Philadelphia International Championship Preview
The Philadelphia International Championship continues for its tenth consecutive edition in the MG. There is a change however, with the race now run as a C2HC category race, as opposed to its previous status as a HC race. This means that the best of the best of the Continental division will be out in force to try to etch one of their names on the trophy.
| FLA | HIL | RES | SPR | ACC | Mohs | 74 | 64 | 62 | 82 | 80 | Guillen | 67 | 61 | 62 | 81 | 82 | Thorsen | 60 | 53 | 54 | 81 | 83 | Holloway | 78 | 69 | 77 | 80 | 82 | Granjel Cabrera | 75 | 69 | 71 | 80 | 77 | Moser | 72 | 67 | 69 | 80 | 79 | Carsi | 70 | 55 | 69 | 80 | 82 | Boivin | 74 | 70 | 70 | 79 | 80 | Von Hoff | 71 | 66 | 74 | 79 | 77 | Keough | 73 | 62 | 73 | 79 | 79 | Manarelli | 72 | 59 | 65 | 79 | 79 | Awang | 64 | 52 | 62 | 79 | 83 |
Mohs is the fastest man in the field but his low hill climbing and lower resistance might prove costly in the attempt to win this race.
Guillen and Thorsen are similar, but have even weaker flat stats, which would be a further hindrance to their attempt at winning this race.
The real favourite for this race should be Holloway (who else?). Combining a fast finish, with a high acceleration, great flat skills and decent hill tackling abilities, he has a great set of skills to overcome this profile.
Probably the closes contender to the McCormick rider is Granjel Cabrera, who has a knack of pulling out big results in races such as these. He is slightly weaker rider than Holloway, all things considered, but is a match on top speed, if it comes down to a head-to-head at the finish.
Along with Mohs, Moser and Carsi to be the best candidates for the final podium spot. Both are fast, and both are quite good on the flats. Carsi's puncher abilities leave something to be desired though.
Another interesting candidate is Boivin, who will be hoping for a hard race, to make use of his better puncher and rouleur skills as opposed to the above duo.
Keough is always a threat in any race, and with the season Azteca are having, you can never rule them out on any kind of profile.
Von Hoff and Manarelli will be hoping to challenge for the top 5, but a top 10 looks more likely.
Awang's combination of low flat and puncher skills, probably puts him at a big disadvantage to the others mentioned previously.
| FLA | HIL | RES | Manamalage | 81 | 59 | 64 | Ratto | 79 | 60 | 66 | Veyhe | 78 | 67 | 69 | Kluge | 77 | 67 | 73 | Cherkasov | 77 | 69 | 72 | Canelon | 77 | 57 | 69 | Kangangi | 76 | 73 | 73 | Navardauskas | 75 | 75 | 74 | Stocker | 75 | 65 | 73 |
The Rouleurs will be hoping to make it a hard race on the flats, in order to tire out the sprinters. There are a couple of decent sprinters in this list as well in the form of Canelon, Kluge and Stocker. Last year's runner-up Navardauskas is back to try to go one better, albeit with a different team. Although Manamalage is on top of this list, his other abilities don't have much to write home about in a race like this.

Based on the way Keough has been riding this season, I completely agree he can't be counted out. We even have that odd race where both sprinters (Vaquera) are here, so we should have chances even if the weird stuff does happen.
Won't be expecting too much out of this race, but won't be surprised to get plenty either.

Well, pretty much everywhere I send Guillén, there's this Holloway in his way...
Don't really know what to expect, either, as Guillén has got pretty much all results from 2nd to anonymous in these one-day races. A win's still missing, but it's hard to see him getting around some other competitors. We'll see...

Another goal race (although not a win goal) for us, a quick 2 hours up the road from World HQ.
Holloway yet to win in a one day race this season but he has only been in one so guess that doesn't mean much.
First team here to support him. So think Top 5 is a very reasonable expectation, although late attacks are a danger in one-day races where the non-sprint teams have nothing to lose.

Really stupid racing for once. Working hard all day long and then failing to control late attacks is a real bummer here. 4th from the bunch sprint is totally OK for Guillén, but the rest of the team (and, to be fair, the other sprinter teams as well) just failed.
Congrats to the attackers, and thanks for the report.

Sprint classics are very hard to control. In my ideal world we would have had a rouleur to attack in these races.
Congrats to Kluge and thanks for the report.
