First stage of this TT oriented stage race. It’s a 17-km individual timetrial between Sint Willebrord and Rucphen, which will see the first gaps in GC. The big favourites for the win today are Marlen Zmorka and Luke Durbridge, but there are several riders that surely will have something to say in the outcome of the stage

Other riders like Van Zandbeek (+41), Zoidl (+48), Van Niekerk (+46), Vandewalle (+23), Sterbini (+25) and Wurtz (+27) did good times but as expected, not even close to Schadlich

Oba (+20), Porte (+26) and Politt (+34) would all do interesting things, but it would be pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_red.png Cameron Meyer the first rider to get really close to Schadlich’s time, as the Aussie was just 2 seconds slower than the Kraftwerk rider in the finish

The wind is clearly helping those riders that are starting now, with a heavy tail-wind in the late part of the TT, so that means that pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_yor.png Viennet sets the fastest time “easily” after being quite far in the intermediate point, by 7 seconds over Schadlich

Also Rolland (+28) and Rosas (+33) make good use of this help

Massive effort from pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_npn.png Sergent, as the Kiwi rider not only sets the fastest time so far, but he’s also improving Viennet’s time by over 20 seconds!!!

Mottin (+37), Ovechkin (+55) and Olman (+1’02) were other timetrialists starting in this zone

Tennant (+44), Laizer (+46), Martin (+47), Doull (+58), Craddock (+59), Per (+1’03), Hamza (+1’11) would be the only decent times in the next minutes, until pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_gnr.png Kung appeared and set the third best time, though it’s 28 seconds slower than Sergent’s

The wind has almost disappeared, and this is hurting the chances of those riders that start right now, as it was key in the late part of the stage for riders like Sergent or Viennet earlier.

So pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_yor.png Stannard despite being almost doing the same time as Sergent after 9 kms, he’s 19 seconds slower at the finish, with the 2nd best time so far.

Hansen (+40) and Navardauskas (+41) would join the provisional Top10 with their performances

Kinda ironic that the last rider of most teams is not a timetrialist at all, so pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_red.png Zmorka is the next timetrialist up the road.

And the Ukranian champion does the fastest time by only 5 seconds, just as the wind came back to same intensity as when Sergent was on the road!

Viviani (+41) and Reus (+45) don’t make the best use of the wind force now

And his time is 28 seconds worse than Zmorka, which is only enough for a 9th place today!
