Welcome to the 5th edition of the Hanko Classic. The Finnish sprinter's classic is a relatively young race on the MG calendar, but the same course is also used on one of the stages of the Baltic Chain Tour. With 201 km in length it's very flat and has always provided us with a sprint finish. Stamina isn't an issue given how well protected the sprinters are for the majority of the race. So expect a battle between the fast men.
With that said let's look at some of the favourites:
Sprinter | FL | RS | SP | AC | Leadout | FL | RS | SP | AC | Ahlstrand | 74 | 73 | 83 | 82 | Samudio | 69 | 67 | 65 | 66 | Halvorsen | 76 | 71 | 81 | 80 | Räim | 74 | 72 | 76 | 75 | Vesely | 73 | 68 | 81 | 80 | Hodeg | 72 | 74 | 79 | 78 | Kragh Andersen | 77 | 74 | 81 | 77 | Forssell | 66 | 71 | 74 | 74 | Enger | 73 | 73 | 81 | 78 | Pedersen | 76 | 76 | 77 | 77 | Howard | 75 | 69 | 81 | 78 | Suryadi | 71 | 68 | 79 | 76 | Silvestre | 78 | 71 | 80 | 81 | Okbamariam | 73 | 73 | 72 | 68 | Bonifazio | 79 | 75 | 80 | 80 | Weemaes | 71 | 69 | 71 | 71 | Bouhanni | 74 | 69 | 80 | 77 | Colbrelli | 74 | 72 | 79 | 75 | Reinhardt | 71 | 66 | 79 | 84 | Liepins | 73 | 68 | 78 | 79 | Rowe | 78 | 70 | 79 | 80 | Thwaites | 73 | 70 | 78 | 76 | Coutinho | 72 | 74 | 79 | 80 | Van der Haar | 77 | 72 | 72 | 70 | Scully | 74 | 70 | 79 | 80 | Stash | 73 | 73 | 77 | 77 | Afewerki | 73 | 70 | 79 | 80 | Cisse | 74 | 67 | 78 | 77 | Lutsyshyn | 70 | 73 | 79 | 80 | Riabushenko | 76 | 74 | 79 | 77 | Houle | 78 | 71 | 79 | 78 | Novardianto | 76 | 78 | 73 | 79 | Guardini | 71 | 67 | 79 | 80 | Domene | 73 | 68 | 74 | 75 | Krieger | 71 | 74 | 79 | 79 | Omarsson | 69 | 65 | 67 | 70 | Willwohl | 73 | 67 | 79 | 78 | Boeckmans | 69 | 65 | 77 | 77 | Bertilsson | 73 | 71 | 79 | 77 | Andersson | 71 | 73 | 76 | 76 |
Ahlstrand is still searching for a big win and even though he's the #1 favourite, he'll be surfing the wheels here. Halvorsen has been doing very well this season, justifying his offseason training. Vesely will try to bottle his recent PT form. Kragh Andersen hasn't reached the heights from last quiet yet, maybe here? Enger tends to be unspectacular, but solid in his results. A top 5 finish looks in reach for him here.
Howard on the other hand has had some rotten luck this year, he would deserve a great result. Silvestre is a consistent performer, always contending for the top spots. Bonifazio was 3rd here last year so he'll be hoping for a similar result. Bouhanni is the last of the 80 sprinters, but he was a top 10 finisher last year as well.
| FL | ST | RS | SP | AC | FT | Rowe | 78 | 76 | 70 | 79 | 80 | 75 | Dzamastagic | 78 | 76 | 72 | 76 | 78 | 78 | Varga | 77 | 76 | 73 | 65 | 80 | 83 | Houle | 78 | 76 | 71 | 79 | 78 | 70 | Novardianto | 76 | 70 | 78 | 73 | 79 | 74 | Kurianov | 79 | 76 | 74 | 75 | 70 | 72 | Pedersen | 76 | 73 | 76 | 77 | 77 | 71 | Bolor-Erdene | 77 | 71 | 77 | 64 | 73 | 71 | Breen | 77 | 72 | 72 | 73 | 72 | 74 | Van der Haar | 77 | 70 | 72 | 72 | 70 | 76 |
Rowe and Houle could either be sprinter or dangerous attackers. The latter for sure are, Dzamastagic and Varga both have classics victories on their resume this season. Breen and Van der Haar should have 'free roles' in their teams also, but the Hanko Classic has never gone to an attacker before, maybe this year is a first?

Go go Silvestre! I hope we get a good sprint finish without rouleur interference. Then, Top 3 is honestly possible in this field, though of course in sprints there's never a guarantee for anything. But hopefully Fabio will be in good enough a position to deliver a nice result. Thanks for the preview, looking forward to the race!

Another Howard race Please don’t make me tear my hair out, Leigh.
Thanks for the preview red! I know it’s always ended in a sprint, but with how many late attack shenanigans have been going on this season I wonder if they’ll make it stick here?

Thanks for the preview!
In hindsight I should moved around some pieces between here and Norway but we have a good shot at producing some great results with multiple riders capable of contesting a sprint or a late attack!

I should have gone for Eislers here. Hopefully Reinhardt can make a top 10, like the Norway sprints.
Thanks red for the preview!

Hopefully the game doesn't agree that AKA is the 4th best sprinter.
Never know what to expect. AKA has been much worse than last year in stage races, but he's had his moments in classics. Obviously I'd like this to be one of them, but it's really just up to the sprint gods.
Thanks for the preview!

Silvestre looked very strong there, bit unfortunate that he wasn't able to latch on to the Minions, otherwise it could have been an even better result. 5th is completely acceptable, but given some of his earlier results, we could use a true overperformance here or there. Good to see the team working in the peloton, too, though as always no one remains at the front for depth points.
Thanks for the report, red!

Very fun race to follow! Nice to see Dzama have the energy to finish inside the top 4 despite his attack earlier on in the race!
Congrats to sykkel on the win!

Starting off positive: Vesely did not attack and finished in decent points.
But why did it have to be us building the train? In races like this it's a death sentence. Could have been much better than eleventh.
Thanks for the report redordead and congrats Sykkel_Freak!

Not our year I guess. AKA was generally around and even had teammates, but he didn't really make a go of it. 13th at C1 is pretty much nothing.
Congrats to Sykkel and thanks for a great report redordead!

A huge and suprising win after what has been a difficult season so far! Great sprint by Coutinho, even after taking quite a bit of wind leading up to the final km.
Thanks for the congratulations and thanks a lot for the report!

Houle and Dzama could have had it all. Instead a nothing race
