The last race of the CT season! The last chance for teams fighting for promotion to make the final push! The last chance for teams looking to end on a high! As has become customary, the MG carnival signs-off from yet another exciting season of Continental Tour racing in the Switzerland. The best of the best punchers have arrived and we should be in store for an exciting battle to crown the winner. At 233 kilometers, stamina and tiredness could very well play an important role in the climax of this race. Defending champion Vichot is back to defend his crown, albeit in different colours.
While Delvaux, Valio and Compal have secured poromotion, it's anybody's game for the last two direct promotion spots. Swisslion and Andorra currently hold those spots, but less than 150 points separate the former and Sauber in 8th place. ENI-MOL and Banco de Bogota are the other teams still in promotion contention. Campari will need an absolute miracle to overturn their current deficit.
| HIL | STA | SPR | ACC | Di Maggio | 82 | 73 | 65 | 75 | Gautier | 80 | 76 | 68 | 77 | Ben Nasser | 79 | 76 | 70 | 77 | Meyer | 79 | 74 | 72 | 77 | Zaini | 80 | 74 | 65 | 70 | Siskevicius | 78 | 73 | 71 | 75 | Kadri | 76 | 77 | 74 | 78 | Vichot | 76 | 77 | 66 | 80 | Teuns | 78 | 73 | 66 | 72 | Weiss | 76 | 75 | 73 | 74 | Hoelgaard | 77 | 72 | 68 | 74 | Pibernik | 76 | 76 | 68 | 74 | Teklit | 77 | 75 | 64 | 70 | Haas | 76 | 76 | 68 | 73 | Serry | 78 | 71 | 62 | 69 | Lopez | 76 | 73 | 65 | 74 | Hategeka | 77 | 74 | 62 | 66 | Othman | 76 | 73 | 54 | 76 | Kebede | 76 | 73 | 60 | 72 | Mendes | 77 | 71 | 67 | 64 | Ziesler | 76 | 74 | 69 | 65 | Hugentobler | 76 | 70 | 56 | 76 | Seibeb | 76 | 70 | 61 | 73 | Skjerping | 77 | 71 | 58 | 65 | Wahyudi | 76 | 67 | 58 | 67 |
Defending champion Vichot and teammate Kadri, in Delvaux colours, find themselves just outside the Top 5 contenders for this race. What stands to favour them is the length of this course, as well as the fact that they can use their fast acceleration, if it comes down to a sprint. Kadri's better sprinting ability probably gives him an edge over his teammate in the afore-mentioned scenario.
Gautier leads Valio's challenge in the season-ender, with them already assured of going up, but still looking to end the season on a high.
Promotion chasing Campari (unlikely), ENI-MOL and Compal all have podium contenders for this race, which should make it a very interesting sub-plot in the race. Di Maggio is top favourite and would be looking to confirm promotion for his team. A great combination of stats for Ben Nasser and Zaini, make them one of the five riders who look to be favourites for the win.
Four the five top favourites have already been mentioned. The fifth, and one of the big reasons for Eddie Stobart's resurgence this season, is Meyer. He's looked good throughout the season on the hills and will hope to round out the season on a high for his team.
Siskevicius is the best of the rest and will be hoping to finish his team's otherwise poor season on a high. Cerverica come into this race with two Top 10 contenders in Teuns and Hoelgaard, both of whom, on a good day, could make a challenge to enter the Top 5. Weiss, Pibernik, Teklit, Haas and Lopez are the other team leaders who'll be targeting a Top 10 finish at the least.

The profile looks like it could suit Pibernik. Anyhows, I hope we score enough to maintain a place in the top 5

Hope we can finish the season on a high The length and finish should suit both Kadri and Vichot well, so I'm hoping we can achieve at least a top 5 here.

I just want to point out this race is in Zurich, Switzerland, not the Czech Republic.
We have never previously gone well in our home race, but hopefully we can at least do something respectable in front of the home crowd.

I am hoping for a miracle, promotion is still provisional but it is on the very limit of being taken away from us.

I'm not sure why I didn't send Edmondson here but I'm hoping Haas can grab us a last top 10. Should be a very interesting race!

We got a top 15 so I can be happy with that, we already knew going into the race that promotion was next to impossible as we don't have an elite level rider on the hills which is what we would have needed to claw back the gap, maybe that's something to think about for next season as I'd like to have a good run in our home race at least once in our career. I've not checked but if memory serves me correctly that was our best result here in the teams history.

Huge effort. Not quite as big a reward. IRL I would love how Gautier rides. MG wise hi could use his energy smarter than all these long-range attacks all the time.

All 3 of Kadri, Favilli and Vichot ending inside the top 7 is a great way to end the season. The race played out they way we wanted, with everything coming together on the flat. Kadri perhaps slightly too passive from 3-1 km left, giving Ben Nasser the needed advantage, but very happy nonetheless of course
Thanks for the report Abhi!
