PCM 17/18: Wishlist
matt17br
Here you can post what you would like to see in PCM 18 (or in a later patch of PCM 17, if the idea is doable in a short time span). I will make sure the suggestions reach Cyanide.

Make sure to be specific and explain in some detail, not everything can be done easily, and not everyone is in your mind to understand what you mean.

Make sure to follow this template:

Idea: proper modding of game
Why? things like interface mods could lift the game up to higher level, more then the yearly patch they call a yearly release.

A general thing for the PCM 17/18 Wishlist: Please keep track of all the suggestions in the first post, so that we don't have doubles and a quick overview on the General Points already tackled. I think of a table, where every suggestion is drawn with a link to the post.

Further (for 2018)

Idea: Dynamic Developement System

Explaination of idea: Give different types of riders different developement phases. Some riders should have the chance of growing later, while other have a more linear type or are early birds. Categories are there to put all riders into, while styles could be an optional column for riders.

Categories:

- Early developement rider (high early stats, most of the development before 24)
- Normal rider (linear development, most of the riders would stay in this category)
- Late developement rider (low early stats, development more happening in the second half of the twenties than in the third)

Styles:

- Kickstarter (normal development, but has the chance of receiving a sudden increase of stats after a game-changing point (big win, team change, leader role,...)
- Cross speciality rider (has the chance of a sudden rise in a main stat that was not as developed before on a high age (28+), mostly starting when decline is in sight)
- Unstable moral (will develope when he is leading his team, will decrease when he is a domestique - an arrival of a better rider in the team will have an immediate impact, the department of a rider that has been higher ranked than him does as well)
- Money Maker (the higher the wage the lower the development, as the rider isn't as hungry to train to be the best as before -mostly early and harsh decrease when growing old, but steep developement as a young rider

of course lots of options here to find more, just was a general example of how this could spice up development

Why: With the current system there is no chance to draw the potential of f.e. late starters or long term domestiques to rise in their roles. Older Riders would benefit from this, as some types of riders just don't develop anymore even if they are drawn with a high potential just because of age issues. For example, I am talking of the likes of Damian Howson, Ondrej Cink or Primoz Roglic - all of them surely have loads of potential left, but they are very likely to have a real developement due to age issues. That, in my opinion, is just wrong.
Another thing to point on here is the different types of riders. While sprinters often go linear in their developement, stage racers or flat specialists often develop late in their age. Like this, for example Tony Martin could well work as a potential late cobble shifter.

Would love to see some feedback on this, because I have no clue whether this might only be a fancy idea of mine as a career & management fan and only a pot of gold for me or a real issue that many players would like to see. Developing riders is a major part of the game, and my heart bleeds seeing this left aside year by year (for team career)...

1. I would like to see national teams anticipate in races in their own country. Now you can only manage them at the word cup races. Hope you can select a national team with young riders in races in their home country. You can only select riders from teams who are not participate in that race of course. Or riders without a contract.

2. Ability to transfer a rider during the season from the CT level to a WT team.

3. More realistic transfers.

4. The ability to offer different kind of contracts to riders. Leader, helper, master helper.

Ian Butler
@croatia: that's a very nice idea and I'd love to see it, too.
With generated riders you could then have riders not too good but suddenly at the age of 27 they start to blosom.

Croatia14
@brianbentert: I especially agree with the first one - would also give races a lot more realistic startlists, and open the doors for many races in f.e. Southern America or Africa, where national teams are an essencial part of the racing

@Ian: yeag, your example is exactly one of what I thought of - breaking the linearity and predictionability of riders in first place

Idea : National Teams 'Qualifications' (World Championships)

Explaination of idea :
Instead of having a fixed set of nations participating at WC each with a fixed number of cyclistsn I think it could be more interesting to rather have it more similar to the UCI WC system, with nations (and their number of cyclists) being selected through their results.
UCI's system is the following : 10 best nations get 9 cyclists, 11-20th get 6, 21-30th get 3 and 31-50th only 1 (200 participant in total). The ranking is taken on the 15th August.
So, the idea is having Nations' number of riders and wether the nation is qualified or not through their ranking, could be either in Superprestige or in World Tour, with well performing nations having more riders and less performing nations having fewer riders (and those that are badly ranked wouldn't participate at all). Numbers doesn't have to be the same as UCI's ofc.

Why :
Currently, the numbers are (arbitrarily) set through a similar logic with some countries having more riders at WC than others and it works well, but when it comes to long careers, there's a lot that can happen (through generated riders) and there's nations that could rise and others that could fall. You could have a Potential 8 rider with 80+ average not being able to participate at WC because he's not from the right nation, or a full team of not so good riders at WC. It's also disappointing when you're playing with a team from a country that doesn't participate to WC in the current system, and have no way to have your riders taking part in it (for those that are from your team's country ofc), even though they have good results.
It also adds a bit more of challenge and interactivity as your team's results will influence how much riders you'll have at WC, aswell as a bit more diversity as you won't always have the same teams in the same numbers.

Issues with the idea :
Well, that means that there should be a national team jersey for each nation in the game (so 100+ jerseys instead of the current 20 something), which can be quite a lot of work for such a small system (it concerns only 2 races in the whole season afterall).

What?
U23 World Championship road race and U23 World Championship ITT and also World Championship team time trial.

Explanaition:
Just another race.

Why?
With U23 WC young riders and players in Pro Cyclist mode could have another interesting aims in season. And TTT is obviously huge part of WC. So it would be awesome when we could ride those.

I'm too lazy to write my idea by rules. But my idea is too add more NC for all countries.

I would ask all the people from the Balkan to contact me so that we can create our community.

List of Balkan countries:
- Albania
- Bosnia & Herzegovina
- Bulgaria
- Croatia
- Greece
- Kosovo
- Macedonia
- Montenegro
- Romania
- Serbia
- Slovenia
- Turkey

Idea: In Pro Cyclist mode, the game should treat your team mates as opponents in regards to the difficulty level

Explanation of idea:

I play on extreme ever since the Pro Cyclist mode was introduced, and it's very annoying that the higher difficulty level applies to your team mates too, even though they race on automatic and therefore on the same AI as the opponents.

I propose treating them similar to all the other riders and thus not have their stats affected by the difficulty to allow for more realism and less frustration.

A potential issue might arise when you control your team mates, as you can then exploit the game again with potentially better riders than your pro.
Either we speculate on the player always trying to give himself the best results, or a potential solution would be to have a trigger to reinstate the difficulty effects whenever you remove someone from the automatic control.

Why:

My team mates constantly underperform because they can't exploit the game mechanics in the way the player has to to overcome the stats deficit, leaving them unable to get realistic results in 90% of the races.

Especially when riding as a helper for them as a young rider, it's very frustrating to do your best to protect them or set them up for a result, just to see their bars disappear too quickly.
The same goes for when you are a leader and you don't have anybody left to protect you or set you up for the final because even pre-race favorites from your team are completely spent rather early.
Similarly, if a team mate joins a break, he's nearly always the first to get dropped from it because of the stats drop from the difficulty.

Idea: Historic Database

Explanation of idea: Being able to start in any year from the first Tour De france to present day

Why: Wouldn't it be great to be able to start in 1903 and the first tour de france or start in 1969 to witness the Merckx years? Being able to sign or follow the career of Sean Kelly after seeing him in tour l'avenir?

Other ideas for it below:
Sponsors Kits Split in to decades or eras
Real start and end dates for races
Real rider career start dates.

PCM struggles to make a contemporary database, doubt they'd ever consider that Pfft

Your historic database is very interesting.
Sounds too complicated though to be a realistic option.
Perhaps, to make the idea more realistic in the foreseeable future, a few select Tour de France's can be chosen (for example, 1961 with Anquetil, 1970 with Merckx, 1985 with Hinault and Lemond)
Imagine racing as Zoetemelk against Merckx!
I know it's difficult idea, but it is a brilliant concept for the future.

Idea: no rider limit in NC's
Explanation of idea: there is a rider limit per team (8 riders) for the NC's, while in real there is no limit
Why (No one word or some word posts): it's realistic, because in real, there is also no rider limit. I would understand if this is difficult, because you can't control 15 riders with only riders on the left side of your screen

I want to be able to connect my smart trainer to cycling manager so it feels like I'm actually riding myself in the pro peleton.

Since more and more people have smart trainers (rollers where you put your own race bike on that communicates with your pc) or have power meters and communities like Zwift and BKool are ever groing, I think Cyanide has a giant opportunity here.

I guess alot of people would like to be in the race themself, instead of giving there pro cyclists instructions with a click, they would love riding their bike in their living room and see how it moves their ingame cyclists.

and it's actually not even that hard to implement, the AI wouldn't even require any changes:

- Connection with the smart trainer / power meters, this might even be the 'hardest' thing to do, and I think it's not even that hard since there's probably a standard over all that hardware (seeing how many trainers are supported in other software) and it's probably documented quite good because the vendors obviously want their hardware(smart trainers) to be used by as much solutions as possible

- Ingame only small changes are needed I think: the cyclist you are controlling should have unlimited energy (because it should not get fatigue if you are not) and it's speed should not be controlled by the ingame settings but by the conversion of the wattage output of your smart trainer. (and let the AI react on your speed like you are riding on the DOT)

- Extra, they should send back the gradient you are currently riding on to the smart trainer so it gives you the correct resistance when going up/downhill and give feedback when you are protected/riding in peleton to lower the resistance on your trainer because of the 'draft (slipstream) effect'

- Difficulty levels can be done by multiplying or dividing the output of wattage by a certain number so speed is adjusted

A community like Zwift is very popular, but it's missing a great advantage that cyanide has, in cycling manager you can ride full stages in a reasonable amount of time, riding real races amongst real cyclists and try to win the tour de france yourself or win a sprint against Marcel Kittel.

Idea 1
Most likely to be implemented in the 2018 version.

Idea:
Combine the season planning of the 2016 and 2017 season.

Explanation of idea: I would like so see a combination of the 2016 and 2017 season planning, being able to plan all races on your calendar like in the 2016 version a lot easier than in the 2017 version. Although i like the fitness system of the 2017 season so that should still be in the game.

Why (No one word or some word posts): Because i'm having difficulty of keeping track of all the races on my calendar, what races my riders are in (and how many this season), so i mostly just plan the most important races. An unwanted result is that the fatique goes up much quicker than i planned because the race is not taken into account when planning the season.

Idea 2

Could be implemented in the 2017 version already.

Idea: Copy fitness schedules.

Explanation of idea: Being able to copy fitness schedules to you domestiques for example or when you make custom general fitness schedules for early classics fitness, giro fitness, tour fitness etc.

Why (No one word or some word posts): It would make season planning just a little bit easier for those who like to microplan their teams Smile

Idea: The "morale" surplus bar

Explanation of idea: A portion of a rider's red (& maybe yellow) bar shouldn't be allowed to be consumed unless happening the following:
you're approaching the finish (say, 3 km)
you're in a break away and the group's gonna catch you
you're performing an action decisive for winning...
..or following someone doing that (Nibali with Quintana at the Blockhaus)
you're a domestique helping your leader with the final effort
Of course, better FTR (or maybe a new parameter ad hoc, say GRIT) would beneficially alter the parameters (you can access the surplus bar in advance respect to the others)

Why: That's what happens in real life. Anybody who's racing for real can tell you. Moreover, I'm tired to see in PCM17 ALL the top riders in mountain stages with both the red & yellow bars over... and still 3 kms to the finish line! Even with some exercise of masochism, one would hardly ever kill himself in that way! And if someone feels he has no energies left, perhaps he finds the strength to sprint when the arrival is approaching.

Idea: Adding Helmets to the choosable equipment again

Explanation of idea: It was always possible in most of the previous PCM's to choose the helmets for your team or each rider. As far as I know there is a significant difference between aero helmets and the usual "open" helmets. Aero helmets are better on flat stages, while the "open" helmets are cooling better and so are more often choosen on mountain stages.
Also it would be nice, if we could change helmet colors for each team or for special trikots (like you can add yellow gloves for your leader in TdF)

Why: You see e.g. aero helmets everywhere in the Peleton, and colored helmets very often with the leaders of a jersey.

Hello dear community,

I'm Majestico a long time player of Pcm and a former World Champion on PCM in the track discipline.
In this post I want to highlight specifically the track disciplinein PCM.
The track discipline which started in 2008 had built up a great community and player basis, which led to various online events.
Unfortunately as there have not been any improvements since the release of track, the community started to loose interest and the multiplayer events got canceled.
I really believe that with some improvements on this discipline we can get the multiplayer mode much livelier.

Idea:
1. Add new Game Modes: Madison, Team Pursuit, 1km Time Trial, Team sprint
2. Gameplay Improvments: 2 separate bars like in road race: Stamina bar and the bar for accleration

Explanation of Idea and Why
1. Since the release of track there has not been any single changes. A new discipline would draw a lot of attention and is really demanded
2. Changes here will demand much more skill of players and will contribute to spending more time on this game and will definitely make it more exciting
