So I've been playing PCM 17 for quite some time now and I think it's great. The only race where I get frustated by the lack of reality is... Paris Rubaix. Lets say I've played Paris Rubaix about 20 times. Everytime the final ends up being a big group of 10-20 riders (so lame and unrealistic), every attack in the final 15 kms - everyone are able to follow. 1 attack, 2 attack, 10 attacks, everyone follows!
So 10 out of 10 times Sagan or Demare or EBH wins.
Therefore I decided to make a custom rider with 85 cobbles and rest Sagan stats. What happens? 1 attack, 2 attack, 10 attacks, everyone follows! Even Kekuleire with low stats are able to follow AAALLL the time...
I use the Dot - when going on paves I put it on 95%. Still after the sectors - everyone follows! I tried from 20, 30, 40, kms out, but that is not possible somehow since the energy falls too quick.. hmmm
So I decided to Google "Paris Rubaix pcm 17" and funny enough found loads of youtube videos where the case seems to be the same.
Can`t guarantee it as I never played PCM17 Paris Roubaix.
But cobbles have a rating between 1 (easy) and 5 (extreme). This can be edited for every single section.
I don`t know the exact ratings of the Cyanide version but for older PCM versions there are lots of versions where the difficulty of each sector is set to level 5 to get a more realistic outcome.
You could check through the stage db to download a Paris Roubaix variant. With the zcts file you can then go into the stage editor and edit the sector ratings and see if it is more realistic then.
IF (and this is an If only as I simply have no clue) the Cyanide version already is at level 5 for all paves, then you won`t get a more realistic outcome most likely.
Another thing is road wideness.
I prefer stages without narrow roads at all as they lead to other AI problems. But narrow roads can on cobbles lead to more selection and hence smaller groups.
I guess the official Cyanide version is with narrow roads already?
It seems that all sectors have their real stars level, so it can be a try.
Narrow roads are more realstic IMO, because also in real races you have to fight for positioning, and like also Nibali told about his experience in RVV you spend almost more energy to take front of group than in the real crucial point, but yes unfortunatly sometimes the AI is acting too bad
