. However, where the cycling team is slowly growing to glory, the company Philips is doing poorly. This caused them to reconsider their sponsoring strategies, pulling out of the PCT and focussing on a different brand with a smaller budget in the CT.
Philips Saeco S.p.A. have announced to invest in forming a new project in the continental cycling circuit. It's team will proudly wear the Saeco name, and wear similar jerseys as the 2004 team.
''Saeco are proud of Italian coffee and espresso, as we are proud of Italian cycling. We will ensure that our core is Italian. Yet we must also not forget our presence in Switzerland, Austria, Czech Republic and Germany. These countries will have some presence within Saeco's future. To what extent will be seen.''

Welcome here!
I don't know whether I needed some more competition in the Italian market as I try to get in, but that should make some more nice competition.
See you soon on the road!

Good to have some coffee machine competition
I'll be saying for Switzerland what Ezee told you for Germany - no need to worry for Swiss riders, we're already three teams over here
Welcome on board anyway, looking forward to see your project take shape!

Welcome to the game, and nice to see you going for a focus region where you should be able to find both great existing riders, but also some very interesting talents Best of luck!

Welcome in the CT! Nice to see such a classic jersey in the peloton.
Your transfer season will be quite interesting with some new teams from Italy and Austria probably going after the same riders. Best of luck there!

Welcome to the game!
It's always nice to see a team with a clear idea on what they want to do. Those are some good regions to focus on and I'm sure you'll be able to find the riders you need to accomplish your goals.
Good luck

Welcome aboard! Cool to see Saeco again. As a manager who have great love for the 90’s and early 2000’s cycling I really love this. I had Festina for a decade or so
Also about time that we have some more focus on Italian riders again. They had massive power when I joined the game where riders like Cunego, Ricco, Bennati, Ballan and Pozzato was among the very best riders in the DB. A lot has happened since!

@SotD: Those are my favourite years too! So much great jerseys in the early '00s, Credit Agricole, early AG2R, early FDJ, O.N.C.E., Fassa Bortolo, T-Mobile, Phonak. I was very much debating picking any of these teams, but I'm happy that I stuck to my all-time favourites in Saeco.
@AbhishekLFC: Haha, I've learned that Philips was also a team. Would be a cool storyline for a loan or two
@Ezeefreak: I appreciate the welcome! Yea, I'm going to be hunting in Germany every now and then. We'll have enough with a handful.
@Imladrik: My goal is ~70% Italian, not sure if I'll go that far, but I'll sure prioritize the Italians
@Fabianski: Haha, I've heard there's around 4 quality Swiss teams, that will be cruel battles for the swiss.
And thanks everybody, for the shared love of the Saeco jersey. I'm very excited for this game, can't wait for free agency to start. |

The retro vibes are strong and certainly has earned another early fan here. You seem to be getting nicely involved in things so welcome and enjoy the CT. It's great fun!

As others have mentioned love the clean and retro jersey - think I may even have a Saeco jersey of some description somewhere in my drawers
Interested in how you negotiate the European markets but very excited to see what you bring. Eight years since you registered, surely have been biding your time for something great

Welcome to the game! It'll be fun to see what kind of team you're able to put together with a partial Swiss focus. We complain a lot about the tight market for Swiss riders, but really the competition can be enjoyable and there's traditionally always been enough for all of the teams to land a handful of exciting riders.

I really had to check twice to find out that there never was a Saeco team in the MG after your real life 2004 link to Saeco. I was pretty sure that there must have been one once, but couldn`t find it anywhere.
So good luck with this project. Italy has some kind of room for more teams I think, in especially as the biggest teams stopped some time ago already. As I also just stepped down from secondary Nation, I might follow your team closer to see if some old riders make their way to your team. |

I thought so too, but I think it was just one of the managers having a Cunego avatar from the Saeco days. Can't really remember who it was right now. Maybe whitejersey or Pellizotii2?
Anyway, good luck with your project, ShinyShinx. Very nice sponsor choice.
