If i end the race not giving everything (some left in the green / yellow bar) will it affect my tiredness for the next race compared when you end up with your bars empty?
Also the green bar: if i'm correct it's affected by your stamina and influences your endgame speed. Is it also so that the more energy you spend the more the bar goes down or is it only distance related? For example when i did a early breakaway VS staying in the peloton, will staying in the peloton make me get to the lategame with more in my green bar than if i did an energy intensive breakaway?
That's definitely how it's supposed to be - each day the green bar regenerates by a fixed (?) amount (depending on a rider's recovery stat?) and if you use up too much one day it won't regenerate fully. I'm still unsure if a longer green bar has any advantage apart from the fact that if it ever runs out completely (which only happens very rarely) your rider's pace drops to a minimum speed.
df is correct, riders in a breakaway and pulling the peloton lose green bar a lot faster, I'm not even sure if it's just connected to the heart rate, you can have wind coming from behind and the heart rate of riders in the break and peloton look similar and still the breakaway rider loses more, but that could just be my imagination.
The green bar is a direct factor on a rider's speed as far as i know. So the more stamina you save during a stage, the faster your rider will be able to go at the end of the stage. Which makes sense.
in my experience if you have more green you can also ride faster with same level of effort and yellow/red bar, this is very important in long one day classics, but I have no precise data
