So this is my noob estimate, points are scored in 8 categories: Stage Racer, Climber, Hilly Climber, Puncher/Sprinter, Tempo Rider, Sprinter, Fighter and Cobbler, but weighted differently. Besides that the team is also scoring based on the overall of all riders,
In all catagories (based on stupid and hopelessly long formulas) 40 riders score points from 40 – 1, the same team can have more than one rider in same category but the 2nd will be reduced with a small factor, the 3rd even more, based on the assumption that they sometimes will be acting as an addition to the leader, rather that score points on their own.
The downside to this method is that the same rider can score in many categories, but haven’t got unlimited race days. Hope that is balanced by the fact that such rider must be rather dangerous, and I am evaluation rather deep into the squads.
To show the most valuable rider based on this method, my formula comes up with this amount of “Tamipoints” for the top 25 scoring riders:

This is my preview combined result of the 2017 CT season team standings.
Not the best prediction so far for us, but it looks like the predictions that works with lots of formula don't like our team
Also, with CT riders i can see better how the formula for individual rider works. I think the formula overvalues to be really strong in two or more different categories, but as you already said: "The downside to this method is that the same rider can score in many categories"

In my system you score well in Stage/Mountain, what make your total score a bit low is that you have just few riders scoring most of your points, not many smaller scores from secondary riders / and low scores in most other catagories.
Another great statistical preview! What's the most interesting to me is the gap between 9th and 10th. Wonder if the season will end up sorta like that too.
Finally a formula that puts us in promotion I can see that the Tamipoints really like multiple terrains (and especially given the CT calendar it's another example of climber and stage races skewing the standings towards climbers because most have two terrains to be good at already). But great work Tamijo, very interesting analysis

The better sprinters and cobbler is in the 120-160 points range, I think that seems fair enough, based on the fact that very many quite equal riders will compete in the sprints (there is so many good sprinters this season) and with just 10 cob races including C1, a cobbler needs some extra (sprint or hill or something) to get into the 120+ range. (still talking Tamipoints)
