A lot of contrast in amount of racing for teams in August, with two PTHC stage races. Some teams raced both, some teams raced none - but at least had the 2 PT classics to enjoy.
Puma were one of the teams in all races, and they earn the title for most points in August. But really, the story is Evonik. No stage races, but with a gigantic tally in Moscow, as well as winning East Midlands too, they were the 2nd highest scoring team of the month. Quite a PPrD!
eBuddy with the highest race score - just - after Gesink took the win in Portugal. No Bewley wins in either classic hurt Moser, while Festina continued to show their PTHC strength - top scoring in Deustchland.

Festina keep the lead, with Moser only able to close the gap by 25 points this month. Vesuvio remaining 3rd, but there's change behind, all of the next 12 teams are in a different position to last month.
Aegon move up to 4th, while Evonik jump up to 5th and Puma up to 7th. Pendleton's only just below Evonik, as they now find themselves 6th. RBC, Wiesenhof and Hugo Boss also slipped down - the latter finally having been caught by the pack, after Alarcon launched them upwards.
Gesink delivers eBuddy to 11th, past Aker, Spotify and Gazelle - who all look likely to be in safe positions now.
In 15th then, and still with cause for concern, are Jayco. More than 400 points behind 14th, less than 400 points away from the final relegation position. Porto and Ayubowan being closer to the drop, although Yates has again given the Sri Lankan squad a timely boost in Portugal - while the home squad were left quite disappointed with their output.
Ayubowan's gains just mean more work for Strava to do, 195 points from safety now. Tinkoff very much still in the right, being only 30 points further back. Nemiroff still 20th, and while it was a decent month for Iberia from their limited race days, they may struggle to get beyond 21st.

Moser are time travelers
Interesting to see how the battle at the top will unfold, Moser ahead on projected rankings but can they overtake Festina and take the crown?
Relegation battle all still close, sad to see some teams being involved in them and surely my sympathies to them being in the same position a division lower.

That month from Evonik... Insane!
Looking very close both at the top and bottom.
Think our Norwegian/Scandinavian friends looks safe and with Bobridge looking good in Ukraine, Jayco also look quite decent for avoiding relegation. Hopefully it will stay that way!

It's just a terrible season. Even more terrible, since I thought I would have done well to maybe reach our best PT result yet
Tinkoff/Trofimov will probably score the same points than we (might) score in Ukraine.. and I assume Trofimov will be in Tasmania to challenge for a Top-3/5 just like Bobridge. Any more failure and we will still be in big troubles. I can't say it too often: I hate our season
Thanks for the update, SN. Even though I was quite happy to read the CT/PCT rankings updates first

A good month scoring above 500 points, but still dropping one place is kind of worrying. Must admit I had hoped we could get inside the top 10 by now, but it looks like a difficult task, especially seeing how well Hugo Boss and Ponzi are doing in Ukraine. But as the update says, we' should be well safe from the fight to avoid relegation, which is obviously the most important thing.
And this still looks like a thriller at the top and in the relegation zone. Festina still the favourites in my opinion, having a very good Tasmania team including Coppel, I suspect, and then also maybe Spilak in Lombardia?
Thank you for the update, SN |

Wow, what a ridiculous month for us. Cant get any better than this. Outscoring nearly all teams with 3-4x more RDs is sth which will only hapoen once in a team's history so i cant explain how lucky i have been. The fight for a top 5 is completely open for us again. We still have some fine races left as with the exception of the TTT we have a good leader for every remaining race. Still, its a long way to go and Pendeltons and Puma are close behind. And especially Puma is expected to be a close rival for us at all times
Seriously no idea who should be considered favourite for the crown. Festina probably still has some good races to end the season (Tasmania!) But Moser has ToNE Bewley and Sagan didnt perform too bad so far either
Situation looks tough for Strava. Gotta hope they can pull themselves out of this situation
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Interesting how the teams are bunched together, top 2, then 3rd-7th, 8th-14th and finally the relegation scrap.

Moser scoring 85 points from Ukraine and then have a cobble and a flat PTHC race more than us. Both will have Bewley.
So the 250 point gap will quickly become 200 the other way around.
Will we score 200 higher than Moser in Tasmania compared to the loss we will receive in TONE? Absolutely not.
And I doubt that Spilak will outscore Sagan in Lombardia, which is much better suited for Sagan looking at the latest results.
So it is difficult for me to see how we should be the favorites. The projected difference is likely the more realistic scenario.

Evonik having such a huge month was not ideal for us. Pressure is on now to stay in the top5. Definitely need Boom to show up in TONE for that.
Having a really shit race in Moscow with Swift/Groenewegen was obviously not good for the rankings.
Though the remaining races should be good for us. TONE, Tasmania and Lombardia clearly need good performances. |

August was a really scary month for us. Being the second to last PT team in Portugal is daunting and really leaves our chances of staying up in a precarious situation. October should bring us a few final chances, but September is bound to be another slow month.
Thanks for another update SN!

Well, top 10 doesn't look too out of reach. But I guess we have more chances of overtaking Wiesenhof rather than Hugo Boss. And there's keeping Aker and Gazelle behind us.

I am a lot sceptical about our chances now. I really need big results from Bewley and Vakoc in TONE and then Bewley's win in Rheden and ideally in Lisbon as well. We really need to have some decent advantage before Tasmania as I can't expect anything major from Vakoc or Vesely there, Festina are likely getting quite a solid results there. Sagan/Vakoc vs Spilak/Koretzky in Lombardia should be then close. I can't afford any failed races now.
Thanks for the update a lot!
