The queen stage is upon us! 191 kms with absolutely 0 flat sections, just 1 climb following the other in a circuit that the riders will repeat 5 times.

It's only logical to expect huge gaps from a stage that has proven epic in previous editions, with pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/lpm.png Dowsett obviously coming here as top favourite after what he's shown in the previous days, with pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/kmm.png Klemme, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/frs.png Barbin and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/t3a.png Yates closely behind him who will certainly want to improve their position, as will several others.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Pologne/6.png

Some renown names in the break today, as we've seen most of these riders trying their luck already in earlier stages, some more than once or twice.

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/fnz.png Daspuntsag, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/iso.png Kasa, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/hpa.png Choe, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/tcr.png Ito, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/0r8.png Lloyd and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/chi.png Marcos are the 6 that will animate today's stage, that features 8 1st category climbs and will therefore obviously decide the KoM competition, and in fact it's not by chance that all the riders in the standings' top 3 are in the head right now.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Pologne/PCM0060.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/0r8.png Lloyd, 3rd in the ranking, immediately shows his intentions by dominating the first KoM sprint after pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/fnz.png Daspuntsag started his sprint too early; pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/tcr.png Ito is 2nd and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/iso.png Kasa 3rd.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Pologne/PCM0061.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/t3a.png Ewan and Sample join the 6 of them in the descent leading to the 2nd categorised climb of the day.

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/t3a.png Ewan is 4th in the KoM standings, while Sample is 5th, which means that the entire top 6 of the fuchsia jersey competition is now in the break. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/hpa.png Choe precedes pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/tcr.png Ito and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/0r8.png Lloyd in the 2nd sprint of the day, which means that the gap pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/0r8.png Lloyd had from pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/fnz.png Daspuntsag has been reduced to just 24 points from 40... With 125 kms to go, the gap between the pack and the leaders amounts to 5 minutes and a half.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Pologne/PCM0062.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/tcr.png Ito is so far the one that has made the most points today, beating out pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/t3a.png Ewan and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/chi.png Marcos in the 3rd KoM point of the day.

15 kms later, when it's time for the next one, it's still pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/tcr.png Ito outsprinting pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/0r8.png Lloyd and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/chi.png Marcos. The Australian now only has 14 points to recuperate from pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/fnz.png Daspuntsag, with 4 climbs that are still going to award valuable points.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Pologne/PCM0063.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/tcr.png Ito continues his domination in the next climb, holding off pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/hpa.png Choe and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/0r8.png Lloyd this time around. Not looking good for an out of shape pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/fnz.png Daspuntsag, that only has 4 points left to lose from a much greener pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/0r8.png Lloyd.

For once, it's not pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/tcr.png Ito, 3rd, taking 16 points but another of the usual suspects, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/hpa.png Choe, ahead of pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/fnz.png Daspuntsag that finally wakes up and makes pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/0r8.png Lloyd's mission a lot harder as the Aussie is only 6th. However, with 2 categorised climbs to be faced, it's now pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/hpa.png Choe who represents pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/fnz.png Daspuntsag's biggest rival, as he's only 6 points behind him, while pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/0r8.png Lloyd, with 130, is 12 behind.

The only intermediate sprint of the day is taken by pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/fnz.png Daspuntsag in front of pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/chi.png Marcos and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/tcr.png Ito, when 46 kilometres are yet to be raced and the peloton is 2 minutes back.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Pologne/PCM0064.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/elt.png Ilias joins the 6 in the head of the race with 33 to go, while they have lost pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/yas.png Semple and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/t3a.png Ewan in the meantime.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Pologne/PCM0065.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/0r8.png Lloyd is close to dethroning pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/fnz.png Daspuntsag, but pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/tcr.png Ito beats him in the 7th KoM sprint of the day. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/elt.png Ilias is 3rd.

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/0r8.png Lloyd is now 4 points behind pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/fnz.png Daspuntsag, just like he was before.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Pologne/PCM0066.jpg

As it starts raining, a wild pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/elt.png Ilias decides he wants to go for the stage.

22 kms to go, and the Greek is still gaining seconds on pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/tcr.png Ito, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/0r8.png Lloyd and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/chi.png Marcos, that have dropped the other members of today's break.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Pologne/PCM0067.jpg

Meanwhile, in the 3rd group 1 minute behind pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/elt.png Ilias, it's pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/spw.png Delage, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/esc.png Appleby, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/spw.png Dowling and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/lse.png De Clercq that have joined pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/iso.png Kasa, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/fnz.png Daspuntsag and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/hpa.png Choe.

The group is struggling to recuperate time from the break riders, and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/elt.png Ilias is 2 minutes and a half in front of them with less than 20 kms to go.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Pologne/PCM0068.jpg

Bad news for both pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/hpa.png Choe and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/fnz.png Daspuntsag that, along with pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/iso.png Kasa, have been caught by the peloton with 12 kms to go. This means that it wouldn’t take a too high position for pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/0r8.png Lloyd to take over the jersey.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Pologne/PCM0069.jpg

At the same time, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/lse.png De Clercq, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/spw.png Dowling, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/esc.png Appleby and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/spw.png Delage join pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/chi.png Marcos, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/tcr.png Ito and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/0r8.png Lloyd.

They are still 27 seconds behind pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/elt.png Ilias, but now only 40 seconds ahead of the pack, made up of about 55 units.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Pologne/PCM0070.jpg

Before they have a chance to sprint for the points in the last climb of the day, 6 of the 7 behind pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/elt.png Ilias get caught. Only 6 because pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/chi.png Marcos is trying to use all the energies he has left to catch the Greek in front of him.

Good news for pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/fnz.png Daspuntsag as well, as pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/0r8.png Lloyd would have to sprint from the pack to overtake him now, and considering the pace, that's hard to foresee.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Pologne/PCM0071.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/elt.png Ilias is still alone in the front and takes 16 points ahead of pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/chi.png Marcos, who settles for 12. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/nwb.png De Marchi from the pack takes 10, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/esc.png Appleby 8, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/nwb.png Khripta 6, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/lpm.png Dowsett 4 and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/0r8.png Diggle 2, which means that pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/fnz.png Daspuntsag remains in the lead of the Mountain standings.

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/0r8.png Lloyd would have to win tomorrow's only categorised climb to overtake him. 9 kms to go now, and with the final climb yet to be faced, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/chi.png Marcos is 15 seconds in front of the peloton, and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/elt.png Ilias is 25" ahead of him.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Pologne/PCM0072.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/chi.png Marcos does however get caught shortly after, and the same is destined to happen to pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/elt.png Ilias with exactly 5 kms to go.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Pologne/PCM0073.jpg

With 2 kilometres to go, the front has only just hit the last climb of the day, and several riders are in the first rows of this 50-riders peloton. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/lpm.png Dowsett got caught off guard by the climb, and finds himself a few positions back. He will find it hard to contend today's stage, but as long as he doesn't get a gap from anyone he'll wear his leader jersey tomorrow as well.

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/frs.png Barbin follows his teammate pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/frs.png Pavarin's wheel and is in a great position, just as are pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/cdb_cur.png De Maar, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/nwb.png Khripta, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/0r8.png Nzeke, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/chi.png Milan, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/chi.png Kinney, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/iso.png Bole and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/kmm.png Klemme.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Pologne/PCM0074.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/frs.png Pavarin is still going really strong under the flamme rouge, as he keeps taking pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/frs.png Barbin further to the front.

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/nwb.png Khripta and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/mop.png Michely are close to Ferrero's set-up, while two other riders have teammates helping in front of them, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/chi.png Kinney and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/kmm.png Klemme, with pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/mop.png Mancuso and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/0r8.png Nzeke close to them.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Pologne/PCM0075.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/frs.png Pavarin is done with his perfect work and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/frs.png Barbin gets off his wheel, already well in the front. The only rider that is looking able to compete with him is pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/chi.png Kinney, but even he will have a really hard time trying to beat him.

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/nwb.png Taborre, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/t3a.png Yates and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/kmm.png Klemme are also fighting for a podium.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Pologne/PCM0076.jpg

And pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/frs.png Barbin takes the queen stage! No way a gap will be awarded, but at least the Italian is still in touch with pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/lpm.png Dowsett, and thanks to bonus seconds he could still take over the GC tomorrow.

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/t3a.png Yates is a very nice 2nd, and he also is within reach of the first place if he takes advantage of bonus seconds tomorrow.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Pologne/PCM0077.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/0r8.png Diggle outsprints pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/nwb.png Taborre, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/frs.png Pavarin, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/kmm.png Klemme and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/chi.png Kinney for the last podium spot, all being close to each other.

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/mop.png Hategeka is 8th, and he precedes pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/yas.png Tiernan-Locke and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/cdb_cur.png De Maar, who rounds off the top 10.

Tough luck for pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/lpm.png Dowsett today, 11th, who will however still keep the jersey thanks to his past performances. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/mop.png Michely is 12th and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/iso.png Bole 13th.
