Le Samyn is a rather young race on the MG calendar, first debuting in 2018 and now back after a break last year. Placed in Belgium, but not in Flanders it's in the south of the cobble loving country, it still retains most of the typical qualities of cobbled classic. 200 km is a fair distance, but the cobbled sections are mostly flat with asphalt roads providing the elevation. A sprint of a somewhat reduced group is a likely outcome.
With that said let's look at some of the favourites:
| FL | HI | ST | RS | CB | SP | AC | Stallaert | 77 | 67 | 76 | 68 | 81 | 79 | 76 | Blythe | 75 | 65 | 74 | 69 | 81 | 75 | 71 | Vanbilsen | 78 | 69 | 80 | 74 | 80 | 72 | 71 | Daniel | 73 | 69 | 76 | 76 | 80 | 76 | 72 | Trentin | 73 | 73 | 74 | 69 | 80 | 74 | 74 | Bewley | 74 | 67 | 72 | 70 | 79 | 79 | 77 | Breen | 77 | 70 | 72 | 72 | 78 | 73 | 72 | David | 74 | 75 | 76 | 74 | 78 | 70 | 73 | Gaday | 71 | 75 | 75 | 72 | 78 | 71 | 73 | Gamper | 77 | 66 | 77 | 77 | 78 | 63 | 71 | Moulingui | 74 | 71 | 71 | 71 | 78 | 65 | 68 | Owen | 73 | 69 | 73 | 71 | 78 | 64 | 71 |
Stallaert dominated on the cobbles in PCT last year and there is not much inditication he couldn't do the same again. Plus he's the only rider here that can boast of winning this race, as he did back in 2019. His main competitors are quite similar to last year. Blythe can match his CB stat, but falls a bit short everywhere else. Vanbilsen can match Stallaert as an engine, but lacks a bit of sprinting capabilities compared to his compatriot. Daniel and Trentin are both well balanced, but the danger might be the one and only Sam Bewley. The Kiwi is still a top rider and if he can stick around then he is the rider that can outsprint even Stallaert.
| FL | HI | ST | RS | CB | SP | AC | Kuroeda | 74 | 63 | 72 | 73 | 77 | 74 | 78 | Zhupa | 75 | 67 | 78 | 74 | 77 | 74 | 68 | Manamalage | 81 | 59 | 71 | 64 | 77 | 57 | 56 | Kuroeda | 72 | 70 | 76 | 77 | 76 | 76 | 73 | Sweeck | 73 | 68 | 71 | 72 | 76 | 70 | 71 | Rowe | 78 | 66 | 76 | 70 | 75 | 79 | 80 | De Buyst | 73 | 70 | 73 | 75 | 75 | 76 | 76 | Van der Haar | 77 | 72 | 70 | 72 | 75 | 72 | 70 | De Witte | 74 | 68 | 75 | 72 | 75 | 71 | 69 | Lindeman | 72 | 63 | 70 | 67 | 75 | 73 | 74 | Lecourt De Billot | 75 | 69 | 74 | 73 | 75 | 61 | 74 |
Skipping a few of the domestiques that may be working for their leaders it's the fast finishers or attackers that could provide an upset. The Kuroeda brothers are both adept at those two things. Zhupa has a decent sprint when he gets up and running. Manamalage definitely needs to look to get up the road at some point. Rowe might be working for his leader Daniel, but he's too good of a rider to ignore if he gets some freedom to attack or get in a sprint.

Third cobbled race for us, one great and one anonymous (find it hard to be too down about that considering what the expectations are, but would have liked a breakaway). Let's see what this one brings Thanks for the preview red!
Also just realised looking in our HQ after this and the end of Portugal we only have one race until the middle of April. So might like to do something memorable for that occasion

Surely a race, where we expect Bewley to deliver a podium or not much less! No pressure, Sam

Gamper has been so good this season, I'll settle for a top 10!
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

We need more hills in these races.
Similar startlist and setup to Omloop, with Bewley added in. I expect it to be a little easier and sprint to matter a little more. Top 5 like Omloop is the goal, hopefully with at least one of our other guys scoring too.

Will take a repeat of Omloop. All cobbles races are mostly an experiment this time.
Thanks for the preview Red

If Zhupa can repeat his Omloop top 10 I will be delighted.

Well, a lesser race was bound to happen. A very weird result though!

Great stuff from our team (Schreurs and Monk, as it seems) to control the race until the decisive moves happened. Bewley with a perfect position then and a somewhat dominating sprint for the win! Glad to see him winning for the team, he always belonged to
Thanks for the report!

Congrats to tsmoha on the win, a bit of a weird race but we control our losses pretty well here with three riders in the top 12 at least, securing us a solid points haul. Thanks for the report.

Race stayed together a lot longer than I expected, and I became a little worried it wasn't gonna break up. Not that I wouldn't have a good option in Lander if it did come to a sprint, but Trentin was our main guy.
Really happy with his third place here. He followed the moves attentively and went for the sprint, just like he should. In that scenario Bewley was always going to be stronger, and David followed the right wheel. I'm really happy with a podium. Trentin is doing better now after that awful Franceville. A couple more minor placings would still be nice, but I'm happy with our scoring here for sure.
Thanks for the report redordead and congrats to tsmoha!

Bewley just doing Bewley things, no matter his age. Great win, congrats tsmoha!
Really happy to see David delivering for Sauber as well, and Trentin delivering is nice to see after some worrying results! And obviously a great outcome for Tafjord, too, with Breen taking 4th.
No clue however why Stallaert just didn't follow the important moves; maybe he just relied too much on his team which wasn't strong enough. But I guess a non-win was bound to happen sooner or later
Thanks to red for a great report of some nice racing, was fun to follow

A second second place finish for David in 2 races for us is really nice to see. He's helping us get points on the board early in our attempt to survive.

Think we could have played it better given the numbers we had but nice to see Owen get a good result nonetheless and some riders in the top 20.
