Neither is Buchmann a surprise as he was having a clear 3-4 year progression always 4-5-6 spots better year for year.

I didn't know whom to nominate, so many riders came to mind. And it's still a tough call, I'll give Carapaz my vote, the first Ecuadorian to win... well, just about anything. Smile

Biggest surprise for me was Fuglsang. At the age he's at, I wasn't expecting him to become Alaphilippe level on the hills after being known more as a stage racer for most of his career, and also having the best year of his career now.

Carapaz was a surprise for me last year, not so much this year, even though this is the year he got a GT.
