The last result in this race did not undermine the will of the sprinting teams to send their best elements. As expected, the field is packed with world class riders in the likes of Gaviria, Ahlstrand and Van der Lijke. The last one has the strongest lead-out with Moser, but we know that’s not always a guarantee of a good result.

Another victory from a breakaway will need a strong and daring attack, as well as the capacity to hold on against the pack. Katrasnik has already shown that he can do it, though it was with another team. Other strong men present in Australia are Culey and Brockhoff, while some that are not cited here, like Arashiro or Cherkasov could also play a big role.
