A group of 14, lead by Geoghegan Hart and Holmes crosses the summit with more than 2 minutes on the rest of the riders.
Here we have: Holmes, Geoghegan Hart, Pidcock, Carthy, Cuming, Know, Williams, Donovan, Carr, Yates, Edmondson, Rioswell, Hayter and Wright.
Geoghegan Hart attacks with 20 km left.
Pidcock does the work to catch him, which drops a group of 6 with Edmondson and Roswell in it.
Another attack for the man in lime! Carthy and Williams are on his wheel.
Carr works to bring 13 men together with 13 km left.
Geoghegan Hart tried another attack in the penultimate climb, but Carthy counters. 10 km left to ride, and he gets a gap. Yates is not far – the Moser rider is lapped.
Last climb of the day! Carthy has a small margin on Edmondson, Geoghegan Hart and Yates. His helpers are a bit behind.
3 km left. Nobody can close the gaps.
Carthy has 15 seconds under the red kite. Geoghegan Hart is too tired to come back, and Yates doesn’t seem to want to work.
He was the favourites, and he wins in style! Carthy is the 2022 champion of Great Britain.
Edmondson is 2nd, Yates 3rd. Geoghegan Hart’s work is not rewarded, as he finishes at the foot of the podium.

Hayter is in a great position to make the double for cycleYorkshire. Christian and Geoghegan Hart are his main contenders.
Kennaugh is the first to get a good time at the first time-check (26’13). He finishes in 1h6’30, a time which should stay the leading one until the three favourites are on the road.
Geoghegan Hart is the first of them on the road. He can’t do better than Kennaugh and Knox on the first time-check. He’s easily beaten by Hayter, who’s already 21 seconds faster. Chrisitian is in the same time as Geoghegan Hart.
It’s not better in the 2nd third of the race for Geoghegan Hart. He still is in Kennaugh’s time. Hayter extends its lead to 35 seconds, while Christian can’t do better than in the first third.
