Geraardsbergen-Bosberg Preview
Geraardsbergen-Bosberg heads into it's 5th season, with the race having crowned four different winners so far. Three of those four are back to become the first double winner, while 2016 winner De Haes did not find a team in this transfer period. The profile remains the same, ten and a half circuits of a route consisting of two hills and three cobbled sections. It is always a challenging course and only the second edition of this race did not have a solo winner. Will it be an attacker taking the win this time too, or will the pack keep things calm till the end and try their luck in a reduced bunch finish? We'll find that out soon enough.
| HIL | STA | RES | COB | SPR | ACC | Kasperkiewicz | 73 | 73 | 75 | 79 | 59 | 66 | Van Keirsbulck | 71 | 75 | 73 | 78 | 70 | 68 | Maes | 66 | 78 | 73 | 78 | 61 | 66 | Taubel | 65 | 69 | 73 | 78 | 61 | 64 | Richardson | 67 | 68 | 68 | 78 | 60 | 61 | Kluge | 67 | 75 | 73 | 76 | 76 | 73 | Orue | 64 | 77 | 70 | 78 | 53 | 58 | Archimandritis | 73 | 72 | 73 | 73 | 63 | 68 | Young | 69 | 74 | 70 | 75 | 78 | 77 | Lagab | 70 | 70 | 65 | 75 | 71 | 72 | Jacobs | 63 | 75 | 70 | 77 | 64 | 62 | Kumara | 67 | 74 | 70 | 75 | 71 | 67 |
New kid on the block, Kasperkiewicz starts this race as the top favourite. He has done quite well with the spotlight now on him, having raised his cobbles game in the off-season. He'll be looking to continue his form from Viano do Castelo, where he finished 2nd.
Finishing first in that same race, ahead of the youngster, was the experienced hand of Guillaume van Keirsbulck, who is next in line to be the favourite to win this race. The Belgian has all the necessary tools to do well on this profile, and having already won here in 2017, will be hoping to recapture the magic that got him the said result.
The fight for the podium, and indeed the Top 5 should be a close run affair. Two declining stars in Maes and Kluge, and two younger challengers in Richardson and Taubel, look the likeliest to fight it out for the lower podium spots and the rest of the Top 5. Among them, Kluge, who is the defending champion, is the most well rounded rider, which could suit a profile like this more. Richardson on the other hand, is a pure cobbled focus rider, with decent puncher skills, and not one who relies too much on his backups. Maes is similar to Richardson but has significantly better energy stats. Taubel's poor stamina could prove to be his undoing.
Orue will be looking to put the bad luck of the latter part of De Panne behind and put in another ride like the one he pulled out on the first stage of that race. Together with Richardson, they form a strong 1-2 punch for Azteca, who are generally not known for their cobbled prowess.
Eric Young is the rider who'll most be wishing for the race to conclude in a reduced bunch sprint, as he is the best sprinter by afar among the favourites. Archimandritis is more of a well rounded rider, and so is Lagab. These riders are the ones who're likely to be fighting for the lower Top 10 places.
Also looking to get into the Top 10 is the likes of Jacobs and Kumara, with the latter fresh of a U25 victory in De Panne.
| HIL | STA | RES | COB | SPR | ACC | Ngandamba | 69 | 73 | 70 | 74 | 70 | 71 | Nepomnyachsniy | 64 | 74 | 66 | 76 | 78 | 76 | Langeveld | 70 | 75 | 67 | 74 | 61 | 70 | Minoungou | 65 | 73 | 70 | 75 | 69 | 68 | Corwin | 66 | 66 | 64 | 77 | 55 | 56 | Abraha | 64 | 70 | 71 | 75 | 74 | 72 | Coronel | 68 | 71 | 70 | 73 | 69 | 70 | Palyi | 71 | 72 | 73 | 71 | 72 | 74 | Kolev | 62 | 71 | 70 | 75 | 61 | 67 | Batmunkh | 65 | 72 | 72 | 73 | 74 | 74 | Ruiz | 60 | 76 | 72 | 75 | 58 | 58 | Van Wyk | 63 | 72 | 69 | 74 | 69 | 68 | Malecki | 67 | 68 | 72 | 71 | 70 | 70 |
Both GCN and Netia have good support to their leaders, as can be seen from the outsiders table. Nepomnyachsniy is another rider who'll want the race to go the distance in terms of a reduced bunch sprint finish. Langeveld, another former winner, is on his last hurrah, and a race like this is the perfect opportunity for a throwback performance.

We are only here because we have to be. A very weak team so the best we can hope for is to maybe get into a breakaway and try our luck there. Not expecting anything from this race.

Quite an open race really with Van Keirsbulck being my favourite. That said, Kasperkiewicz being the best on paper.
Seeing how close the startlist is and how difficult the profile, I guess, we might see a small surprise outsider win. |

We have a couple of guys who can be hopeful of a top 10 finish. Young needs to find his form, and this race could be for him.

Just hoping Batman scores a couple points here or at least shows his face. The cobbles are the one terrain where we've accepted that we won't compete so anything is better than 0.

GVK already already showed once this year that he can beat the field. This race is massively important to us and we come here with good memories and a with a win goal! Thanks for the preview, can't wait for the report!

Unlikely to get a good result here, but I am hoping for a couple points at least

Kasperkiewicz should bring this one home, he is stronger on many levels and flat as suggested in preview should not matter much here, and even there he is fine.
Surpriced but not unreal if Van Keirsbulck or Maes having a great day could take it all
Also Richardson, Orue and Corwin a frightning trio, but sadly not often we see good use of strong numbers, so I will cheer for them to prove me wrong an take at least a podium.

Maes hasn't done all that well on the more undulating terrains this season, even as he has continued to act like a favourite, overdoing himself on multiple occasions. Hopefully this time he keeps his cool and just rides it out to the top 5 demanded by our sponsors. |

Win goal achieved and then some! GVK showing up massively again this season! Unfortunate for Kaspa to get caught behind the initial break up in the pack but GVK just proving that once he gets in the lead there are very few riders in the division this year able to challenge him! Also massive 3rd for Kumara! Thanks for the report!

Solid resultat with top 1-2 going 2-1
Sadly my Azteca trio did not deliver, but I expected that strong numbers often disappoint.
Kumara wow a surprise indeed, making this more that a perfect race for NENT

Yea, the cobbles don't really seem to care for depth. None of them are that strong to begin with, just a good cobbles stat. Maybe on a flat cobbles route they would be good, but anything with hills gets bad quickly.
Thanks for the report!

As I expected, not great, but points nonetheless. Teams who I don't really have a chance to overtake in the standings scoring the vast majority of points available so this was alright

Three guys in the top 15 is good. Disappointed that we couldn't be there when it really counted though.

I find this quite interesting considering that I have had decent scoring all year from both GVK and Kumara placing well as well as points coming in from Coronel. Just having good points in cobbles ain't gonna help you when your riders have shit support stats, lex Bakari, and that's regardless of PCM edition.

With 2 in the Top 5, I'm very happy with that result. Ngandamda continues to shine and Jacobs looking to close out what might be his final season with us with some good cobbles form
Well done NENT on the win!
