Hello. My first post here. I trust that gameplayer enthusiasts still come by this corner of the Forum to view. I am sorry if I am asking here something too basic, but several hours of looking thru your forums (and reading lots of different topics), I did not see this exact question & issue.
Simple problem: I wish to add three cycling race teams to the standard database. I have already successfully added the simple data of team names, country of origin, team's focus (worldwide, Italia-Swiss or France, etc.), bike frame, wheelsets, and helmet. The problem is the kit/jersey. Though I found the exact (former Mapei team!) jersey as 0201_minimaillot.dds in the expansive list of about what seems like 250 possible jerseys, the Mapei jersey 0201 does not actually show up as the team's kit in the game.
Instead, after gamestart, one has the drab gray, generic shirt with some red and black stripes, the black helmet and it looks completely dull, uninspiring. In some ways I could live with this, however, not with all three of my newly created teams wearing this. I just did a race where all three different teams entered this same race. It was very confusing to have 24 total riders in the peleton all looking alike. Additionally, the game developers have to know that this drab gray coloured "default" jersey/kit for a new team looks about the same as about 4 or 5 of the other teams in the original list of 60 teams.
Please help if you can with what I am obviously overlooking to do in the game's Editor. Everything else in the database editor has been very easy to do. Though, no, I have not tried creating a new race event on the calendar.
What am I failing to understand to do? Surely the game designers place those several hundred possible jerseys there for our use. How do I actually integrate my chosen jersey into the game at gamestart?
Additionally - Why does one get that hideous big pink rectangle as one's team logo? That pink is just ugly to have to observe in the game. There seems to be no way in the Editor to add, modify, etc. a newly created team's logo. Or? Clicking that box there does nothing.
Sorry for this long post. But I am truly perplexed. What do I not see as the necessary tool in the game's Editor to properly get the desired team jersey and a logo (anything other than that putrid pink big rectangle) to actually be the one that the team uses?
Thank you in advance to all. If someone can help, I would be very grateful. I mean it. Cheers.
Tip: The former grand team of all Italia is Saeco. Roughly 20 years ago they were the hottest team on the planet. Their jersey is 0212_minimaillot.dds. Now that's flashy, cool kit. Too bad it is too quirky to try to figure out how to make use of it?

Hi! You have to create a new logo (128x64 pixels) & minilogo (32x16) for newly added teams and then put them in Gui\Team\logo&minilogo folders with correct names of course.
P.S. About shirts: there's the jersey_sz_abbreviation column in Teams table in DB. Check the names of you teams abbreviations in those folders:
1) 3D / Cyclists / Cloths / Team
2) Gui / Team_shirt

Thank you for the reply, tomcat. I don't mind creating a new logo and minilogo. How do I do it? Or can I simply "borrow" one that already exists? I'm not choosy about the logo. As long as it would look like something halfway presentable and seem plausible for a pro team to have, I'll take it. It can be "Franco's Furniture Warehouse." Or "Luigi's Used Cars." Too bad they simply don't integrate things like MAXXIS, Selle Italia, Skoda, Kenda, Mavic, Powerade, Michelin, Pirelli, Pinarello, Cervelo, Bianchi, Bontrager, etc. logos already. Surely these game developers know we'd use them - just to be able to start gameplaying and not waste so much time simply trying to prep the game. AND - they would benefit. Those companies would give them money to get the in-game advertising.

I hope that a simple team add is easier to do in future versions of PCM. Yes, this is 2011's PCM version that I reference here for my questions. Surely the Cyanide game developers made "adding a new team" into the database much easier in more recent years' game editions. After all, this is a hobby game that depicts professional men's cycling. The only thing constant in the world of international UCI pro cycling circuit is that teams' names/sponsors, logos, kit, etc. change faster than the next really big positive doping test result. Thus it ought to be very easy & VERY quick to adust team name, a logo and the team's use of colours. Just look at the names of the 22 teams set to show up in Nice, France for the Tour de France 2020 edition in August. Who recognizes those names? How many are the same names/sponsors & colours as even 20 months ago?

Yes, you can use existing logos if they suit you, but if you wish I could create some logos for you.
Yes, this is 2011's PCM version that I reference here for my questions.
2011 is one of the best PCM editions with pretty clever AI (but worse than in PCM 2006-2007 I guess), so I like it too.
Thus it ought to be very easy & VERY quick to adust team name, a logo and the team's use of colours.
I think that it is not a priority for developers, but they are improving instruments for creators little by little. For example the Database Editor is now very friendly and lets us easily create new stages, and in PCM2005-2007 Stage Editor I'm just confusing.

Surely there are a few tutorials on the site which will help you, they don't need to be for PCM11 specifically, most things are the same for every version of the game. I dare say that just changing a team name and sponsor is pretty easy with an editor, basically just go to DYN_team, select a new sponsor from the drop-down menu, change the rest to match. DYN_sponsor should be adjusted automatically, you'd just add contract length and budget (numbers will still be with the old sponsor). That should be all you have to do, though you can do more. For example, read this:
You're a good man, Tomcat, molte grazie for the replies. And, I mean it, I looked at those two new jerseys/kit you shared yesterday, and they are really good. Maybe Cyanide ought to be making you an offer?
Tell you what, you choose. Take any three out of that list and give it a go, if you like. HOWEVER, please don't if you're busy in life. Most of us are. I surely do not wish to impose.
I guess maybe I'm more trying to make the point that the game already has "advertising" all over it. Eurosport, for example, features so prominently as do the two major French broadcast companies. Skoda is present, Mavic, I think. Porsche shows up in a faint way in the Drapac (Australia) team kit. Festina. Cofidis and FDJ ARE ADVERTS.... I am pretty sure I've seen Specialized. I'm just wondering why the game developers wouldn't make these as available logos -- just as they have made those approx. 250 extra jerseys for gameplayers to perhaps integrate. Say about 25 logos -- where they would benefit by being able to tell those companies, "See! Look here, we're promoting your brand in our Cyanide game that thousands play week to week all over the world."

Thanks for just noticing my humble grousing here on this site, Tomcat. Please don't inconvenience yourself. I mention things like Bianchi, T-Mobile Telekom, Pinarello, Selle Italia, and Continental above because, just like the jerseys you have created and made available to others, perhaps there would be others here as well who might wish to use those five prominent logos. Muchas gracias. I hope it's a great weekend in your corner of the UCI cycling world.

Going back to the first reply to me on 5 June - the first reply in this thread underneath my start entry:
It was stated that one HAS to (meaning - must) create a new logo. No, that's, I do believe, false. If one uses the approx. 218 (yes, I've counted) existing possible jersey/kits that are in the game ALREADY, the game creators did not only provide these additional jerseys but also accompanying logos for all 218.
Example:0457_minimaillot.dds This very bright red, with some gold, white and black is a VERY RECOGNIZABLE international brand: Stella Artois. If one chooses that for one's newly created team in the game's own database, then a small Stella Artois logo/advert pops up in the box where the logos go. (I think that maybe they purposely mispell it to be "Stelle Artois" or something similar, but, hey, that's pretty irrelevant. Most gameplayers don't need that kind of precision.)
It is the VERY SAME for most of the 0200_minimaillot.dds thru to 4000_minimaillot.dds jersey/kit possibilities. So, no, there seems to be no reason to need to create a new logo -- if one can live with whatever tiny advert names the game creators employed as small adverts/markings on these additional 218 jerseys/kit.
AND that is precisely what I have been after. I am not trying to find/recreate, for example, the perfect legacy Motorola Racing Team kit from year 1994. I am perfectly happy to find and use kit/logos already installed in the game -- obviously put there - thankfully - by the game creators. I have learned: If one looks, one can find a suitable kit to use.

So - back to my original question (and - really my only question): The game does not integrate the jersey or little logo - if one selects jersey/kit like 0457 - (Stella Artois) - that one has selected using the IN-Game Editor. To me, that is an error that the game creators could easily fix. HOWEVER: The newly created/added team's name (Team Stella Artois), the regional race focus: Benelux, France; the equipment: STRIKE wheelset, TEAM bikeframes, and LEXMAR helmets; the short UCI abbreviation that one types in: TSA -- All of that is flawlessly integrated into the game - no problems.
Where does the gameplayer thus fix this himself by "insterting" the new team's jersey 0457 and the associated logo and minilogo? (The files already exist - they are right there; they simply have to be placed....)
I'm pretty sure the path in a Windows OS is: User Name/Documents/PCM specific game that one is using/GameProfile name (that one has given oneself)/Solo.
Correct? [Someone please be more specific. Thank you.]
Where "Solo" is short for the "Single Player" gameplay option in the game's main menu.

For most of us there is no need to use software of any kind outside of the game itself. So though it is very interesting that bigtime enthusiasts here create their own editors, they are not necessary. Compliments to them for their great enthusiasm & initiatives. But - I think most gameplayers simply want to insert a team or two since the minnows in the game like An Post - Sean Kelly Team* from Ireland (not Belgium - though, yes they have a training facility in Belgium - but the team is registered in Ireland) are never going to challenge the bigboys like Omega-Lotto, Moviestar, Rabbobank, BMC, Quickstep or Garmin Slipstream. Gameplayers want to adjust the name-licensing issues (like correctly naming it Team Katuscha and not: Team Catyousha with the abbreviation of CAT in the game when it should be KAT as the UCI classifies them) and perhaps create a team that will in a season or two or three dethrone the elite teams like Colombia Highroad HTC. The good news: All of this is simply done in the PCM Game's very own In-Game Editor. And it is beyond easy to do.
With one great exception/ my one question: Where does one successfully integrate the already exisiting 0457 files information (all is already created - one need create nothing) to actually see it in use in the game? (Instead of the default drab gray kit/black helmet with associated ugly big pink rectangle as logo)
Thank you for those who would take a moment to identify the correct location to place the files. Molte grazie. _____________
*Ana Pest - Jeans Kelly. That's the team name in the original Out-Of-The-Box PCM game. That's simply cringeworthy. It begs to be correctly edited. In truth: That's a slap in the face to one of the sports greatest athletes - ever.
