Hello everyone, i searched for a similar topic but i didn't find the answer.
I'd know how works the difficulty setting in PCM16...
I mean, recently i'm trying to find the fair level for my "skills", i can win usually in Hard, so i tried to play Extreme.
I started a new career with HARD, but when Santos Tour Down Under came, i did set EXTREME, and yet in first 4 stages i had:
Two stage wins with Kwiatkowski and one 2nd place
One second place with Sagan
One third place with Ulissi
Kwiatkowski 1st in overall with +1'59" on Rui Costa and 2'01" on V.Nibali
D.Ulissi 5th in overall with +2'24"
P.Sagan 8th in overall with +236"
(All of them with mediocre fitness)
So...not even in hard i remeber i ever dominated that much Tour Down Under...do i have to start a new career to set new difficulty level, or wtf is happening, is that a bug? Thank you all |

As far as I know, you don't need to start a new career, no. Mediocre fitness is often enough to dominate the TDU (even if you say it wasn't that drastic before), I'd advise you to play a little further. If you still have these kinds of results in March and April, then something may be off.
Also, I think I remember that there's a value in the editor that determines the percentage the AI riders gain in stats on hard and extreme. If you change that, you can make extreme even "more extreme". I don't remember where exactly that value is, maybe someone can help here or you can search in the forum for it.

Thank you, thought that was a bug.
I won the tour ofc but didn't win any stage after that. I'll see how season will go |

Well it looks like i improved too much or the AI.
After Milano-SanRemo i've 633 UCI Points and Astana (2nd) has 221 points...
In CQ Ranking even worse...2851 points vs 1996 (Orica)
Can you explain how can i change editor to increase difficulty?
It's boring.
In Milan SanRemo i've got 3rd,5th,6th and 8th place -.- |

You can use the pcm career explorer for example, its download can be found in the download section and it should most definitely work with PCM 16 at least for the local.cdb part.

One year later i play again PCM and the problem is still the same. PCM16 Extreme difficulty is awkward. If i set higher difficulty with PCM Career Explorer like you told me matt17br, it's clueless because i guess the problem is all about IA i guess, because if i train for make an hard stage with my team, i can win easily, instead if i wait for difficulties (uphill finishs, last mountain) i can't win because they have higher values.
I wish you know what i mean, my english isn't good at all :\
I wish my examination is right and Cyanide is aware of that and working on it

Cyanide is aware of the problem and I know what you're talking about, but they haven't fixed it for PCM 17 either. They just can't.

Yeah, the AI simply isn't bright enough. Start with one of the weakest team and work your way up, then you'll at least be challenged for a few seasons. Or, if you don't mind a more passive style of playing: Use the automatic mode (set all riders on automatic at the start of a race), which means your team will be using the same (weak) AI as your opponents. |

If i set automatic my riders i definitely can't play in Extreme...
It's awful that in some races it looks impossible to win (like puncher finishs, for me) and in others it's so easy! |

On automatic you can/should leave the difficulty on medium, you'll be on a level playing field with the other teams. Though you'll still "beat" them on the transfer market, making better use of your money.
But automatic mode can be boring or frustrating. If you don't like that I still recommend you pick one of the worst teams in the game and make your way through the lower leagues, slowly building up a team. And/or make other restrictions, currently I'm only allowing myself to increase the wages slowly. I started with riders earning 2.500 Euro per month and in my 5th season I have riders who earn 4.500 Euro per month (and after 16 seasons I can pay up to 10.000 Euros per month, if I ever get that far). |
