Bayern Rundfahrt - Stage 3
matt17br
2nd sprint stage of 3, the easiest one of them. I guess there is this short hill the riders will face twice marked with second category but ehhh. As usual, sprinters are favorites, and if I had to judge on stage 1’s basis, I’d definitely indicate pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/kmm.png Stauff, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/hgb.png Kump, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/sva.png Van der Sande and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/npn.png Serebriakov as my picks.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PCT/Bayern/3.png

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/npn.png Iglinski wins the sprint for the first KoM point of the day in front of pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/frs.png Blazquez, but a stable break hasn't been formed yet. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/lse.png Prado is 3rd.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PCT/Bayern/PCM0023.jpg

No one else but pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/lse.png Tsubaki will go for the stage win from the break today as it appears. No one attempts to join him and he holds a convincing advantage on the pack. He obviously goes on to take on the second KoM sprint of the day, in front of pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/frs.png Toribio, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/lse.png Prado, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/frs.png Valencia and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/san.png Duran who are trying something outside of the peloton.

The Mexican, 3rd in the last sprint, will therefore wear the Polka Dot jersey tomorrow thanks to the points he grabbed today and two days ago.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PCT/Bayern/PCM0024.jpg

This is the moment when the definitive break gets formed. It could be interesting, since two men for both Lobau and Ferrero are in it. Tactically, it could prove quite a decent move.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PCT/Bayern/PCM0025.jpg

Toribio sprints in front of Duran and Valencia for the 1st intermediate sprint of the day, while the second one, with 60 to go, sees the same result for the first 2 places and Tsubaki in 3rd. The gap on the pack amounts to 3 minutes and a half after it had reached 5 minutes about 30 kilometers before.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PCT/Bayern/PCM0026.jpg

The sprint for the first passage on the finish line is won by the Spaniard again, once more ahead of Duran and Tsubaki. 30 to go, and the gap on the pack has shrank to just 2 minutes.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PCT/Bayern/PCM0027.jpg

The riders make it up to 6.5 km to go on their own, all except Valencia, that just like his teammate Pavarin in stage 1, goes all on his own. With 6 to go, he still has a 25 seconds gap on the main bunch

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PCT/Bayern/PCM0028.jpg

His action only just lasts until the 4 to go mark, where he gets eaten up by the pack.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PCT/Bayern/PCM0029.jpg

More importantly, the quite narrow roads make it easier for just a team or two to build better trains than others and stay in the front. Kraftwerk and Novatek are the elected ones, with pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/kmm.png Stauff and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/npn.png Serebriakov in very good positions, as well as pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/hgb.png Kump who is on the German's wheel pretty much.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PCT/Bayern/PCM0030.jpg

The situation for the sprinters behind them is more confusing, with pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/sva.png Van der Sande left alone with no team that is forced to basically be a leadout for other, luckier sprinters. Near him is pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/ubs.png Page, who found himself randomly in the front and now tries to nab a top 10, with pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/ayu.png Petit, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/kmm.png Brockhoff, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/hgb.png Aberasturi and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/ayu.png Bibby on his and the Belgian’s wheels.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PCT/Bayern/PCM0031.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/kmm.png Maikin, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/kmm.png Stauff's last man, is definitely helping his teammate, but doing the same for pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/hgb.png Kump as well for sure, who is just waiting to start his sprint in the best of positions.

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/sva.png Van der Sande got back in the front anticipating his sprint, which is not ideal but could gain him a creditable final spot, while pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/npn.png Serebriakov has decided to randomly suck again today, by getting dropped by his own leadout, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/npn.png Kadri.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PCT/Bayern/PCM0032.jpg

It's these 4 sprinters that will fight for the win now that everyone has started their sprints. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/hgb.png Kump and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/kmm.png Stauff are definitely the best positioned, but pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/npn.png Kadri and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/sva.png Van der Sande are still sprinting as best as they can after having been in the wind for a long time now.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PCT/Bayern/PCM0033.jpg

But it's pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/hgb.png Kump who takes a masterful win! Great stuff by the Slovenian who exploited Kraftwerk's work in the best way he could. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/kmm.png Stauff is 2nd, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/sva.png Van der Sande and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/npn.png Kadri follow up in 3rd and 4th, while pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/npn.png Serebriakov is 5th and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/kmm.png Stauff 6th.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PCT/Bayern/PCM0034.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/ubs.png Page manages a 7th which goes well beyond his possibilities, ahead of pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/ayu.png Petit and a very satisfied pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/hgb.png Aberasturi as he gets to know his teammate took the win.

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/san.png Richeze can't benefit of his raising hands weakness in the last few meters for 9th – not that he could care less - and still snatches a top 10, with pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/alm.png Lavoine only just outside of it in 11th.
