Corsica International Preview
The Corsica International heads into its 9th consecutive year on the MG calendar. The course remains the same as last season, starting with a short undulating sprint stage followed by a short time-trial and ending with the mountain stage culminating at the peak of Col Ospedale.
Last year's winner Novak is not here, with his team having promoted to the PT. 2016 winner Uran and 2017 winner Duarte are here however, and will be hoping to join Jose Alarcon as the only two winners of this race. Last year's runner-up Shikai is also on the startlist again.
| MON | STA | RES | REC | PRL | Tenorio | 84 | 78 | 76 | 79 | 79 | Uran | 82 | 75 | 81 | 77 | 78 | Reis | 81 | 78 | 76 | 78 | 76 | Intxausti | 81 | 77 | 77 | 75 | 76 | Shikai | 81 | 74 | 76 | 78 | 76 | Eastman | 81 | 76 | 75 | 76 | 73 | Abal | 80 | 73 | 76 | 74 | 76 | Faglum Karlsson | 78 | 78 | 75 | 76 | 79 | Machado | 81 | 72 | 69 | 69 | 71 |
The best climber in the field is also the tied best prologue rider among the favourites, making Tenorio the overwhelming favourite to win this race.
Uran is expected to be the closest competitor to the Desigual leader, and boasts an impressive record in this race, with a win, a 3rd and a 4th place to his name.
The battle for the podium is expected to be a close run affair with five riders likely to mount a challenge for the same:
Intxausti is another rider with a good record in this race, with a previous 2nd place finish and a couple of top 10 results. His decline will impact his ability to repeat his past results, but he's still a contender here. He's one of the two riders representing the CT among the favourites.
Reis is slightly better than Intxausti in support stats, while matching him in climbing and prologue capabilities.
Shikai is also very similar to the previous duo, with just his stamina a little weaker, which might not be too harmful in this race.
Eastman also flies the flag for the Continental division, boasting impressive climbing and energy stats, but is just a little weaker against the clock.
Abal is on the decline, but still has enough climbing prowess and is still good against
the clock to be considered a podium challenger in this race.
Two wildcard riders among the contenders here are Faglum Karlsson, who isn't the best climber but is among the best prologue rider in the race, and Machado, who is quite the opposite, being quite a bit weaker against the clock than the other top favourites.
| MON | STA | RES | REC | PRL | Schelling | 80 | 75 | 76 | 73 | 71 | Ratiy | 80 | 70 | 73 | 76 | 74 | Roglic | 80 | 75 | 76 | 75 | 70 | Carapaz | 80 | 71 | 76 | 77 | 72 | Valls | 79 | 78 | 77 | 78 | 72 | Penasa | 80 | 75 | 72 | 77 | 70 | Duarte | 79 | 73 | 75 | 76 | 74 | Oomen | 78 | 76 | 75 | 76 | 75 | Berhane | 81 | 77 | 74 | 73 | 65 | Chiarello | 79 | 73 | 74 | 77 | 71 | Ji | 80 | 73 | 69 | 73 | 69 |
A number of illustrious names in the outsiders list, with former winner Duarte also making an appearance here. Oomen is coming in off the back of an excellent Giro for his wildcard team and will hope to continue more of the same here. Schelling, Ratiy, Roglic, Carapaz, Valls and Berhane are all expected to be the leaders of their respective teams and will hope to over-perform their outsider billing.
| PRL | Keough | 80 | Tenorio | 79 | Faglum Karlsson | 79 | Fraile | 79 | Cornu | 79 | Jiang | 79 | Mottin | 79 | Haugard | 79 | Robert | 79 | Uran | 78 | Janse van Rensburg | 78 | Mullen | 78 | Balloni | 78 | Hofer | 78 | Campenaerts | 78 | Li | 78 |
Keough is the best against the clock among the starters, which makes it highly probable that he picks up the leader's jersey after Stage 2, provided he does not do too badly in the opening stage. Tenorio and Faglum Karlsson are the best Prologue riders among the race favourites. The fight for the stage win on the second stage should be a good one, with Cornu, Jiang, Mottin, Haugard and Robert, all on the same level against the clock. Uran is the only other GC wh can challenge for a good placing on the second stage.
| FLA | HIL | SPR | ACC | Drapac | 71 | 53 | 80 | 79 | Keough | 73 | 62 | 79 | 79 | Hayakawa | 73 | 65 | 79 | 79 | Coutinho | 72 | 65 | 79 | 80 | Peeters | 72 | 62 | 79 | 77 | Reinhardt | 71 | 67 | 79 | 84 | Awang | 64 | 52 | 79 | 83 | Santos | 76 | 64 | 78 | 78 | Cisse | 74 | 63 | 78 | 77 | Nepomnyachsniy | 74 | 64 | 78 | 76 | Bogdanovics | 73 | 62 | 78 | 77 | Keough | 72 | 64 | 78 | 75 |
Drapac starts as favourite for the opening stage, with Keough not far behind. The latter will be dreaming of the possibility of keeping the jersey after each of the first to stages. A competitive sprinter field has turned up here, with Coutinho and Reinhardt probably the best bets to oust the leading duo on Stage 1.

Oi, Eastman isnt the only CT guy here.
Hopefully this will turn out better than Catalunya did, and main goal here is to beat that filthy Azteca man

Hoping for a good turn from Eastman in the TT/PRL and then good enough legs on the climb to hold on for a win. Obviously Keough is a big hope here as well, with a good sprint followed by a prologue he should like and chances to hold the leaders jersey with some stage wins.

Uran has always been close in our jersey, but the victory still eludes us. Drapac will probably finish tenth given he is somehow favorite for the sprint stage.

For stage 1 it's Peeters' last chance to ever win a stage for us, but he'll probably just disappoint me again. Other than that, some minor GC points and the White would be nice.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Come on Machado deliver another Top10! Also excited to see Jiang/Mottin in the prologue, a great combo and netting the stage would be perfect.

This should provide a good opportunity for Reis to fight for a podium place. It's very tight though after Uran and Tenorio, which should make things interesting.
Thanks for the preview Abhishkek!

Lets go Shikai! Hoping for a similar result to last season. Will be a tough ask though.

So that’s it for Peeters, 5 years for us as a 79 sprinter and not a single win.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Reinhardt! He does not win very often, so this is a treat. Great race Abhi, very much looking forward to the rest.

Congrats on the victory Bushwackers.
That gap was unnecessary in this flat stage, but hopefully Reis was well positioned to avoid it. Moving on to the TT.

Is there an opportunity to withdraw the team from the race?
