Hi everyone.
I'm trying to find a version that "comes close to reality" in terms of simulation. I'm fan of cycling but don't play this for some time. Always a fan of the game but in recent years,is a disappointment imo. If Cyanide don't make a huge step this year(if stil come anything ofc) I'm about to give up and stop give my money to this recent PCM's. this new PCM in terms of what i want,is bit bad. Comes last mountains and everyone attacks -.-'
But oh well. and another cons: Cyanide support the game after release, which is a joke too lol
in your opinion which is the best version/balanced in terms of gameplay?
Played a lot of PCM 11, 14, 15 and 17. Sadly I agree with you that PCM17 is by far the worst.
I think '11 was the best (seen that comment from others as well). But not sure you can get that or that it will work on newer OS's.
There was a similar recent thread linked below that seemed to settle on '15. I think '14 and '15 are both OK but would vote '14 myself (riders still tried long range attacks in the mountains in '14)
I bought 17 last week (instantly regretted it), but I tried 15 with the 2017 db, and Im enjoying that. Simulation seems really easy tho, I've completed 2 seasons and won all 6 grand tours with 80/79 MO riders, when the top MO riders are 83.
PCM 11 and 08 are definitely my favourite AI wise, 08 being the most fun (not necessarily more realistic tho), but 15 would honestly probably be 3rd if I were to rank the games by AI.
I've played every game since the very first Cycling Manager in 2001. I only play career mode, the last enjoyable edition for me is PCM11. Still playing it with a 2017 db that I made based on PCMDaily DB for PCM17.

PCM 2014, 2015 is good too but it has a problem with huge gaps
I played 14 and 17, and I found one better in something and one in others, I think in 17 is closer to what happen in realty but even don't means is more fun, but there are some things that aren't working well, like sprints in narrow corners and riders bleeding for a point in a 4cat KOM. 14 is good, but more arcade game and sometimes too easy
btw I still don't know which one I got more fun
I played 3, 2011 and 2014. I have to say 3 was actually enjoyable, even though it lacked the realism of later games. The 2011 one was the best for me, easily. Then 2014 looked good but the gameplay was a bit worse then 2011.

Which one had the bug where RES didn't do anything? Was that '13?
I forget if it was 12 or 13 but it was one of those. 15 is definitely an improvement on either of those tho, so I wouldn't consider 12 or 13 at this point.
Couple of rather annoying issues: Sprints are totally broken, the AI never forms a train and usually the main sprinters are going from 2km. So if you can set-up a half decent train and start your sprint 1.5/1km a victory is usually guaranteed.
Breakaways are sort of broken. If there is not human rider in the break the AI will chase differently (barely) to if the break has a human rider (always chased hard). Ok there are elements around that; is the break big or good, does the human team have a stage favoruite or well placed GC rider. But the frequency is more towards: Does break have Human player? If YES, chase hard and chach. If NO, let human chase. Note: This applies to stages in a race, in classics the AI does chase properly.
Mountains are ok. The AI is quite good at attacking earlier with lower GC riders trying to gain time, and given the breakaway issue above this often leads to them getting time back or making me chase all day long. But otherwise yes things usually wait until the final climb, but the AI works well enough and isn't completely predictable.
Hills are similar, and the AI does like to attack a good distance out. Makes for fun racing between attacking AI and chasing AI. Gives me options as the player.
Cobbles again are good, nothing different except the AI isn't good at recognising ride strengths e.g. The AI will attack Boonen from a small group when he'd crush a small sprint finish, but it won't attack Cancellara away from Boonen in a 2-man move.
A few other issues in the game (oh my god, the sprint bug where you click sprint but nothing happens.... oh my god that bug is as close to gamebreaking as possible...) but the AI works well for fun if not realism. And the rest of the game holds together as well.
Havn't played PCM11 recently to compare (i no longer own it), but it would only take a few changes and fixes for it to be a better option over 10.

Thanks for share and explain some points about PCM10. Aprecciate the effort
Never play PCM2010. Only 06' ( Descent with Salvodelli > ) and '08. Have great fun in both of them. Can't say the same with the recent games..
