Welcome to only the 2nd edition of the Arab Tour. No climbing in this Middle East race, it's all about sprints and time-trials. There is a 10 km time-trial to start the race, followed by two sprint stages that feature just enough bumps in the road to justify a KOM classification. Stage 4 in a 19 km time-trial before one more sprint stage to end the race.
With that said let's look at some of the favourites:
| FL | TT | RS | PR | Zmorka | 74 | 82 | 75 | 82 | Durbridge | 73 | 81 | 74 | 81 | Howson | 71 | 80 | 74 | 80 | Kittel | 74 | 80 | 69 | 80 | Viennet | 72 | 80 | 75 | 80 | Fiedler | 76 | 80 | 71 | 79 | Dillier | 70 | 80 | 77 | 79 | Oliveira | 70 | 79 | 72 | 79 | Viviani | 78 | 79 | 77 | 79 | Coppel | 73 | 79 | 72 | 79 | Haugard | 72 | 79 | 77 | 79 | Mullen | 75 | 80 | 74 | 78 | Thomas | 73 | 78 | 73 | 79 | Cosnefroy | 76 | 78 | 81 | 78 | Balloni | 73 | 78 | 71 | 78 | Sterbini | 68 | 78 | 73 | 78 | Robert | 66 | 78 | 68 | 78 | Kwok | 75 | 78 | 71 | 78 | Mottin | 68 | 78 | 73 | 78 |
Zmorka has been waiting for these races all season long as he's in great form heading into this one. His main competetion on paper should come from Durbridge, with the likes of Howson, Kittel and Viennet next in line. Deserving of a mention is also defending champion Fiedler.
Sprinter | FL | RS | SP | AC | Lead out | FL | RS | SP | AC | Ewan | 75 | 71 | 83 | 81 | Major | 74 | 70 | 77 | 78 | Bonifazio | 79 | 75 | 80 | 80 | Sajnok | 72 | 74 | 72 | 71 | Silvestre | 78 | 71 | 80 | 81 | El Sabbahi | 73 | 72 | 73 | 73 | Howard | 76 | 70 | 82 | 79 | Yudha | 67 | 69 | 64 | 69 | Guardini | 72 | 69 | 80 | 82 | Venturini | 75 | 74 | 75 | 77 | Cullaigh | 73 | 70 | 80 | 81 | Hennessy | 69 | 68 | 73 | 73 | Maksimov | 71 | 67 | 80 | 82 | Quispe | 80 | 60 | 66 | 73 | Vesely | 73 | 68 | 81 | 80 | Hodeg | 72 | 74 | 79 | 78 | Zabel | 74 | 70 | 81 | 79 | Willwohl | 73 | 67 | 79 | 78 | Zhao | 74 | 74 | 77 | 81 | Arashiro | 81 | 67 | 70 | 75 | Afewerki | 73 | 70 | 79 | 80 | Hamza | 71 | 70 | 71 | 71 | Boudat | 73 | 74 | 79 | 78 | Habtom | 75 | 75 | 77 | 78 | Guerao | 73 | 63 | 82 | 75 | Kwok | 75 | 71 | 73 | 74 | Abdul Halil | 68 | 66 | 79 | 77 | Ovsyannikov | 72 | 72 | 77 | 76 | Drapac | 70 | 63 | 79 | 77 | Bogdanovics | 73 | 69 | 78 | 77 |
Ewan is the top sprinter on paper, but we could see that blowing up in his face with Major as his lead out. Bonifazio and Silvestre look to be supported far better, while Howard is here without a designated lead out man. Guardini will hope his partnership with Venturini works out. Cullaigh is always dangerous, but we don't know always what to expect from Maksimov. The Vesely-Hodeg combo rarely seems to work.

The Worlds Best Lead-Out is back in action! No real time trial options for T3A here so we're hunting stage results, which has gone so well thus far this season.
Did expect a slightly stronger sprinter field here, so this could be very interesting for who grabs thos stage wins.

Let's see if Balloni can get two good TT results in a row for once ^^
Else, it's all-in for the sprints - although I'm not very optimistic, given Boudat's results so far. Furthermore, we'll likely do a train, so that's likely gonna end up in a trainwreck.

Best case here is a Top 5 for Fiedler and something like a stage win and the points classification for Silvestre. Worst case is like 13th for Fiedler and three times outside of the Top 5 for Silvestre. I'd rather have the former, please
Good luck everyone!

No GC ace and the inconsistent-at-best Vesely-Hodeg combo, not really a race to look forward to...

Cosnefroy and Thomas here so hopefully one of them can get a good result! We did very well in our only other HC race this season but I think it could be tough going this time.
Hopefully late attacks from Cosnefroy if he doesn't do well in the TTs.
Abdul Halil is our lead sprinter here but can't say I'm expecting much from him tbh. Even a Top 10 on one stage would be a success
Thank you for the preview and good luck to all!!

Very decent start that from the lads. Thomas 5th puts himself in a strong position for any sprint bonuses and for the next TT as well so hopefully he can put in another strong performance!
Thanks for the report! Hopefully the team is somewhat involved in the sprinter stages.

That's a good day 1 for us with a solid presence in the top20 + Quaade raising some eyebrows with 4th place. Let's see how it pans out for the rest of the week.
Congrats on another commanding victory, Nemo!

Well that was a surprisingly nice ride from Vanderpool! One of her best ever results in the MG.

Zmorka is playing on easy mode recently Rosskopf in 7th is surprisingly good, Fiedler 13th rather bad, but better to be bad now than in the longer TT ... now it's up to Silvestre to deliver.

Zmorka doing what he has to do, the rest of the team rather disappointing. I hope wearing the yellow jersey doesn't affect him negatively in the longer time trial, as I've seen some strange yellow jersey TT's this season. On the other hand also have seen some very solid yellow jersey TT's, so hoping for one of those Don't expect Maksimov to sprint now, but GC is most important anyway.
Thanks for the congratulations, and thanks for the nice TT report, red!

Brought no support for Howard here, so hopefully he can wheel surf and get himself in a good position. It will be hilarious however if the team tries to make a train with Wibisono and Yudha good luck to all! Thanks for the preview.

Decent stage result but my god have we been handicapped by the PCM gods with Durbo so far down. Its going to be hard to expect both Vivian and Oliveira to keep their positions but both in the top 10 with one in the top 5 will have to do.
Cullaigh needs to impress in the next few stages as well to give us some well needed points in our promotion hunt.

Not great, but definitely not bad, either. A bit unlucky to miss out on 8th with s.t., but Balloni definitely is in a good position for a decent GC now.
Don't quite get how Schmid could lose 30" to Froidevaux, guess there were changing conditions. Or he just prepared tomorrow's breakaway attempt
Congrats to LPH, really unstoppable! Some TTers are really inconsistent this year, but definitely not Zmorka.

9th not a bad result at all from Abdul Halil. Can't expect anything too miraculous from him so we'll take a Top 10! Wouldn't mind a breakaway appearance but probably a little unlikely.
Thanks again for the report!
