Hello and welcome to Kandy for the Sri Lankan National Championships. A hilly route lies ahead for the 14 riders on the start line, with Ayubowan! making up 10 of those present.



Two riders attacked the start of the race, building a quick lead and working well together. Tushantha Rajapakshage and Nihal Silva (both AYO) found themselves clear with Rajapakshage looking to defend his Road Race title.



Lapping the main pack twice (!), it was very clear that the winner would come from this pair, and despite numerous attacks from Rajapakshage each lap, it would come down to a sprint up to the finish.



And it is a successful defence for Rajapakshage! He was forced to lead out the sprint to the line, but Silva was just able to come around him.

The rest of the peleton came in a long time after, and miles outside the time limit.

The time trial the day after was a chance for Tushantha Rajapakshage to add the TT title to his RR crown. a clear favourite, it would take a disaster for him not to take the victory.



And as expected, Rajapakshage wins here in Kandy. Very comfortable throughout, he will have an advantage of 2'23" over his nearest rival
