PCM.Daily Grand High Wizard Contest 2016
AbhishekLFC
Hello Everyone.

Ever thought you could predict outcomes better than Octopus Paul? Ever wondered why those pundits on TV get paid so much for consistently getting their predictions wrong? Well here's your chance to put things right.

Jandal and I bring to you a brand new game to keep ourselves further engaged during the cycling season. Like the thread says, it’s called PCM.daily Grand High Wizard Contest and here’s how it works.

The game is divided into three sections:
• Grand Tours
• Monuments & World Championships
• World Tour Races and Classics

Grand Tours
Pick top 5 rides for the GC, in order of the finishing positions. Whichever positions you get right you get points. Taking the example of the Giro, if you guessed the finishing positions as Nibali, Landa, Valverde, Kruijswijk and Chaves, you get points for Nibali, Valverde and Kruijswijk.
Further, for the GTs, you select the winners of each classification (one rider only). If you get it right, you get points.

Scoring
• GC – 40, 20, 15, 10, 5 for 1st to 5th positions, respectively (exact guesses required).
• 40 points for correctly guessing each of the other classifications.
• Getting all winners correct, i.e. GC, KOM, Points and Young Rider, doubles your points for that GT.

Monuments and World Championships
Pick 3 riders for the race. If your selection finishes in any of the top 3 positions, you get points. Taking the example of the LBL, if your selection was Rui Costa, Albasini and Barguil, you get points for Costa and Albasini.

Scoring
• 40, 20, 10 for 1st to 3rd positions, respectively (exact guesses not required).
• Getting the top 3 correct doubles your points for that race.

World Tour Stage Races and Classics
Rules are the same as the monuments, just the points are less.

Scoring
• 20, 10, 5 for 1st to 3rd positions, respectively (exact guesses not required).
• Getting the top 3 correct doubles your points for that race.

Besides these, there will a bonus question for each race, which will be worth some points (to be decided at the time of asking). Also, you are encouraged to provide a ‘Story of the Race’ comment to your guesses. This is to make things interesting and get the others in on your thought process. Any other comments for the upcoming races are welcome.

Just to re-iterate, in case of the GTs, the rider selections have to be in the exact order to get points in the GC classification. Ordering is not required for the other races. We have intentionally made the scoring tougher in GTs, but more rewarding.

Cheers!

Well partner, if you'd said Chaves, Valverde and Nibali as the order, you'd have got 0 points as it is a GT Pfft

Need I add, I'll be participating too Wink

That makes it 7 participants so far. We're hoping to get around 15 to start with...

Still looking at a few more entries to start off. Have another inclusion to the game in mind if we get enough people interested Wink

AbhishekLFC
We were hoping to get a few more members involved to start off the game. We will discuss about whether to start off the game with the Dauphine (has to be done before stage 3) or wait for more members to join and start it with the Tour de Suisse.

Either way, there will be an update at 8 AM GMT tomorrow (June 7th). If we decide to start the game, the format will be posted at that time, which should give everyone enough time to send in their entries before the Dauphine Stage 3 gets under-way.

If you are interested to join, please post in the thread below. And remember, you can join anytime. It doesn't matter if you miss a couple of races at the start, as you can make up with the big bonuses on offer.

Another reminder to join before we get underway. Expect an update with the format for entries and the leader-board in about an hour. Another surprise announcement in-store for everyone at the same time.

AbhishekLFC
The first post is updated with the schedule and the format and the second post is updated with the leader-board. More updates, including a new classification and the ultimate prize will be revealed later today.

Remember, you can join the game anytime.

However, the deadline for the Dauphine is Today at 12 noon GMT.

Post your entries in the format in the thread itself. This will help keep things transparent.
