Milano - Torino: Preview
A mainstay in world cycling and a race with a lot of history, teams from the Continental and Pro-Continental Tour head to Italy for the much renowned Milano - Torino.
191.6km of which the first half is relatively flat but the back half is the complete opposite as the riders begin a slow incline before a sharp rollercoaster finish which will allow the strongest puncheurs in the 2 divisions to set themselves apart and take a victory late in the season.
There is a strong field present here in Italy with the strongest trio being Toms Skujins, Tomohiro Kinoshita and Edvald Boasson Hagen.
Wilco Kelderman may not be quite as strong as the above trio but he did win this race last year, although in a weaker field.
Michal Kwiatkowski and Eduard Alexander Beltran have had many fantastic battles over the years and this may well continue here as we approach the finish in Mongreno.
Jay McCarthy is another capable rider who will be expecting to be competitive and motivated for a Top 5 at the very least.
Finally, the best representatives from the CT are Odd Christian Eiking, an aggressive rider with a strong kick, and Ian Boswell who isn't as aggressive but is experienced and knows how to win races.

Oops, thought I had sent Moscon here, but apparently he ran out of RDs ^^
However, Masnada should be pretty well-suited to this rollercoaster course. Pernie has often been of great help in such races, so let's see what this duo can bring home. Beating a 19th place in Lugano must definitely be the goal, but the competition is huge! And not getting a mention in the favs list isn't necessarily a good thing - although it raises my hopes that Schmid will once again join a breakaway here.
Thanks for the preview, LLS!

This is just a training race towards Emilia for us. No pressure on needing a result.
Thanks for the preview and go go Philips!!

A reach for Boswell this one, but hopefully some minor placings.

Thus begins Kelderman's three-part audition for whoever will sign him next season! First impressions are always important, so let's hope he makes a good one
Thanks for the preview And thanks for the support.

Hopeful for Kwiatkowski here. The final hills look tough, fingers crossed Galta can play a part here, setting him up nicely on the penultimate climb, before Kwiatkowski does a solo attack for the win. Sounds easy, right? On a more serious note, I really hope for a podium here, but it all comes down to how the final kilometers are raced. Hopefully we get a difficult race where the best hybrids excel |

Great, PCM suddenly prefers one-dimensional riders... Getting no points from this one is really ridiculous. Masnada got a GC Top10 in TdS and is unable to keep up on those minor bumps, sure... ^^ At the last ranking update, it didn't look too bad for us, but in the last couple of races PCM just hated us and so we're on the way down I guess.
Congrats to Aker, guess you're on track for the title.

Well, could have been worse I guess, sixth is amongst his better performances but Hagen had a nice lead...
Thanks for the report LLS, and congrats ember!

Quite a day for Norwegian cycling here, with Kwiatkowski taking the win for a Norwegian team and then three Norwegians in the top 8. Congrats on the win, ember!

Not quite as scripted, but perfectly executed by Kwiatkowski! He showed great patience in the final kilometers there, having just enough left to have a strong push all the way to the line. Very happy with that one
Thank you for the report, LLS, and thank you for all your congratulations! |

Toms Skujins: top of the favourites list, not even in the Top 10. Again. I should've spent the darn money on training Hoelgaard. |

14th not great by Boswell but not that far off expectations.

It's another relative disappointment for Kelderman who only manages 9th.
Story of most of my MG life! One rider has set us back about 4 years in MG.
Thanks for the report LLS and congrats to Aker

A bit disappointing considering our team here and our need for points, but it could have been much worse. Thanks for the report!

I was hoping for better from Philips
As for us, it seems Beltran pretty much used up most of his energy chasing and setting up the win for Kwiatkowski. So in that case 3rd is a very good result, even though we don't need it at all.
Congrats ember, I don't wanna hear any more Beltran always beats Kwiato talk
Thanks for the report

I swear Gesink sometimes just seems he's taking the piss. Well anyway, this was never going to go our way. Congrats again ember. This just isn't your division, what are you doing here anyway?
