I just noticed the release of PCM 21 is right around the corner. Will you buy it?
They have added a TON of new features including improved peloton behaviour!!! [/sarcasm]
I also like this:
An extensive Career mode
In Pro Cycling Manager's Career mode, you can create your own team or manage an existing team and take it to the top.
You are the Sporting Director of this team and are responsible for making the best decisions:
Rider recruitment: build your dream team based on your results
Sponsorship: attract sponsors to increase your budget
Finances : you need to have healthy finances to retain the trust of your sponsors and recruit new riders
Equipment: manage your R&D team to improve your equipment and ensure the best performance
Staff recruitment: you also need to recruit your staff (trainers, scouts to discover new talent, and doctors) to help you manage your team
Training: send out scouts to unearth future cycling stars and manage your development team to potentially include them in the professional team
They wanna make it sound like it's Football Manager for cycling...
On a more serious note, I usually wait until I've seen some positive reactions on the forums here and until a decent db is released or at least in the making.
(Am I going blind or is there no way to add a poll anymore?) |

Simply, no. I've bought 2016, 2017 & 2020 (trusted in Cyanide's fairy tale about 'more agressive and adventurous AI' ) and that's enough. Maybe later, at a discount.

Yeah, it is reasonable. If my friends here tell me PCM 2021 is a good game, I'll buy it.

Let's save the history of PCM together!
Just write me a PM if you have something for old PCM Editions (from 2005 to 2014) - databases, stages, shirts etc. and we'll share it.

Definitely not. I meam they're trying to sell bug fixes as improvements, itsa joke
The manager side of the game is completely shallow

That blurb doesn't actually mention a single new feature, which is the funny part.
Idk. The last one I have is 18 and gameplay wise I think I'm fine sticking to even older versions. But I really miss playing with others online, and you can only do that if you have the newest version of the game really.
I definitely won't preorder or buy at launch, but I'm honestly tempted even if it's not very good.
RIP Exxon Duke, David Veilleux, Double Feature, and Monster Energy

I would stick to one version of PCM as well if I knew it will get a db update every now and then.
Would love to see a db team stick to one particular version that is considered the best and release an update every season and after the biggest races. |

Mostly of the pseudo new features it's just a wall text to impress the people on steam page when decides or not to buy. They just add "AI improvments" because they know that will make sell some units. After their interview with 2 youtubers to know infos about the game, all the questions was made-up and planned by Nacon lmao they couldnt ask about the real problems of the game etc etc. Basically its the same as ever "i wish we could do this but we cant" LOL you have 1 year how the f*** you cant change a game and fix the essential aka gameplay? Without a good base of gameplay, nobody cares about the game.
Since 18, it's just laughable how the game became worse in the departaments that need to be good: gameplay, block system and animations wise.
Not matter what they put on Steam description and news of the game, i don't believe in anything coming from there.
I remember on PCM14, they just stopped trying to fix a essential gameplay bug and said "we cant fix it, only on next game" just shows the respect they have for the people that buy it. And same happened not that much time ago(PCM19).
So yea, i dont care for what they say, i will see by myself when i can test it. Hope they can surprise us but im honestly not confident at all lol |

+1. However, PCM has a number of newcomers every year, so it wouldn't be so easy.
For me there are not any significant improvements from 2006 edition: only some graphical stuff but the most important thing - riders AI - becomes worse and worse. And all that Cyanide had to do - take the old AI engine, slightly improve it and add some new features and graphics: it was so simple.
I really like new graphics & editor (since PCM 2010), three divisions restored (there was in CM4 and then since PCM 2012), detailed simulation in PCM 2010-2012 and auto control since PCM 2014 (that's really useful for those who likes management features: we have Pro Cycling MANAGER not simulator in the name). However, awful AI on cobbles, hills and in breakaways spoiling all in latests PCMs.
Yeah, I forgot about blocks: you have to deliver water for 30-35 km, that's ridiculous.

PCM is my favorite game series too, no doubt about it. I have been buying this game since 2005, and it's a pity that the developers mark time for at least 5 or 6 years already... And I hope PCM 2021 will please us not only with another Cyanide's ads & promises.

I don't think so. I've been playing since PCM 18, and the game has become worse and more unrealistic every year. It's almost as if they not only don't care about improving the game, but are actively trying to sabotaging it. |

From what I can tell from early access videos on YouTube, they've managed to add in proper echelon racing... but didn't bother with coding AI that actually knows how to use them. An easy exploit for those who want to occupy the entire top 8...
Maybe we should stop using the term AI in relation to PCM. After all, the I stands for Intelligence. |

will be another case like PCM14 tour de france stage on pavé, where you could win the GT with 10+min because of it. At least you can win tour/any race with 10+ minutes because the AI and never got fixed. They even got the audacity to tell they cant fix it and only on next game lol
Don't worry @Martijmvvd will be fixed on PCM22.
Btw, they don't even change the menu style for 3 years. Wich was something they always try to change year by year. |

That's true! At least Paradox Development honestly said about (missing) AI in their Stellaris: they won't improve it. So Cyanide too they must stop to fool players.
I know a little bit about programming AI with Python: it's not that complicated, but it takes much time. So Cyanide simply don't want to waste their time on that. And that's so strange because unlike Stellaris, AI is critical in PCM.
P.S. The problem is Cyanide have no competitors in the market so fans will buy the next edition. But I won't, without great recommend

I remembered another issue with pavé - cobbled ITT simulation with 0.0 difference between first and last riders. And crowds on RVV & PR finishes - that's so annoying...
