Hi everyone.
Is it me or its impossÃvel to put, e.g., kyrienka protecting geraint Thomas, geraint protecting landa, and landa protecting froome?
In pcm15 i was able to create a mini mountain train by giving the "protect" order in a sequence. This year i simply can't...
Is it limited at creating pairs? It's very common to have this kind of train in team sky and i'm having a hard time pulling it of this year...
Thanks |

It was a bug in last year's edition. The riders weren't actually protecting each other, so the function was removed.
If you want to make a a relay train up a mountain put the first rider on infinite relay and the riders behind him on normal relay. When the first rider gets exhausted put the second rider on infinite relay and so on. |

Thanks guys...but that's a relay train...
I'm interested in a proctection train.
But if it was a bug on last years edition i'll have to use the relay.
Thanks |

There are no protection trains in cycling.
Difference between protection and relaying:
During protecting, the leader sets the speed and helpers ride around him to protect him from wind and other riders.
When relaying, the helpers set the speed and the leader follows.
From that point of view we should use relay on climbs and before the sprint and only use protection during the rest of the stage. |

Thanks Lachi. But that's exacly my point...the helpers protect the leader. But you can only set one helper, am i wright? Or am i missing something and it is possible to assign 3 or 4 helpers to ride along the leader?
Thanks

Whilst it might make some sense if more than one rider could protect another rider, this was never possible in pcm 2015 (as stated above).
Many riders protecting a leader should form a cluster around the leader to shield the leader from the wind rather than a "protection train". Whether this is necessary to implement, and how much of an additional effect protection with several riders has over protection with a single rider I do not know, but you could make a suggestion in the wishlist thread if you feel it is important.
Although not actually protecting, you can mimic many rider protection by making other riders than your protecting rider take position around your leader. |

It was never possible to have many helpers for the same leader in PCM.
But there have been many bugs with the protection which maybe (hopefully) have been fixed now.

Well, that's not exactly true. Some years ago (don't remember the CYM version), it was possible to protect the leader with several riders, as we see it in real-life cycling. I kind of miss that opportunity. Don't know if it made a difference to protect with more than one rider though. |

Are you sure that you don't mean one of the bugs? Maybe the Waterbottle trick? |

Dont know which version, but in older version it was possible to protect the leader with more then 1 guy. After that it was possible to protect the leader and protect the protector who protected the leader and so on. Allthough i think this was all a bug, it looked nice though but iam not sure if it really did help. |
