The longest stage of the race! You’d expect a very long stage to be the longest in a 8 day stage race where all stages are flat. But you’d be wrong, as this is only just 172 kms long! Ugh. And to top it all off, exactly what you would expect from Ireland. It's a sunny day, yet, it's fucking raining.

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/nwb.png Markus wins the first KoM sprint of the day in a photofinish sprint in front of pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/boi.png Speirs and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/yas.png Brammeier, when the advantage of the break, after touching 5 minutes, has gone down to 4 with 93 to go.

7 kms or so later pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/vdc.png Stöhr wins the equally categorised climb in front of pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/yas.png Brammeier and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/nwb.png Markus.

Nothing happens in the meantime and as we near the 5 kms to go sign the break riders have a solid margin and are trying not to get caught. 1 minute divides them from the pack, where Valio and Coldeportes are taking turns to trim the gap down.

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/san_arg.png Trillini breaks away from the rest! The Argentinian has got a good 50 meters margin on the rest of the early break with 3 kilometers to go. They are collaborating behind, but as much as they’d want to catch him, there’s a reason why the Argentinian Champion could get away with it in the first place.

Everyone have launched their sprints with not much to go, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/boi.png Speirs seems to be the fastest while pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/nwb.png Markus definitely went too early! pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/spw.png Turgot and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/yas.png Brammeier seem to be strong contenders for the stage, too.

Behind, the situation is quite messy with pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/boi.png Bennett in the front as the first to go for the sprint and Porto, Valio trains controlling him. Coldeportes' one, as usual, is a huge clusterfuck.
