I have a quick question about the stat progress you make as a Pro Cyclist in PCM 2017.
The idea was to become the new Oscar Freire. Fast, but also able to survive a hill or two.
So I started out as a sprinter and I now have high enough sprinting stats. So I wanted to develop my hill stats next in order survive the longer and more difficult races. (Milan-San Remo or maybe even LBL in the long run)
So I changed the focus of the training to "hill specialist" (free translation, I play the game in dutch)
Now here's the funny part: I recently went up another level and for the second consecutive time (even though the expected growth for hill was +3) it didn't go up at all.
Instead I got minor increases in resistance, endurance and even climbing went up +1.
Can anyone explain if something similar happened to them? Any advice on what I should do?
On a sidenote: I read a thread that said that the hill stat had no effect at all in this years game. Maybe I should change it to climbing? Although that wouldn't make much sense for a sprinter and I would miss out on the endurance upgrade. |

Should I wait another level and see if it happens again. Maybe I just had bad luck? I just don't want to invest all this time and getting nothing out of it. |

When you transition from a training to a pretty different one, it's normal that you won't get the results you want immediately. You should wait a bit to see some results

you have to adjust the rider-potential-stats in your database. |

Changing potential in the middle of a career is useless, not sure what you're talking about.

if you create a sprinter, his hill and mountain potential is very low and can't be increased with training. The closer you come to your maximum stats-points the harder it is to reach them. Thats why his training doesn't affect the hill-stat like it should.
If you change the potential-stats in the database, you can actually reach the stats of a rider like freire. |

The limit stats then, because if you change the potential that won't work.
Also, what you say is not completely true. If he wants Freire I don't think he wants to make a rider with 76+ hill, but he aims to get 72 or 73. The limit stat for hill is well above that when you create a sprinter with >=6 potential.

freire would be 76+ yes
he was always one of the best on the cauberg and liege bastogne liege
@prozacky the progression in stats is affected by the training but also very random
you can make a backup of your save just before you rise in level then advance the week to rise in level and if you dont like the stats put the save back in and do it again until you get stats you like
it also doesnt matter what training type youre doing before
you can change it on the day you rise a level and its the same as if you spent a year on it |

Thank you all for your valuable input.
It was worth looking into the database, the limit I've found for hill was 77. I didn't have any particular stat in mind, 75 would've been nice, anything higher would've been bonus.
I just have a hard time getting past that 70 barrier. And it's no fun getting dropped in almost every race over 200k that's not completely flat.
So I suppose my best bet is to keep progressing like I am doing now and eventually I'll grow those stats.
I don't like to change anything in the DB, feels too much like cheating.
Thanks again for the advice all. |

Like always with Cyanide, you are supposed to believe that choices actually matter...but like other stuff in PCM this is more random dice roll than anything. You will get to similar stats in the end with completely different choices. The idea of unique built rider is very illusional

I agree with Avin Wargunnson, progress points distribution looks pretty random. |

yea it is random, be sure to save and backup just before you have a level up. then load the save file till you get the stats you wantet to
or the cheater way you can edit the DB |

I usually play normal and try to get my build. And if I don't get my build at level 27 I edit the stats, but never higher than my potential limit. That way I can 'train' my rider to his potential limit, but never above. |

Edit your savegame with one of these editors. You'll find your savegame in documents\pcm 17\users\you.

Probably that is the weeklysave folder. Try to find the folder Cloud, then your username and you will find every savegame.
