 [C1] GP Kigali
Welcome to the capital of Rwanda for the 8th edition of the GP Kigali.
The race is just 150 km short and has a rather flat profile, but some short and steep hills, paved sectors and even combinations of both make it a very challenging parcours nonetheless - similar to some of the Flemish classics like Gent-Wevelgem or even the Ronde. So expect a hard race in which only the strongest riders can compete for the win.
The race has not one of the longest histories in the calendar, nor has it found its place as its category oscillated between HC, C1 and C2 in its short history, arriving once again in C1 this year. But the past editions nonetheless were spectacular, with just one edition decided by the sprint of a group of two while all other winners came to the finish line alone. The time differences were enormous, with 10th place more than 5 minutes or 30th place more than 15 minutes down being quite normal.
The sole record winner is Danny Summerhill with consecutive wins in the first two editions of the race. But the American has long grown out of this category of races, so the only former winners at the start this year are Vanspeybrouck (also 2nd last year) and defending champion Van Keirsbulck who are also among the favourites.
Previous winners:

The startlist is rather short, composed of only 9 PCT and 4 CT teams. This reflects the results of the previous editions which had no bunch sprints, successful breakaways or anything that comes near, making clear that this race favours only one type of rider: the cobbler. So we will only look at them as favourites.
Cobblers:
As the race was nearly always won by a solo effort, there’s no need to consider sprint abilities, so we focus mainly on the cobble stats. There’s a bunch of good to excellent cobblers here (which is no surprise given the profile and the history of the race), but there are some that stand out - especially regarding their team support they are Blythe and Vanbilsen.

Break of the Day:
As mentioned above, the chances for a win from the break are near 0%. Given the last editions results it’s even possible that there won’t be a real break - or at least not for long. Nonetheless here are the best bets for those desperados that might try it anyway.

Honourable Mentions:
We have two Rwandans on the startlist, both here for Bralirwa – Stevens:
Shemu Nsengiyumva and Renus Uhiriwe. Apart from being teammates and compatriots they have some other things in common too: They are young (23 and 21) and their nationality’s probably the only reason they’re here, as both are terrible cobblers (61 and 60).

We're here with Benoot and the Kuroedas and while we're not on the favourites' list, I do expect Benoot to be quite suited to this race. This is an important race for us, so here's hoping it turns out well.
Thanks for the preview

We’ve brought the best we have for this race. Lets hope this race is really similar to Gent Wevelgem, so Saber can win this one too good luck to everyone and thanks for the preview.

Obviously a race that we love, due to our cobbbles centric history! Hopefully we get some good results here since our squad should be more than capable of producing multiple riders in the top 10 and even top 5 on great days!
Thanks for the preview!

Bewley had his moments this year. Maybe not the perfect profile here, but the competition ain't climbing much better, so.. hoping for a Top-10 at least!

Trentin had a bad start to the year, a very consistent middle, and athen some poor performances lately. Let's hope he can get back to his best here.
Thanks for the preview!

Obviously a big one for us. We were 16th and 11th in our previous two attempts, which both times was very underwhelming and I very much hope that Stallaert can improve on that. He's not a great puncheur but he's done well in for instance Dunkerque so a good result is possible.
Thanks very much for the special shoutout to Nsengiyumva and Uhiriwe. I hope that at some point I'll return here with Rwandans that can actually be more competitive.

Thanks for a great report! Wild that Bewley takes this one home but the man is just different gravy. Kinda sad that Riesebeek had a mechanical, maybe we would have been able to do more, but Daniel in 5th and three other riders in the top 25 provides us with a decent haul of points. Only Battenkill left for Daniel now as Rowe will be taking leadership in Rheden due to a band selection error on my part. I think overall I can be pretty content with Daniel's season. But a podium here would have been massive!
Congrats to tsmoha on another great win, midas touch this season for him!

Losing to Sam Bewley is an honor every time. GOAT.
Trentin in 4th is a very solid result that I am more than content with. That's about where I expect him every time, and when he accomplishes it, I'm happy. He seemed to play it well. A little disappointed int he depth scoring though. When we had 3 guys in the group of 30 riders, I hoped for more than 28th from one of them. But Girmay catching the attackers took the steam out of that.
Thanks for the report!

Good result! Not great, but very close. As others have said, you can't be mad at another Bewley highlight and this is a great race for Gaday, so fair play to them. 3rd is very good for Joeri, attentive all day and well supported, too. Okbamariam scores a few points and while Menicucci fell short of those, he was an absolute delight, fantastic to see us so active and strong in our home race. Thank you Nemo for bringing it to life, as always!

We were hoping for a Top 5 but two in the Top 10 makes up for it I guess. Good stuff from Shiki to stay with Benoot till the end. Our depth paying off again on the cobbles is good to see.
Congrats to tsmoha and thanks for the report Nemo
