The most important stage of this race. A 60 km TT that will decide the overall winner of this race, barring any disaster in tomorrow’s “flat” stage. The current race leader is Stoltz, but he’s only a great rider for short TTs, so he doesn’t have a chance to retain his lead. The main favourites for the win are Jacob Fiedler and Taylor Phinney. Both were affected by the wind in the prologue, and lost some seconds to riders as Malori and Paillot because of that, but we can count on them to destroy the oposition today
Brazilian champion Nascimento is the first good TTer to start his race. He’s obviously setting the fastest time so far, 1’24’16
But it doesn’t last long, as Archbold beats him by 32 seconds
Andersen fall short of beating the best time by only 19 seconds
New best time for Thomas Faiers! He’s beating Archbold by only 2 seconds
Dal Col goes fastest by 11 seconds over Faiers!
Danacik takes the second place, 2 seconds behind Dal Col, despite having led all the intermediate check points
Fifth best time for Campenaerts, with a time 20 seconds worse than Dal Col’s
Third time for Howson, just 6 seconds worse than the best time
Sütterlin does the best time so far, improving Dal Col’s time by 5 seconds
Rosskopf is 20 seconds slower than Sutterlin, so he’s 7th so far. A good base time for Phinney, of who we got news that he’s absolutely flying around this course
Dennis can only be eighth so far, 28 seconds slower than Sutterlin
Is Bennelong now regretting of the Dennis-Durbridge trade? Because Durbridge sets the fastest time so far with almost a minute of advantage. 1’22’38 is his time. Will anyone go under 1h22?
Now it’s time for the big favourite to arrive at the finish, Taylor Phinney. And he’s 1’26 faster than Durbridge, coming dangerously close to go under 81 minutes. Wow, otherworldly performance again for the two-times reigning winner of the race
Sixth best time for Jungels. But he’s already 2’22 behind Phinney
Hepburn goes third fastest, but still is over 2 minutes worse than Phinney’s time
Kittel sets the second fastest time, exactly one minute slower than Phinney
After several riders like Gonzalez Salas, Dempster, Cataford, Stannard doing all terrible times, Brändle continues with his prologue form to take third place, 1’21 behind Phinney, and only 5 seconds ahead of Durbridge
Vlatos goes second, and can’t even be anywhere close to Phinney’s time, as he lost 41 seconds to the American rider
A bit disappointing time for Van Winden, who is outside Top10, losing 2’30 to Phinney
Not a good day for the German champion Jacob Fiedler, as he can only be fifth today, being 1’25 slower than Phinney
After a hopefull prologue, a terrible day for Paillot makes him lose over 3 minutes to Phinney’s time, who is getting closer to celebrate yet another win here in Karlovy Vary
Malori is the last threat for Phinney’s win, and obviously the Italian can’t come anywhere close to his time. Still a solid effort in 7th, 1’49 behind him
Only Stoltz left to finish, and he has end up losing 7 minutes today. His race was done in the prologue, and retaining the lead yesterday was just an extra
So Taylor Phinney wins today in Karlovy Vary this TT, to take the lead in GC over Vlatos and Kittel.
Total domination from RBC, as Cataford leads the U25 classification and they are leading by almost 2 minutes the Teams standings
