Hello and welcome the National Championships of Luxembourg and San Marino. A flat route lay ahead for the riders, where a sprint at the end is very much expected.



David Claerebout (INS) and Giacomo Scarponi (SPR) attacked shortly after the flag drop and soon they opened up a large gap. Is this a day for the break?



With a 12 minute gap to the peleton, the respective NCs were sewn up very quickly.
From there, it was all down to who would win the stage. Claerebout attacked with 4km to go, and sealed the victory on the day. Scarponi rolled in for 2nd place, but both were crowned the National Champions of Luxembourg and San Marino.

The time trial was very much a cut and shut job, with both Nations having one stand out rider against the clock.



David Claerebout (INS) would double up on his Luxembourg Road Race title by taking the TT crown as well. Despite being the hot favourite though, he was forced to work for his win, as Jempy Drucker was only 3" slower in 2nd place.



In fact, the close battle was meant to come in the San Marino, but Andrea Enrico Maccagli (SPR) would take the Time Trial title ahead of Paolo Scarponi (VUK) and Luca Forcellini (SPR) by 35" at the finish.
