Welcome to the National Championships of China! 10 riders line up spread across 7 teams so no team will have any real control over the race, so favourites Li and Zhang might have trouble contesting the win.
Wu is the only rider who wants to attack this morning, and he gets a gap quickly.
With 5km left Wu has an 18 minute lead and must be feeling good, he can’t sit up yet though as Ji feels optimistic and attacks the peloton and embarks on an epic chase.
Wu has a while to celebrate his victory as next year’s national champion! Nobody else manages to complete the course.
The time trial seems like a pretty clear battle between Li and Shikai with no other riders being at all close to them.
Shikai is first onto the course of the two contenders and he easily claims the best time on course so far with a time of 1h18’53, over 3 minutes faster than the next rider.
Li is untouchable though! He beats Shikai by 1’39 and claims the Chinese Time Trial Champions jersey!
