Wishing everyone a happy new year with the creation of a single thread to serve as a compendium of cycling news throughout the year.
Some new kits revealed today, such as BikeExchange (former Mitchelton) - who, I believe, is a temporary main sponsor for GreenEdge Cycling.

Looks great. Also a very nice cycling sponsor.

I recognize the need for one thread at this point, but I'm definitely sad it's come to this.
Not a big fan of the new GreenEdge jersey. Not that it's poorly designed, just think the color scheme and design are a bit played out in recent years.

We should introduce a category "Cycling kits that look alike". I have the impression that each year there are a few cycling kits that we barely can tell one from another.
This year, Movistar and Eolo-Kometa will look very similar:

First major news of the year, Marc Hirschi is a free agent as of today.

WTF? I thought a rider like Hirschi is best suited in a team like Sunweb/DSM.
I am curious which team/offer is behind this.

I just hope it’s not INEOS. |

First Matthews now Hirschi terminating his contract, I'm kinda thinking it may not be about money.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Would bet on INEOS tbh.
A positive is also a possibility, but I'm suspecting more than someone like INEOS paid out the contract.
OK: Nevermind, the communication by the team says that a fee was agreed. So it's a buy-out. So yeah, INEOS. |

Never discount someone like Bahrain or UAE in a case like this. Ineos is not the only team with deep pockets in the WT. Even Trek has a lot of potential to spend, and for a rider like Hirschi i can see other teams finding extra ways to get cash together to a buy-out.
And that's assuming Hirschi didn't force things himself and refuse to ride for DSM, allowing a cut-price deal to happen.

I'll find it very difficult to support him if it's any of those three, so I hope it's something left-field where he actually fits in.
AG2R, EF, Trek, any team that manages to finance itself without exploiting humans or the earth please.

I think it’s either INEOS (unfortunately) or the Middle East teams, but that will depend on the maximum number of riders allowed (wasn’t it 30?). If not UAE and Bahrain seem to fit the criteria. |

Kittel, Dumoulin, Matthews, Hirschi... The amount of buy outs in that team... |

If I have to be honest Hirschi is knowing his price and wants to be the focal point of where he'll ride, so whichever team gets him needs to open its chequebook and has the ability to offer him what he wants. I have narrowed the list of potential teams that can meet his demands to these: Ineos, Israel, Bahrain, UAE and Jumbo-Visma.

I would not be surprised to see AG2R-Citroen in the mix.

What about Movistar? They never replaced Quintana or Landa, so unless they had massive budget cuts they should have room for a second superstar?
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.
