It's been a while since I've been here, because I didn't follow cycling that much last season, but I'm watching it quite often again this year, still love it. Anyway, last week I started a community website myself and I wanted to know if there's anyone who would like to help me. Don't worry, it's not cycling/pcm related and I won't promote it here, but I'm struggling with a few things so maybe someone can help me out.
1. I'm using the same program as pcmdaily uses, namely php-fusion. But it appeard to be a bit more difficult than I thought it'd be, and I see several things on this site which I don't have on my own site (f.e. latest posts on member profile, no system welcome message when people join), and I can't find a lot of information on how to add it. Is there anyone who can help me with that or know where I can find the information for it?
2. I really need a logo and website banner, but my photoshop skills aren't that great. Is there any graphic artist who can help me with this and would like to create them? (Can't pay for it, sorry)
Soo if there are people around here who'd like to help me with these two things then I'd really appreciate that. And I'll try to be around here more often.
Most of php-fusion is just plug-ins. They ususally come with pretty good support and/or are relatively straight forwards to add in. Obviously it requires a lot more knowledge to build your own aspects, which is where Aab-ern is so fantastic here.
You might struggle to get much help of Aab-ern, he's usually rather busy and barely has time to do small bits around here at the moment.
My recommendation if you want to run your own site, is to spend the time and learn how to build php-fusion. I'm slowly spending some time doing this myself and there's a whole range of websites that can help.
I didn't know php-fusion works with plugins as well. I found a page on their website but there weren't many plugins (or addons) and I didn't found the ones I needed. Maybe I have to look better. I don't really need specialized things on the website (at the moment), but it's always good to know something about it. Thanks for your reaction.
So I've found some of the plugins I need, but I can't find a thing like a welcome message plugin. Iirc you receive a system welcome message when you create an account on pcmdaily, or am I wrong?
